-Poor customer service -Worker (or owner) yelled at us, in front of children after an innocent misunderstanding about a seating area I am not a person that typically writes reviews but I have never been more compelled to write about the poor and distasteful service received by the Vanderwende Farm Creamery Truck at the Rockwood Ice Cream Festival on 6/29/2014. A group of mothers and children attended the Rockwood Ice Cream Festival on 6/29. While waiting for the 7+ orders of ice cream we purchased, we waited on the side of the truck where we had seen other customers sitting. After waiting about 10 minutes for orders to come up, we sat in the once occupied chairs because thought it was a seating area (prior to us a few other customers had rotated on the chairs). At no time did any worker on the truck inform us that the unoccupied seats were for workers on the truck. A few minutes after our last order came up, an older man wearing a white shirt, white hat and green cargo shorts, yelled “MOVE” to my husband as he was stepping off the side of the truck. At first, we thought it was a joke because clearly no adult would yell such rude remarks to a customer. Once my husband corrected him by saying, “The phrase is excuse me,” the worker continued yell at us telling us to “move”, “this is a rented space”, “we didn’t pay to sit here”…I mean truly yelling at us, in front of our children, as if our intention was to crash their space and as if we did not just patronize the business. I even asked him, politely to speak to us like adults and he continued to yell. I have never felt so disrespected by a business in my life. We walked away and noticed other customers sit in the same area. While they were asked to move at some point, they weren’t yelled at. To the business, I am not quite sure if your worker thought it was appropriate to react in such an impolite manner because of the color of our skin but that is what it felt like. Prior to us sitting there and after we left, there were white people who made the same innocent mistake we did, yet we did not notice them being addressed as aggressively as we were (and believe me, we waited around to see!). The resolve for next year is to better mark off the side of your truck so your customers know it is not a seating/waiting area and POLITELY inform those who congregate there that it is not a seating/waiting area. No customer or person, regardless of the color of their skin, or what you THINK our intentions may have been should be addressed in such and aggressive and impolite manner. One of the children even responded, “Why is that guy yelling and being so rude.” While I will never support this business and will be sharing my review widely, I hope that you have a serious training on customer service!

Ordered two scoops of ice-cream, it was so large that I could barely finish it :-) However the clerk did not inform me that he would put the ice-cream and cone into a cup due to me ordering caramel on top of the ice-cream. When I said I would just grab the ice-cream without the caramel when he handed me the cup of ice-cream, with the $1 homemade cone put on top of it, he got annoyed, and made me a much smaller ice-cream, which was still very large though. In Short: good ice-cream, bade customer service / information

First Things First: I ordered 1 scoop of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, it only had like 3 chunks of cookie dough in it!!!!! Second: They scooped too much ice cream in a cone, and it crushed right as it was placed in my hand!!! Third: The shop was also understaffed, and did not have enough trash cans on the premise!! Fourth: The air conditioning was up to high! The ice cream was good overall!!!! Id go back!!

Great tasting ice cream. Beautiful scenery with the farm as a backdrop. 1 scoop is actually closer to 3 scoops. They also sell watermelon jam and pepper jam which were wonderful and unique. This is only place Ive seen it being sold. The only downfall is the smell of manure which can be expected but still a bit unappealing and there were flies inside the actual shop.

The ice cream here is simply amazing. Never had better in my whole life. They sell other cow products as well such as milk and cheese which Im sure would be just as good. The price was good and they have many options to pick from as well as specials. If you pass this place up on the road you will definitely regret it!

The best ice cream in the world lives here, specifically, Vanderwendes coconut. The only thing that keeps it from being a 5 star is the price. A quart of ice cream here can buy you two quarts of Bryers. But thats not keeping me away from... coconut!!!

The service is always friendly. The price is very reasonable. The ice cream is always delicious. They have a nice gravel parking area that can get packed during beach season but the line still moves quickly. Stop, you wont be disappointed.

Good ice cream and I dont get sick despite my lactose intolerance. Its almost as good as the homemade ice cream in Reading Square, Philly. A little more flavor would make it perfect! Hmmm, now I want to go get some.

Our stop on the way home from the beach every time. The best ice cream in the region. Line is always long, but the wait is short because of the 8-10 staff on hand. Not the friendliest crew but they get the job done.

You could not ask for better scenery for an ice cream joint. You are eating in in a feild next to the cows who helped make it! Did I mention the ice cream is out of this world and extremely inexpensive!
