Let me start by saying I have never in my life written a review of a restaurant. I read them often to get a feel for a place, but never write any. I decided to write this one, and in length, because we were SO disappointed in our meal. We thought for sure a place with 14 positive reviews would be good. We were mistaken. We live 45 min. from this restaurant and decided to venture out one Friday night to see what all the buzz was about and use a gift card my husband had won. Reading the reviews first, we went in with high expectations for great home cooked food and wonderful service. I knew to keep my expectations fairly low when it came to the ambiance seeing as this place is kind of in the middle of nowhere and right off the highway. We were greeted very warmly and realized right away this must be a local favorite as there was barely and empty seat in the restaurant. Our waitress was great. You could tell she was very busy, but managed to keep our drinks full and continued to serve us with a smile. The food came out rather quickly, which was good because my husband was starving. We started with the salad bar, which I found lacking. Although the ingredients were fresh, there were a few basic house salad additions I wish would have been there, such as tomatoes and cheese. For the main course, I had the light portion of the fried chicken and baked potato. The chicken was just ok. Ive definitely had better. My husband had the ribeye and a baked potato as well. He was not impressed with the "most popular item on the menu." Although it was cooked just the way he liked it, medium rare, he described the flavor as, "Not good." Haha which I guess explains it all. The potatoes were huge and came with butter and sour cream. We like ours with cheese as well, so we found these to be very bland. We also ordered dinner rolls with our meal. Let me tell you, it is not difficult to please me when it comes to bread of any kind; however, even the bread wasnt good! I will say it was cooked to perfection, but it had absolutely no taste. The only flavor you could get when eating the bread was by slopping a bunch of butter on it. How one can mess up bread is beyond me. We still had money to burn on our gift card, and knowing we wouldnt be back we wanted to use it all. So my husband ordered the peach pie ala mode. He got a huge portion, but only ate about half. I tried some of the ice cream, which was very good, but he said the pie was gross and tasted like it had been frozen for a while then cooked. Our meal was exactly $50.00 including the tip. This seemed very steep for the caliber of food we received. I was happy we had a gift card seeing as it would have killed me to pay that much for subpar food. There were other complaints that I wont mention seeing as its what I expected coming to a home-cookin family style restaurant. I must say this place was busy and there were even people waiting to be seated when we left. So maybe we just ordered the wrong food? Maybe it is more of a local joint seeing as there really are no other restaurants around. Perhaps families like getting out on the weekends to enjoy the only restaurant that is available to them, and dont quite see it really isnt that great? I dont know. My advice? Save yourself some money and make some good home-cookin of your own. Trust me, itll be better than this.

I want to like this place. It has a salad bar, my fiance likes their steak and its one of 3 restaurants in a 20 mile range to my home. But alas, their salad bar always has odd (and inconsistent) offerings - no broccoli, peppers or tomatoes - but it does occasionally have peanuts, mushrooms in marinade sauce and beets. The past two times here, weve had the unfortunate luck to have the same server who could not care less about her job or providing service. For example, she attended to a table next to ours and walked away without checking on us and had to be flagged down for drink refills. She waits about 10 minutes to return if you havent decided what to order and brings food out late (well over half an hour - and this is when it was NOT busy), making the past two visits just a nick shy of two hours each. TWO HOURS. Last time: The food sat way too long before being brought out. The plates were very hot but a grilled cheese was soggy on the bottom and the cheese actually re- coagulated; French fries were cold. Not slightly less heated - cold. The bottom of the burger was completely soaked through (to the point where my fiance ate the burger with a fork). When this was mentioned to the aforementioned server, she gave us the least genuine apology she could, and walked away. At least she took the price of the grilled cheese off. Most recent time: delays were the same. Food temp was better, but the fries tasted like they were cooked in older oil and were not good. The chicken parmesan sandwich was decent and the fiance, while saying the burger was "meh", did eat the whole thing without a fork. The good: Their homemade potato chips are great, and they have a wide range of menu options. The other servers weve had there are pleasant and attentive. Portions are huge and allow for next days lunch and they have tons of parking.

Not many places are worthy of 5 stars however this would have to be one of my top in the state of CO. weather your a farmer who has been in the field all day to a high end business class working man this is the place to go. There seems to be a wait at times however very much worth the wait. The layout of the restaurant is very busy and crowded. The decor is fun and entertaining. The prices can be high but worth it for what you get. The service seems to good but what really tops this place is the food itself. If you are a meat eater this is the place to go. You dont get any thing fresher and the quality of the food is almost organic. Always hot and the choices of cut are endless. I can see why this is a local favorite. I know it is one of mine!

My wife and Son and I saw the Pepper Pod on the way to the Wild Animal Sanctuary. After a great experience (and walking two miles) at the Wild Life Sanctuary we were ready for Lunch. We had a great experience at the Pepper Pod. My Son had the fish sandwich, I had the fish and chips, and my wife had a bowl of green chili with tortillas. We all ordered the one trip salad bar in addition to our entrees. Its hard to find a good salad bar these days and the Pepper Pod has an outstanding salad bar. All selections were fresh and crisp. All of us were happy with our meals and quantity/quality/price was excellent. The service was excellent as well. Recommend the Pepper Pod highly!
