Went in to "celebrate" 5 de Mayo and thought the name of the place guaranteed the real thing. I ordered a Chimichanga and they brought out a plate of flautas. I sent it back explaining what a CHimighanga is...the cook came out to my table outraged that I should question what a Chimichanga is. I showed him various Google recipes and descriptions of what a Chimichanga is (A fried Burrito basically) - they refused to make me a new dish, Id have settled for a regular burrito. But the owner said, "the kitchen will not cook for you anymore" so I simply got up and walked. Oh and the "tamale" tasted like a corn meal turd. Bland, no pork, no nothing...just ground corn in a husk. Sent that back too. But the margaritas on the house were awesome!

This family business is so friendly and accommodating. The sangria is delicious and you can get a large or small pitcher if you want. The atmosphere is very cozy and if you dont care for dim lighting there are a few nooks neat the window. I know quite a few Uconn employees who frequent this restaurant I believe not only because they have a variety of dishes that are delicious, but also their food is consistent. We enjoy take out from here. I recommend the guacamole and I always get their mexican salmon. They will make changes to the menu especially to assist vegetarians. This is a very relaxing restaurant to just sit and chat or read your Kindle!

My boyfriend and I have been going to Cinco DeMayo for about a year now, at least once every couple of weeks. The food there is absolutely amazing! Their guacamole is the best Ive ever tasted- store bought or otherwise-- no other restaurant compares. They also have really cheap alcoholic drinks-- their pina coladas are the best ever. If you want excellent, authentic Mexican food then go here- not Margaritas! They dont even compare, truly. Their staff is so friendly and nice- they know us now by name. I recommend it to everyone I meet thats looking for good food in the area- definitely a gem of a restaurant! Dont miss out on this one!

I usually have great experiences here, but I walked in yesterday and something smelled. Bad. I still cant quite put my finger on what the smell was, but I am certain that something was off. The service was friendly, food was good, but the food poisoning that Im suffering from as a result is the worst of my life. I immediately felt off after eating (though I chalked it up to all the spices) but after getting home and trying to rest a bit it became very clear what was happening. If it wasnt for the food poisoning I would give 4 stars, but no one should have to go through this.

I did my research. After reading these reviews, I wanted to go experience it for myself. I felt like i was lied to and that everyone was paid by the restaurant to say these things. It was over priced. You basically pay $11+ for lackluster rice and re fried beans from a can. Our server was nice but not very attentive. The ice tea was flavorless. I wanted to get up in the middle of my meal and leave. Never going back there and i advise you not to go either. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!! BUY GROCERIES INSTEAD!! I guarantee your food will turn out better!

Really dark inside. I feel like other reviews were written by the owner: Quesadilla appetizer was literally three small soft tortilla wraps filled with a small amount of American cheese. And NOTHING else. Taco entree was cheap ground beef and shredded lettuce. The lunch ladies at my elementary school made better. Oh, and each taco entree costs ten bucks and change. I asked for guacamole and they said no. Only way to get ANY guacamole is to pay 9 dollars for a bowl of it.

Well, the food is tasty, filled me up nicely and seemed very fresh and freshly prepared... but thought it was rather costly for what it is. Seating, ordering and food arrival was expeditious.... staff seemed to wish to avoid refills on drinks and I get the impression that for most drinks, complimentary refills are rare. The ice tea was good (imo) liiiightly sweetened which I didnt mind. I would go back again in a heartbeat if not for the cost.

I ate at Cinco De Mayo for the first time today and I can honestly say it was the best experience I ever had and I definitely plan on going back again. Best tacos I ever had, plus great chips and salsa, which are complimentry. I also tried fried ice cream for the first time there and it was pretty good. I honestly reccomend this site to anyone who enjoys authentic mexican food.

This is the place that everyone goes to locally in Storrs, Willimantic and surrounds for great Mexican/TexMex food. I dont konw enough about the difference between the two, but people I take there seem to get some of both and are quite happy. If you want fake mexican, go to places like Margaritas or Coyote Blues, but if you want the real deal, go here.

Its great, fresh, handmade food. It is reasonably priced. The decor is artsy and quirky. The service is not very fast, but that being said, this gives you plenty of privacy and room to have uninterrupted conversations with friends. Plenty of taco/ buttito / enchiladas to choose from, however not many listed vegetarian options. Worth a try!!

This is a great restaurant... on your third trip because the waiters know what you order and they automatically become like family and they like you they learn your name but sadly in phone ordering it is bad but the food is amazing

Cinco de Mayo is amazing! You cannot go wrong with the vegetarian dish (unless youre lactose intolerant- but isnt cheese the reason why people eat Mexican food??). It goes down well with a tall margarita. YUM.

Service was what youd expect from a Mexican restaurant, she took our order, brought us drinks and our food. It was the food that sold me. Best around and closest to authentic as you can get in Eastern CT.

This place has good Mexican food. My favorite thing (besides the entrees) is the chips and salsa toy get while you wait for food. Ill go there to buy chips and salsa just for a snack at home.

This is simply the best an most authentic Mexican food Ive ever tasted. They are extremely consistent in their quality, and make the best margaritas in town. Try the chicken flautas!

Bad smell when you enter the restaurant. Great, but not friendly, service. Great food. Great drinks. Good portions. Hot and fresh food. So, so, atmosphere.

If you want a great Mexican dinner this is the only place to go in this area. Dont bother with the others. Nothing compares to Fiesta Cinco Demaio!

This place has the best guacamole that I have ever eaten. All the food is superb and authentic. No need to travel elsewhere once youve been here.
