I just wrote a review on Trip Advisor about my experience this past Mothers day weekend at the Laurel Diner. The Eggs Benedict was very delicious....divine. The Nutella Waffle was outta this world. The food is spectacular...always fresh (thats very obvious). The owners Pete and Stephanie are very friendly, down to earth people. They are locals as well. Pete does all the grill cooking, sometimes with the help of Stephanies sister. The service is great, Stephanie and the other girl are VERY friendly, always smiling and never seem to stop moving! They are always waiting on tables, circling the place with coffee, cleaning....helping Pete...They work hard and it shows. The overall environment is pleasant and positive. If you have never been here give it a try....I dont think that you will be disappointed!

People love this place but I dont know why. The menu is super boring and limited, rhe fiod is just ok, and they are only open for breakfast and early lunch. The limited seating is tight and uncomfortable. But the staff is great and the food is consistent. Ive noticed its mostly men eating here, although I feel like thats not unusual for breakfast places. Its one of those everybody knows your name kind of restaurants. Parking is rough. Limited and hard to pull back out once youre leaving. A lot of people park across the street at the school but thats tough to do when school is in session. There is no street parking. However if you see the lot is full, be assured its pretty crowded on the inside anyway.

Best hash in Connecticut. They make you feel at home. The chef looks like Lucas Duda. What more can you want. Our waitress was way attentive and even found time to crack a joke or two although the place was just getting out of the weeds. Rightfully so, the food hits the spot. Forget Dennys or Leos the morning after that wedding. This is the spot to be. Down home look but dont be fooled. Good mix of clientele from families to the guy that reads the paper at the end of the service bar. Be sure not to fly by the place. Parking on site. Just enough seats for everybody. Man does their food rock, and it wont break the bank either.

This is by far the best diner around. Everything is great about this place from the food to the service. Everytime you go there its so hard because you want to have so many different things. The price is VERY reasonable. The home fries are delicious and the corn beef hash is absolutely amazing. There are alot of creative dishes they have here like these paradise pancakes. The burgers are better than five guys (no exaggeration). If your around, I would take the opportunity to check this place out!!

Best Reuben of my life, I think. It is one of my go-to dishes...I like them and try them at most places that have them...and this certainly didnt disappoint. Kids loved the fancy pancakes (rainbow sprinkles or something fun) and the server (an owner, I think) was really friendly. My wife was on a limited diet, and the menu wasnt very accommodating...but they never said they were or anything. Thatd be my only hesitation when recommending. There were PLENTY of things I wanted to eat.

I absolutely love this place! I moved to Southbury in 2004, and this has become a staple for breakfast and sometimes lunch. Pete and Stephanie run a traditional family diner. The food is always outstanding and Pete is a master at cooking how "you" like it. I came because of the corned beef hash, but have learned all of his meals are the best!

Small, friendly, cash only, like stepping into a time machine set to 1950s and has the best corned beef hash on the east coast. ... maybe the best on all coasts and believe me Ive tried a lot of the other so called "GREATS" and compared to Laurel theyre barely adequate.

The food here is incredible but the service could use some work. We were charged for eggs we never received and when it was brought to the attention of the server she crossed the item off the bill but didnt change the total. Also, no refills on drinks.

The quintessential small diner. Established in 1949. Pete knows how to prepare breakfast. Great corned beef hash, hash browns, flap jacks, real maple syrup. Forget about the chain restaurants and support the locals. They are so much better.

Took a drive out there loved the food Petes philly steak omelette was amazingly good, and so was the Pecan banana Belgian Waffle, wish it was an actual waffle size and the place better ventilated but all in all a great place for breakfast
