The Pantry is the loveliest place to stop for a delightful luncheon, dinner or pick up any of their incredible take away food, cheeses, pastries. It is literally a garden of earthy delights in every way...the ambiance is so homey and inviting. There are wonderful things to purchase displayed beautifully. Everything is prepared with the finest and freshest ingredients. If you like scones, you will NEVER find a better one than the generously large brandy cherry ones they bake. They are mindblowingly delicious! Our familys favorite bread, the whole wheat loves are incredible..yeasty, moist and outstanding. The owners, Michael and Nancy Ackerman are almost always there welcoming people, serving and creating a most charming spot that is the heart and soul of our Washington Depot. Try the roast turkey sandwich...terrific. We also love their selection of chicken salads, the salmon and all the entrees and fixings they offer. This is a real sweet spot of low key, country living perfection. A piece of heaven on earth!

The Pantry has been my local hangout for too many years. The ambience and atmosphere are unique-the wives and girlfriends love the ability to shop for kitchen wares, epicurean delights (imported and local), culinary delights and killer pies, cakes and careful the pecan sticky buns and almond macaroons are addictive and should be outlawed. The owner is there every day keeping an eye on everything and making sure all guests are warm, comfy and leave satiated and happy. Also very private where celebrities, politicians, and even know-it-alls are ignored and treated like family like all the other guests. Worth a 2 hour drive from Manhattan or anywhere else in Massachusetts, New York and even Jersey (if one happens to be traveling this way). Nestled in the foothills of Litchfield County in the Northwest corner of the Nutmeg State. Hope you will come by and taste some unique Yankee hospitality. Cheers David

AWESOME!!!! This place takes you back to simpler times when food was home made, beautifully prepared and served with kindness and courtesy. The owners, the Ackermans are very lovely and kind and are almost always there to help out and make sure everything is perfection. The food is delicious, well presented and mouth-watering. Love everything....great baked goods, breads, cheese selection to go crazy for and homey, down to earth ambiance. Love to look around and find a special gift for someone. Always a pleasure to stop in at the Pantry and either sit down at the adorable tables with sweet posies or take away...and you can take away a n entire smorgasbord! The Pantry is Washington Depots go to spot. Cannot resist popping in for something scrumptious!

Was visiting neighboring towns during spring break with my family, stopped by The Pantry, in Washington, CT, was told it was delightful, picked up several goodies, jellies, salsa’s, bread, $50+ dollars, service was awful, rather snobbish, waited at cash register for 5- 7mins, had to request someone to ring up my goods, no thought to packing the goods, just dropped in the bag, not very friendly, display of goods was on exterior / parameter walls, sitting area tables in the center, deli to the left, somewhat confusing arrangement.

Not inexpensive, but tasty food and carefully made. It is odd eating in a kitchen store, but you get over it. You can an order at the counter and they also have table service where you order off a different menu. Sounds more confusing than it is... just sit at a table and order as you would in a restaurant. The counter is mostly for takeouts. At the last visit I had some excellent crab cakes and a lentil salad that my wife is still talking about.

Great take out and catering. Not you run-of-the-mill take out either: panko crusted tilapia, three meat lasagna, pork loin stuffed with cornbread and prosciutto. Their menu is fresh and innovative - better than most restaurants. And save room for the desserts!

a great spot for lunch, the food is interesting and well cooked and always fresh. i dont think they have a liquor license but the iced tea is made in the kitchen, as is the bread, and the desserts are glorious.

Very friendly staff and good food. Other customers were friendly too and everyone was nice to my boys (7 months and 20 months) .

Best sandwiches in Connecticut period. The cookies and snacks are awesome too but the sandwiches are on another level.

Great sandwiches. My favorite is the vegetarian sandwich. Roast beef and turkey sandwiches are excellent as well.

Decent selection of food, a little pricey, uncomfortably crowded- this place needs better interior design.
