Bad experience. We arrived at 10:50 Am on a Sunday. There was no sign to indicated if we should seat ourselves or wait to be seated. It took about 5 minutes to decide what to do. Wait to be acknowledged or seat ourselves and see what happens. We took that route and sat at the bar area. Several wait staff walked right by us at the counter without even looking at us. Finally someone came to take our order. By now its 11:10. We ordered coffee and upon discovering we were there for breakfast the waitress told us they stopped serving at 11:am We missed the cut off time because no one helped us but they would not budge. Ridiculousness! we left while other patrons were eating still their breakfasts and others were still getting theirs served to them! Never again. Taking my money elsewhere from now on. Employees need training on customer service. Its not their fault but rather bad management because it wasnt just one employee. We werent even able to make eye contact with anyone until our waitress came to the bar to take our order. Completely ignored from the moment we walked in and sat down until someone made it over to us only to be told we missed the cut off by 10 minutes??? Come on Shady Glen staff get it together!

I ate there 20 years ago and was unimpressed. I ate there again a few days ago and the bill for myself and 8 year old daughter totaled $31.50. What a RIP!!! Basically we had burgers and fries. Nice retro atmosphere but the burger meat tasted like it was very low grade--as if some cat food found its way in there. The fries were standard crinkle cut. Ice cream was good, but if you ask for 1 scoop, you get a teaspoons worth. They dont take debit cards so on top of my expensive tab was an ATM fee which pd me off to no end. The place is just not worth it. If you want a GOOD burger go someplace else, get a better meal and save 20 dollars. Doesnt even come close to Burger King.

I actually havent been to Shady Glen in a while but when I was there this past Saturday, I was shocked to see how filthy and run down the place has gotten. Dont use the restroom, its beyond gross, besides the nastiness it needs serious renovating! I didnt see (which doesnt mean there wasnt one there) a manager at all, only a bunch of younger kids who were all doing their job very well however if a manager was present I would hope they would have at the very least made sure the restaurant floor was swept. The food was the same quality as always, however Im sorry to see the lack of cleanliness.

This is a nice 50 Style Diner that serves burgers, frankfurters, and a couple of Seafood items. Nothing fancy, but definitely wholesome. Their shakes are very good. They specialize in frying cheese on the grill so its like that cheese that oozes out of your grilled cheese and gets crispy, yum yum yum. I have ordered the whole belly clam platter which will be served with fries and coleslaw and a coffee milkshake. I have already received my coffee milkshake and it is delicious. If you are looking for fast food go elsewhere this is a made to order diner so you need a little bit of time.

Waited in line with my 83 year old father for 20 minutes with many others, mostly elderly waiting for tables and people walked in and immediately sat when a group got up out of the booth. We spoke with a waitress who saw a bunch of us had been waiting. We were first told there was 1 line then we were told there was a line for each side. Your food isnt that good anymore and your staff was rude. Time for a new seating policy, 3 groups of people walked out when we did. Off to Goldburgers we go, where the burgers and staff are so much better!!

I also dont understand what the big deal is about this place. I got a grilled chicken platter which was 2 dry ass chicken breasts with a side of cole slaw.....Unreal that it was over 10$. wife got a cheeseburger and fries, which were terrible and our meal was over 30$!!! Absolute waste of money, skip this place. Took us a couple minutes to figure out we had to seat ourselves, and only menus were on the wall. Completely rediculous place.

Had to wait in line for a table this afternoon, but it is the day after Christmas. We all got cheeseburgers and fries and the food came out fast and was very delicious. The service was good, its a great little diner with a cute 50s-60s vibe, and they make theyre own ice cream which is also amazing, with so many differnet flavors plus a few different seasonal flavors to choose from. I recommend an eggnog ice cream milkshake.

Ice cream beyond comparison I came here as a child when their cows were in the fields behind the dairy bar through revisions and building out. My children come back when they can. Service is swift courteous helpful whether at the counter booth or take out cone... When busy a wait but worth it. Portions are fair sized prices... Have gone up since the 50s Enjoy

If you are looking for variety in a menu or breakfast served later in the day, this is not the place. However it is a nice throwback burger joint. I enjoyed the burger and the cheese grilled onto the bun is a nice touch. Milk shakes were good as well and I liked that they served crinkle fries. We will be back, just probably not regularly.

Saw this restaurant on Diners, drive ins and dives...was excited to try their signature cheeseburger...But extremely disappointed in it. $6 bought a small burger with their cheese...very disappointing ... On the plus side the service was excellent and the restaurant design was classic diner. Their ice cream (homemade) was delicious.

When we first moved to Ct. We lived on Homestead St. Shady Glen was near us in the Parkade. We loved it. We love the cheeseburger. Ice cream and the cole slaw is to die for. We live a half a mile from the one near Bolton. It still calls me to come in, but I have no willpower when it comes to eating there.

We had cheeseburgers and onion rings/fries and some ice cream. Cheeseburger was unique, but didnt blow my mind. Ice cream is definitely above average. If youre going to specifically make a trip to here, would definitely be for the ice cream. Service was good, cash only, kid-friendly.

Get the Cheese burger, it is a cheese frita on the cheese burger, it is crispy and savory. Get some of their homemade ice cream to cut the saltiness, I had the Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate Chip Ice Cream with Whip Cream and Chocolate Fudge, it sounded unique and tasted amazing.

I really wanted to like Shady Glenn, its right around the corner and a Manchester landmark. Unfortunately, the burgers are cheap frozen patties that you could buy at a local supermarket. The fries are ok, and the prices are high for what you get. Not much value here..
