Warning: If you have sensitive taste buds, or are offended by the idea of Waterbury having quality establishments, you should turn away now. What you will find ahead is incredibly flavorful food, a menu that doesnt try to overreach, but instead keeps it simple and effective, and provides an incredible bang for your buck. Tonight my buddy and I had wings and burgers. A bit about us, I consider myself a bit of a wing connoisseur and have had wings all over this state. I LOVE the hottest of the hot, as well as trying new and unique flavors. My friend prefers to keep the heat down to safe, if not mild, levels. First, the wings: We split small boneless orders of Shogun and Red White & Blue wings. Right from the start, Wing It On does it right, with HUGE pieces of chicken. I would characterize them more like tenders than just wings. They were cooked perfectly, and I can only describe them as succulent. (How many times have you gone to a wing place and ended up with dry pieces of plywood for wings? NOT HERE) I would safely say these were some of the finest pieces of chicken Ive had at ANY wing-serving establishment. Then there are the sauces. The Shogun sauce is described as Teriyaki with a Chili kick. The sweetness of the teriyaki and the bite of the chili had a fantastic balance; neither flavor overshadowed the other. It has a nice medium heat that both of us could enjoy. The Red White & Blue is a mixture of their medium wing sauce and blue cheese. Again, just a delicious, flavorful, balanced sauce that never gets bland tiring. And another things about the sauces - your wings are drenched in them! Too many times Ive gone to wing joints with dried out chicken, that sparingly cover their wings in sauce. With WING IT ON, theres a healthy little pool of sauce on the bottom of the takeout containers, just begging to be dipped in. With the RWB wings, there were also little chunks of blue cheese. And that reminds me of another talking point, the BC. WING IT ON uses the best blue cheese Ive had at a wing place. They give you a nice little container with every wing order. Both times Ive eaten here, Ive attacked the remnants of the container with a spoon - I couldnt leave one bit to spare. On to the burgers: I had the Beelzeburger, which of course is red hot, and my friend had the Texican. These burgers are MASSIVE. 1/3 pound slabs of beef that had even 250 pounders like us going "Wow!" (And the Texican is a DOUBLE) Again, just very detailed, balanced, flavorful creations. These burgers have a lot going on, but never seem overly busy. All of the flavors blend well together. I especially enjoyed the fact that the patty on the Beelzeburger is infused with Tabasco. Between the hot sauce, jalapenos, jack cheese, and chipotle sauce, this burger has plenty of heat for those of you that like some kick. Interestingly, the strongest burn didnt come until mid burger, when I paused to grab a drink. Quickly and unannounced, it crept up on me. I nice, rich burn, that while not panic inducing, sent me immediately to muster the remnants of the blue cheese to cool things down a bit. In the end, what I can say is, Gastronauts, you will enjoy yourself at WING IT ON. The food is well prepared, flavorful, and wont kill your wallet. They keep the menu specialized, and pull it off with excellent execution. There is a little bit of a wait for your order, as they are absolutely slammed for business, but they are busy for GOOD REASON, and the food is WELL WORTH IT! Next time, the Wraps and the Sweet Potato Fries are on my list. That is, if I can resist a repeat visit of those Shogun wings. FINALLY, a QUALITY wing joint in Waterbury. All you need now is a bigger restaurant, with a bar. For now, a beer from my fridge and a spot in front of my TV will have to do.

I WAS GIVEN A FAKE, EMPTY "GIFT CARD" BY STORE OWNER. . . PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS REGARDING THE BRIDGEPORT LOCATION. . .BUT SINCE NOTHING WAS DONE. . .IM POSTING EVERYWHERE. . . well. . .this was the LAST straw, I has many issues with this WIO location (Bridgeport) wrong orders, NASTY staff that spoke VERY little english, cold food, incomplete orders, dirty store, sticky floor, etc etc. BUT I liked the actual food so much that I really tried to help improve the location, I actually spoke to the owner of WIO (not the franchisee, the owner) he was very helpful and in an effort to make things right he told me to stop by the Bridgeport store and pick up a gift card. . .I was very impressed . . .so. . .I waited a few months to use it because I wanted to wait to see if things improved. . .I went in . . . THE CARD WAS EMPTY. . .YES . . .EMPTY. . .ZERO BALANCE. . . .WHAT A SCUMMY BACKHANDED MOVE BY THE FRANCHISEE ! ! ! ! !. . . .(just as an FYI by law in Connecticut gift cards do not and cannot expire) so hopefully that wont be used as an excuse as to why you SCREWED ME . . . . .THIS IS A G--D D--MN OUTRAGE !!!!!!!!!!!! . . . . THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. . . . UPDATE: do you know the old expression "put your money where mouth is" . . . .ill tell you what . . .if im lying. . . and used the card as you are saying. . .ill give you $500 IN CASH AND WILL REMOVE ALL THESE COMMENTS . . show me this "software" that said I used it. . .or better yet id like to see me on your security camera "using the card" . . . .just face it. . . YOU ARE DONE ! . . .all of your outlets are racking up bad comment after bad comment. . . ."DECLINING" is a common word. . ."DOWNHILL" is another. . . .and now I see you are doing what every other dying restaurant is doing. . . .when a slew of bad comment come in. . .you rally your friends and family to put all kinds of good comments in. . . . and I was SHOCKED to see you used your own name to post a fake comment (It would be in bad taste to post your name here do I wont, just needed to call you out on it). . . .SO. . .how are you going to make this right ?. . . . .there are DOZENS of restaurant review boards I have to even posted on yet . . . . . .

I know everyone says theyre a "wing connoisseur", but the truth is that unless youre me, youre really NOT a connoisseur. Ive suffered through more bad wings in this area than I care to imagine, and I kept on suffering knowing that someday, I would find the "Holy Grail" of wing joints. And youre looking at it on this page. The problem most places have with trying to make wings is that its not just about the sauce, its more about the wing itself. No matter how good your sauce is, it wont make up for a mealy, sub-par piece of chicken. More often than not, youll get wings with decent sauce and flavor, but once you get past that and to the actual "meat and bones of it", it gets disappointing fast. Wing it On gets it right, on every level. The wings are fresh, meaty and crunchy. And the variety and quality of the sauces is legit. And best of all, they listen to customer feedback and keep working to improve on an already top notch product. And the homemade blue cheese dressing? Id swim in it given the opportunity. Go for the wings, stay for the wings, and try the wraps and burgers as well, amazing. After multiple visits, Ive never been anything but completely satisfied with every aspect of their service and Im looking forward to going back regularly. I miss the former location in Oakville, but I see that there are more of these popping up in the area. Thank you baby Jesus.
