What can I say about the Vanilla Bean Cafe that hasnt already been said? So Ill just add my opinion to all these others. I "discovered" this place about ten years ago while exploring "the quiet corner" of the state on my motorcycle. Riding up Rt169 from Norwich is SO gorgeous! But I digress. The Vanilla Bean Cafe, or "The Bean as my riding buddies call it, is a destination in itself. Chatting with fellow riders that you meet here (along with the sports car crowd) in the beautiful setting its in, just makes the already excellent food even better. The huge menu always makes my choice that day really difficult, and all of the menu items that Ive sampled over my MANY stops here, I have yet to have what Id call even a mediocre meal. The chili,in particular has a spicy, yet not too hot quality. I highly recommend a stop here for anyone who has not yet tried it! Once you do, youll become a regular, just as I have.

The Vanilla Bean is a classic spot in Northeast, CT. The food is consistently good, the aesthetic is pleasing, but the value leaves MUCH to be desired. Case in point, I got a Beef and Cheddar sandwich a few days back with a coke and it was literally $14 on the dot, (and the sandwich was missing the cheddar cheese I might add). Its a basic sandwich with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and onion on a small-sized roll with horseradish mayo, not some oversized behemoth overflowing with unique ingredients that warrants a premium price. Im only rating the Vanilla Bean as two stars because its hitting the price point where it caters not to local residents, but to the wealthy families of the prep school students right down the street who inundate the Vanilla Bean every weekend. In short, I love the food, love the staff, but dont think Ill be going back anytime in the foreseeable future.

It was incredible. My husband and I just moved to Putnam and tried it out. His Belgium waffle covered in homemade whip cream and local maple syrup was perfect. My quiche home fries and fruit were beautifully arranged and deliciously fresh. His coffee was really good as was my latte. There was beautifully painted stikl life art for sale on the walls And soft jazzy piano in thr background. They dont believe in taxing after, their prices include tax Because they dont like the scheme of the 99 cent versus the 1$ mind game. They dont give all kinds of change, they give half pieces and quarters. The service was friendly and the food came quick. The whole experience was awesome. Worth going. Bring your mother there or something, shell appreciate it. :)

My experience was absolutely awful. After quite a horrid day at work, I decided to walk down for a hopeful meal, which turned out to be a $9 sandwich that I could have made myself. It consisted of cheap grocery store bread, and barely edible veggies. Needless to say, I couldve constructed this $9 sandwich myself for half the price. It was absolutely awful. The lounge is quite nice and cozy, but I will only make a purchase if I recieve a free 10 dollar bill. Its a great place for free WIFI, but their sorry excuses for sandwiches are depressing. :(

As an avid motorcycle rider a common them to heading out on the bikes is to ride and find food. The VBC is a destination because of its great location in eastern CT, the fantastic food, the amazing staff, and a gravel lot that turns into a motorcycle showroom on weekends! If you like to see bikes, or ride one, make this a destination. If you drive here use extreme caution in the parking lot when moving about!

A great way to spend some quality time together with family and friends! Its close enough to get to yet far removed. A beautiful warm New England historical landscape welcome you along the way. The menu offers a healthy variety. I and others just love the coffee. Whats better than that? To sit and enjoy the view with a brew!

The Vanilla Bean offers a good selection of mostly soups, salads, and sandwiches. Your order is placed at the counter, and the food is brought to your table. All the food Ive had there has been good. Outside seating is available in the good weather. It is a popular spot, especially on weekends when the weather is nice.

Friendly customer service. They really make you feel like youre at home and they make sure youre comfortable at the location. If you are unsure of what to order they will offer recommendations. This place is located in a peaceful location in Pomfret which gives it a country kind of feel which I love.

Super friendly staff and super nice atmosphere but food was bland. I will not eat there again. Shame Bcz I love eggs Benedict but not a fresh herb in sight or even some fresh ground pepper would have helped. Served with out of season fruit that also had no flavor. Even the holandaisse was blah.

One of the owners (Brian) came by our table and asked how things were going. Huge when leadership takes an interest in the patrons. Great atmosphere and food. The pie was out of this world. Chicken salad sandwich was a must have. Definitely making the trip from Gbury again soon.

Great Sunday AM breakfast ride for those on motorcycles, we are 30+ miles away and like to head here a few times each year, good home made food choices, a break from the same old same old. If I had to add a suggestion maybe add another coffee option to the mix.

Ryans ahi tuna is always on point. I usually build my own sandwiches, and Im there for an hour trying to finish it which I want to do because its always fantastic! But even if the food wasnt terrific, Id go just for the atmosphere.

Great location. I love the old building. The food is pretty good too. Nothing earth shattering, but certainly better than nearby options. I had a pulled pork quesadilla, which was pretty great. I would go again.

A casual atmosphere with a great menu for carnivores to vegans. Excellent food. Entertainment in the summer on weekends. The quiet corner of CT at its best if you want to take a scenic weekend drive.

The food here is amazing and fresh. The service was fast and organized. If you have a chance, order the bacon. I ordered additional sides of bacon because it was the best bacon Ive ever had.

11$ chicken sandwich. prices discriminate so they dont have too. over roasted Americanish coffee is fairly priced and gets the job done. trashy classical paintings adorn the restrooms.

Cozy little eatery in a quiet area. Wide range food menu that serves beer and wine. Outdoor seating is nice in the summer. Good spot for lunch while hitting up all the local antique shops
