We went to the prospect cafe for a surprise birthday celebration for my mom, we had a party of 20 or more. The bartender was beyond rude to us by the end of the night. Not only was the staff complaining among each other loud enough for us to hear about our party not sitting at a table and sitting in the bar area, by the end of the night the bartender Mike was being incredibly rude. He not only slammed a book down in front of my father at an attempt to mock him, he informed us that he just added drinks to our tab because he wasnt sure who was paying for what, he tried to argue with my father who is a Culinary Institute of America alumni that our chicken was not over cooked and was fine. Our bill was well over $100 and we ended up leaving to get attentive service elsewhere. So sad with the way we were treated tonight after raving and recommending this place to everyone I know. Definitely will not be a repeat customer.

I actually Love Prospect Cafe... I only had one problem with it tonight... my meal was just a touch too spicy... I get the fact that the chef was trying to bring a bit of "Creole" to Hartford, but not all Creole food is spicy, not like that...but otherwise they are terrific, ESPECIALLY the capuccino we had after. I am not kidding folks, it was so nearly perfect that the ONLY way they could get it closer would be to import milk from Italy... I had a bite of my husbands pork medalions and those were terrific; tender, flavorful... and his asparagus was grilled to perfection...and OMG I never tasted better potatoes, not even mine... I promise, if you want a great, comfortable, and friendly place to eat, you cant go wrong with Prospect Cafe...

Although I cant speak to those who have had bad experiences here, I for one can say Ive had a great one here, and has become a go-to spot for my friends and I. A majority of the reason for our positive experiences here are due to the incredible Bartending staff- Mike, DJ, and Ryan. They dont get annoyed when you ask for recommendations or ask them for something while being annoyingly vague - they somehow know what to whip you up. They are creative cocktail connesesuirs and keep me coming back for more. They are obviously skilled in their craft and in shows through their work. Also, Thank you, Julie and Kristen for being fabulous and the smile and profession they bring to the establishment. Would recommend to anyone and I often do. Thanks!

Best brunch!! Hidden gem I cant wait to return to! Update: I went back for dinner and was blown away AGAIN! I had one of their feature cocktails (yellow rose whiskey, basil, blackberry, and... magic?) and an entre-size salad off their specials menu (mixed greens, gorgonzola, candied walnuts, blackberries, blackberry vinnegrette, and the juiciest, most flavorful seared scallops) all for just about $25! I may return later on this week when its a bit earlier and not so chilly on the patio. This is a can-not-miss place!

Great spots there may be, but this one is mine. Imagine...its late Sunday night and the state of Connecticut laws just gave a cold shoulder to the thirsty guy. So,what does one do? Google your way to Prospect Cafe. Park right in front, imbibe a pair of fine Marine ales. You get a cozy setting, fine fellowship, friendly bar guy. And a fine female who knows all the lyrics. All is well with the world. Thanks heavens for Prospect Cafe. Cheers, for the memories.

The bartender was inattentive and offensive. I came in with a party of 20. I asked for a manager he said the manager was out having a cigarette was unavailable. After we left I called the bar and asked Mike the bartender to speak to a manager he hung up on me I hope the manager or owner of the bar sees this review and replies so that I can actually speak to them and let them know what happened this bartender will put this bar into a downward spiral.

I really like the atmosphere in this place. It has a very contemporary, yet classic feel. The food is inventive and tasty. They have a great beer selection and their classic cocktails are pretty good. I would like to see a wider selection of truly classic cocktails, but that isnt going to keep me from going again.

Amazingly sophisticated food! The bartender told me the chef is award winning and he definitely followed through. He even brought it out to me with a look that said, "You are going to like this." Indeed I did. I was in heaven. The beer selection and atmosphere is great too. Will be back!

Good food, decent service and nice atmosphere. This place is a good choice for a relaxing dinner or to grab drinks. The food wasnt amazing but definitely met expectations. Would recommend stopping by to check it out for yourself, exciting to have more places like this in the area!

Went here for their Prohibition night. The food and drink options where delicious; I liked everything I tried. The atmosphere was comfortable, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and the live jazz band was amazing.

What a great revamp of what was a West Hartford mainstay for so many years. The upgrades include a completely redone interior, a vastly improved beer selection, and a farm to table focus.
