You can read through all of the negative comments, or you can read this. Probably wont make a difference. Lets be blunt :) The food is absolutely amazing. A lot of people complain about waiting for their food, but what do you expect? If youve ever cooked shoestring fries, you would know that they get very soft and squishy, like french fries from McDonalds. Duchess Rarely gives these types of fries out. When fries sit out for a long time and then the person throws them back into the fryer for a minute to heat them up, they tend to get that squishy feeling. (Duchess: 1 / McDonalds: 0) Have you ever ordered a burger from McDonalds before? Chances are, you have. But did you notice that your meal is ready in less than a minute? Yeah, of course its fast, but is it healthy? Duchess grills their burgers to perfection. You wonder why a few people are talking to each other. Perhaps its because the meal is being prepared by someone else, or.. Oh! Yeah! Maybe your food is still cooking :D (Duchess: 2 / McDonalds: 2) This was in no way meant to downgrade McDonalds, or promote Duchess. Im sharing my opinion, and I hope it helped! In the end, you just have to decide whether youre a Duchess person, or a McDonalds person. (Maybe youre both!) Have a wonderful day! Hope this review was useful to someone! :)

I liked the burgers, and some of the different sandwiches/wraps. The only thing I thing I am not a fan of are their fries. They dont have a crunch to them and they feel very heavy. My kids do not like their chicken nuggets either. But I do enjoy the option of the grill cheese or hot dog kids meals. The kids love those. There are also some healthier options on the menu, like salads and wraps. They also have great breakfast options too including french toast, pancakes, and different breakfast sandwiches. Some of the other things I have tried there includes chili, soup, coffees, fried clams/fried shrimp, chicken sandwiches, chili cheese burgers, etc.

I have been a fan of Duchess restaurants since the days when there was only one in Ansonia. The Naugatuck Duchess has consistently served poor quality food over the past several years. The Big D Pastrami, my favorite Duchess sandwich, that was served to me and my fiance a few days ago was nearly inedible. It was dry, stringy and not much meat on the sandwich - perhaps a good thing! My finance, a chef, said it very well could have been the worst sandwich that she has ever eaten. I will not ever return.

I have stopped many mornings for a bacon egg and cheese on a hard roll with extra bacon. The price varies from $4.36 to $4.99. I finally questioned the person there. She told me it goes by how. Any slices of bacon are on the sandwich. Well, I stopped today and ordered my sandwich...there were ONLY 4 slices of bacon instead of 5 as usual, and I was charged $4.99. I will Never return to Duchess ever again, and the sandwich could have been a lot better.i think McDonalds is better!

People in the back cooking my food no one wearing a hat plus the guy on the grill has a big disgusting beard nothing covering that either. The woman who took my order I dont know if she even speaks doesnt communicate in anyway bring your bag of food out put it on the counter and nods her head at you. For the amount of money they charge at this establishment they should at least provide you with at least bare minimum customer service. This will be my last visit there

The Front door...dirty...did not want to touch it!!! All the dining room tables sticky, grimey, and disgusting...dont get me started on the bathroom...just gross...The service, not much to brag about...they just seemed down in the dumps and somewhat rude. I love Duchess, but this particular Duchess needs to get it together!!!! I will not be going back to this place!

I watched one of the cooks from the window cook and prep food without gloves while she touched her face and neck. After I requested a new order that was not dirty only to find out they gave me a completely wrong order and served me food that I was allergic too. I would never come back and I recommend anyone that likes to have uncontaninated food to never go there.

EVERYTIME I go there they always get my order wrong and they take forever to make the food. Defiantly not a fast food place! Last time I went there the guy gave me the wrong change. Good food but horrible service!! And they are not sanitary at all the cashier had his hand all over my fries no gloves or anything!

Sad. Chicken sandwich is a joke compared to the (twice the size) sandwich at Wendys. The Big D items are not what they used to be when the first Duchess restaurants opened up many years ago. I just dont bother going there not worth it. McDonalds sells better food.
