Terrible service, terrible food for the most part, and overpriced. My Ribeye steak that taste like it was frozen and thawed in the microwaved. DISGUSSING. The only good thing going for this place is the "looks" which is an up-charge itself. Read below the private message I sent directly to the manager who saw the message and didn’t even bother to reply. STAY AWAY FROM PLACES LIKE THIS that can’t event reply with a thank you for visiting us, and sorry you had a bad experience. After not getting a response, I decided to make it public. They apparently dont care! Good morning, My friends and I went to your restaurant last night hoping to celebrate a happy occasion (my birthday) Your establishment was highly recommended to us so we decided to try it. We really enjoyed the atmosphere, it’s beautifully decorated, the drinks were amazing, however the service and one of the entrées (Ribeye steak meal) were below standards. Our waitress was very pleasant, but inattentive. The steak was bland and poorly cooked. The potatoes were lacking flavor as well. I ended up eating the green beans and adding salt and pepper to the steak and cutting a few pieces around the edges and that’s all I ate. After our meals were delivered she didn’t come back to check on us for approximately twenty minutes. I didn’t make a complaint because I do know how hard it is to work as a server, and it seemed fairly busy. The other two meals were good, along with the appetizers no issues there. After we were done, we waited for a long time before our server came back to ask us if we wanted anything wrapped. She asked how the food was, I told her how I didn’t enjoy my meal at all. She agreed that the steak is not the best choice on the special menu, however didn’t attempt to remediate or accommodate despite my lack of satisfaction and after seeing that I hardly touched anything on my plate (see picture). I immediately asked her for the check which didn’t take long to arrive. After seeing the cost of the steak my frustration grew. Not only did we get bad service, we ended up paying $48 for a bland steak and potatoes that I would consider overvalued and not meeting the standards of an acceptable dish. I still tipped the server to show my appreciation for the service which may have sent the wrong message, but I was a very dissatisfied customer. I respect the reputation of businesses and for that reason I have decided to message your establishment privately rather than give you a public negative review. I hope a restaurant of your repute pays more attention to the service each client receives, and aligns the cost of the meals with the quality of the food specifically the “open food” steak meal. Last I would like to refer you to a few of the places where I have dined and enjoyed a mouthwatering steak, cooked to perfection at an average price. The locations are in CT, MA & NJ. Flemings, Market Place, Dakotas Steak house, McCormick’s & Schmicks Steak house (MA), Ruth’s Chris Steak house, Old Homestead Steak House (Borgata Casino in NJ). I hope you take this as an opportunity for growth for your staff and the restaurant in general, and I look forward to giving you guys a second chance and receiving better service and delightful cuisine. With best wishes,
JO

Horrendous. For the same exact money you can go to fine dinning in nyc and get 3 times a better food experience and pay the same or less. Also, in CT, hell (been a while for me but) Peppercorn (in hartford) and Ibiza in New Haven blow this place away for the same money or less money. Lets start with the appetizer sampler to start: - a pile of BROWN food (oil soaked calamari, deep fired crab cakes that were stringy - no lump here and very oily and full of breading and mayonaise, Fig/goat cheese brushetta - not bad). A sea of Brown and the calamari looked too evenly breaded to be done by hand think it was frozen or bagged and it was a bit chewy). Main courses : - we did not order the zuppa di pesce because it was not zuppa , zuppa means stew or soup. And we were not interested in piling high seafood on top of linguini with runny looking sauce which we saw as on of these were ordered next to us. -My Salmon (ordered this as nothing really looked good or exciting on the menu and this menu was not Italian- all the pasta dishes outside the zuppa were cream based, a technique for laziness in the kitchen; nothing eye-catching except for the salmon, what a mistake ), tasted fishy and it was stuffed with what I can only call what tasted like runny mushy bad turkey stuffing. Also, the hollandaise sauce was really bad. The whole time I was eating other peoples food I sauce did not move it was like gelatin. -wife had a rib eye steak, not bad but i do not think it was aged as they say for 28 days. The tendons were still in tact and meat was a little stringy when getting close to the bone. Absolutely no steak or beef flavor. Overall ok , but for 42 dollars not worth it in the least bit as it was not SEASONED . If i have to put my own seasoning on a 40 dollar steak then why did I go out to eat. The Chef is supposed to take care of that. - one person had chicken in our group, dry and over sauced and 30 dollars. Dessert: - Velvet cake, a chemical bomb of fake frosting (no cream cheese frosting here) and food color no 2. Really Bad and no flavor of any kind of chocolate. to top it off, no after dinner italian cordials like fernet branca or nonino. Hell french restaurants in nyc carry italian bitters and cordials. Wine list is from the 1990s, nothing really outside of Tuscany, sorry but there are a lot of interesting wines outside of Tuscany and if you call yourself fine italian restaurant than please diversify your wine list and please have italian bitters/cordials. In CT, dont waste your time, calories or money here as you can get a lot better at Peppercorn (italian in hartford) or fine Spanish at Ibiza in New Haven and Bin 100 in Milford. Such a waste of space, calories, and money. Unless of course, you work at ESPN (nearby) and just want to throw some cash away.

Where to begin...would not go back again in my life or recommend this place to anyone...the older hostess up front with the bangs and head microphone ignores you when you try and converse with her and shows no respect through her eye contact and body language. I had called 30 hours in advanced for an 8-10 top reservation at 8:15 pm. I had showed up at 8:18pm not knowing about the extremely limited parking for Cavas guest, since the hostess made no mention of it, and that theres no reference to the parking on their website, and that when the lot is full you must park in the grass lot yards away, also not referenced on the website. This walk to Cavas from this grass lot took my party and I a few minutes to walk, due to the girls wearing nice shoes with heels, that were now covered with dirt and mud due to the rain that had just passed on 7/7 and the ground being wet and not firm. The hostess I described earlier then went on to blame me for being three minutes tardy when there was no communication between the hostess who I had reserved our table with the day before, regarding the extremely limited parking and dirt lot and walk path that youll be forced to used once the parking lot gets full. I then had to wait 35 minutes due to this miscommunication, for my reservation I had called 30 hours in advanced for. Then when asked to speak to the manager, "Tony" was just too busy. My party and I were asked to wait in the poorly lit inside bar, for our roof top table that was reserved for 8:15. By 8:54 our table was ready. Then when finally on the roof top, the waitress lacked professionalism by not even stating her name. You cant order a salads as an entrees, or an extra 10$ charge, another miscommunication. So I ordered the Bolognese that came out cold and tastes like tomato sauce over papardelle. A gray/blonde womens hair in the birthday girls tiramusu cake. The decor on the rooftop looked like they messed up and went over budget half way through. They had nice marble tables and then cheesy plastic wine Grey goose cups they used as water cups. The plastic fake diamond chandeliers with fake lit candles looked cheap, and the rubber front door floor mats on the wall for decor looked flimsy and looked just as cheap as the chandeliers. 400$ bill and tip just to get out of this dump. My favorite part of the night was how the hostess rather than apologizing for these miscommunication, chose to blame the guests who were at our table prior to us for showing up late and staying later which effected our reservation. 1 star, 1 out of 10 rating from me. And the 1 star and 1/10 only comes from the dry ice drinks that were actually pretty cool to witness. Other than that however, will not ever be returning to Cavas, or their grass lot. -Joseph
