I literally just finished stuffing my face with a delicious beef burrito (with potatoes) and felt happy and satisfied. I need quality mexican food in my life!! Its one of the things I miss enormously now that I no longer live in California. This was a delicious no-nonsense burrito with great salsa on the side. Ive also tried the al pastor burrito which is quite good too, but I think the beef with potatoes burrito is my new favorite. Great prices for the burritos too, which is another plus. Havent tried the rest of the menu yet, but I will eventually. The only thing that would make this place even more awesome would be if they had chilaquiles or posole. Side note, it might look closed, but its actually open. The first time I tried to go to this place, I thought it was closed and left disappointed. Came back a second time, still looked closed, and I was starting to get annoyed, tried the door anyway, and whaaaat it was open this whole time?!? A whole bunch of people eating in the back too. I felt stupid for not checking the door the first time. So dont be stupid like me.

The service was terrible and the menu has very poor descriptions. We ate here and my friend ordered a dish that was not labeled as having peanuts but DEFINITELY did. After having an allergic reaction, we sent the dish back and asked for a refund. The waitress initially tried to say no and said that it was listed on the menu, after checking she did agree to the refund. The waitress seemed unempathetic and did not apologize at all. I really dont think she realized the severity of the situation. They were also out of beef and forgot to bring the condiments that came with our meal. The waitress did not offer us water until after we had been at the restaurant for 45 minutes and had sent back the meal.

The food here was just ok. My daughter got enchiladas with green sauce, shes asked for the red sauce but was told its really spicy so she went with the green. The green sauce ended up being so spicy she couldnt eat it, ended up scrapping off the sauce. Shes not good with spicy food, but I have a better tolerance and I even thought it was too much. My tacos were ok but nothing great. The server rarely checked on us and wasnt friendly at all. We definitely wont be going back.

If youre looking for tasty, authentic Mexican food, La Cocinita is your place. In a city somewhat saturated with burrito places/carts, La Cocinitas burritos - Big, square, fresh, with excellent meat choices (for example, pork and pineapple!) are truly a cut above the rest. A superb lunch for 6 bucks. Its main entrees, while perhaps slightly more pricey than I would have expected (10-12 dollars) are well worth it. I highly recommend you check out this place.

La Cocinita is New Havens best kept secret! The chefs and employees - who get to know you personally - of this small restaurant serve up delicious, authentic Mexican food. Price is just right. The coffee is FANTASTIC. HIGHLY recommended!

By far the best Mexican food in New Haven. We went to Mexico last month and I swear this food was better. Tasty, tasty, tasty! Authentic. We will be going back for more and more :)

Its like being invited to your friends house and his grandmother and mother cook up a feast and keep encouraging to eat more because you look so skinny...This place ROCKS!

Family run, the food was pretty good and reasonably priced. Service was adequate. They were really trying. Id much rather patronize a place like this than a Chipotle!

Chicken burritos are excellent, as is the rest of the menu. Price is right. Family-run establishment. Hole-in-the-wall feel. Service can be slow if its busy.
