A multi-generation, family-owned and run business that has the best French pastries and bread in Denver. They provide bread and pastries and numerous coffee shops and restaurants around town, which is a testament to the quality of their product. I drive from NW Denver on a regular basis just to pick up croissants and a variety of other items, and have been doing so now for numerous years, including when they were just a hole-in-the-wall just west of Denver University. Their new location is much more spacious and can better accommodate the crowds that line-up, especially on Saturdays. Reasonably priced as well, considering the typical level of bread and pastries they turn out. One thing they might be able to improve upon is their selection of gluten-free items, but this might not be realistically possible for the space they have. Definitely a Denver Destination!

Yes, their pastries are delightful!!! But Ive gotta say, their customer service is not. (And I feel like I must be missing something because everyone else says the opposite!) This bakery is an easy drive from my house - and I love their fresh bread (which is very affordable) and croissants - but I only go when I have a serious hankering and I dont want to bake myself. I swear every time I go there, the same lady helps me and she refuses to engage and is very short with me if she does. She acts like its such an imposition for me to ask questions. Im sorry Im not totally savvy about French pastries! I brought my mom here right after we moved to Englewood and as soon as we got back to our car, she whispered, "That lady was such a b***!" That was maybe #2 of 2 times I have heard my mom swear.

We love taking out of town guests to all our favorite spots and that is just what we did recently. Amazing flaky pastries here. When this placed first opened and the word got out there were lines out the door and for good reason. The lines have tamed and you can actually take a seat in the dining area now, but the popularity has not died, there is still a steady stream of people coming in. The pastries are still flaky and delicious! My husbands favorite is the Chocolate Pear Croissant and I am torn between the Coconut Cream and Chocolate Walnut. It is all good and never disappointing!

In college, I lived in Bordeaux, France and my absolute favorite pastry was a chausson aux pommes, a beautiful little pastry filled with apples or applesauce. I have NEVER found a bakery in Colorado that made them or even had heard of them until I walked into Trompeau for the first time today. They were absolutely delicious and as close to Frances best bakeries as Ive ever had. Hes only open until 2 p.m. (closed on Sundays, much to my dismay). We will drive in from Golden often...well worth the trip!!

After having lived in Seattle and San Francisco where some of the worlds best bakeries are operating, this place is very disappointing. Denver simply has zero options for truly authentic, high quality, delicious baked goods. The walnut croissant I bought was lackluster and way too big to be considered "authentic." the dough wasnt nearly as flaky, buttery and light as Ive been lucky enough to have before, but it was at least palatable.

Best place for French Bakery in Denver, dont waste your time anywhere else. Tasty with just the right sweetness to allow your palette to enjoy the subtle flavors of different types of bakeries. The fruit fillings/toppings are just perfectly made. Love the Baguettes, crunchy with just the right amount of rise on the inside. Theres a place on University in the Bronnie Brae area claiming to be french bakery, no comparison to Trompeau.

OK, so this is for sure among the best bakeries in town, for authentic French croissants. HOWEVER, the coffee here only gets a D-. Too bad... they use Kaladi coffee beans, but the brewing system is weak, and they make very watered down coffee. My suggestion is to buy your croissant to go and find another place to enjoy it. GREAT CROISSANTS NEED GREAT COFFEE.

Three times now I have ordered a couple of ham and cheese croissants and I get home and find Turkey in them. If I could get what I order I would love this place instead of just liking it very much. Come on guys, mark your stuff better and put the right thing in the bag next time. Dang!!!

i have never felt the need to write a review until i cam upon this place. I have been going for almost a year now, and am never disappointed in the pastries and bread. All the quiches are a must try, and the rustic organic baguette is amazing. go give it a try

By 9 am theyre sold out of all croissants. All you. All you can get is a quiche. When I asked when the next batch will be ready they said 2 hrs. Really? On a Saturday? This was my 3rd attempt of going there and I still havent had a ham and cheese croissant :(

Were so lucky to have Trompeau! They have delicious savory French baked goods. My favorites are the quiches. My kids love the croissants. And the bread is so good, my daughter insisted on spending her allowance on her own loaf!

We had a Croque-Monsieur for lunch-it was horrible!!! First is was offered to us cold and we had to ask for it to be warmed. It was soggy and the bottom half of the bread was not browned at all. Just one tasteless mess!

I love Barb and Pascal - and the rest of their staff too! So friendly, so warm and welcoming. Pascal and his bakers are masters. Denver is so lucky to have them here. The Chausson au pommes is like heaven on a plate!

You might want to talk to your drivers about not cutting people off on the road and not brake checking them trying to get them to rear end you, and then they cuss you out when they are the ones at fault!!!!

Fantastic croissants, bread, and quiches. The best croissants I have had in Denver - would hold there own in Paris. Counter staff friendly, owners extremely nice. The almond croissants are to die for!

Excellent french pastries by a true french baker, these are not loaded with sugar or high fructose like most large US city bakeries, instead like you would get in small villages in France.

Best Croissants in Colorado the best I have ever tasted in the U.S. I lived in France for 10 years, I know my croissant. Warning! The line is out the front door by7am on Saturdays.

Rediscovered Trompeau after fearing it had closed - turns out they have moved from their digs near the University of Denver and to a much larger space on South Broadway. Zoot alors!

The mushroom croissant is incredible as is everything that Ive tasted from the shop, savory to sweet. They do run out of things quickly (by 8 AM) so preordering is a great idea.

Some of the best fresh croissants in Denver. Very easy to support local family businesses when they are this good. Be careful, they run out pretty quickly on the weekends!
