There are two times I feel like Ive been kicked in the nuts. 1. When my girlfriend actually does it to me after I tell her how pretty her little sister looks. 2. Anytime I walk out of eatZis. While I would like to avoid the feeling of both, I find at least I get a good meal out of the former. eatZis is your local gourmet kitchen for all the local uptown/cedar springs/oaklawn folk. When you first walk in you will walk past huge ovens of freshly baked bread, and soup being cooked in front of you. Who ever manages this place is a genius. They have their patrons walking in smelling everything around them instantly turning them into zombies. Drug dealers take note, while you have to actually give you clients some product before taking advantage of them eatZis has mastered the art of only letting us smell their food before we are ready to debase ourselves for more of that sweet aroma. In addition to the bread and soups, eatZis also has a small produce section for cheeses, and pickled foods. The store is built around a center point were clients can choose from any number of prepared foods like meatloaf, blistered beans, mac & cheese, and glazed carrots. You can also buy protein in the raw, fish, meat, ect. They even have a large oven where hot meals are ready to be fired at your order. Perhaps the most popular location is the salad/sandwich line. Located in the back youll find people lined up, looking glossy eyed, drooling like Pavlovs dogs waiting for their number to be called so they can make their own sandwich or salad from scratch. I wont say very much about this. You can get just about anything you want - but be quick about it. Its amazing, and the primary reason you go to eatZis. Here is the catch for it all. Its is expensive. So much so that I keep waiting for the happy ending after I check out, I havent been able to find where that line starts however. 4 Stars to eatZis. The food is top notch, most people are very friendly and helpful. I can see most of the food being prepared, and that makes me happy. If the store was even larger, and had more offerings I wouldnt mind. Parking is sometimes tight, and the prices are out of control. Make sure you go here with those thoughts in mind, and a heavy wallet and youll have a great experience.

Im not sure what to think about eatZis... Its good, but its not great, and its bad, but its not horrible. We came before church on a Sunday for breakfast. There wasnt a line, and were not many people there, but it took 15 minutes for us to get served. FOOD: Waffle, eggs, bacon, and a burrito... 2 people. Im not THAT hungry. Couple of notes: the burritos are pre-made and wrapped; its whatever, but it tasted like quick service. The eggs are made with cheese which was FANTASTIC! However, they over-seasoned them. Bad idea. The bacon was great, thick, and crispy. Oh, and they asked if I wanted cream on the waffle. Of course! I LOVE whipped cream! Important note: the cream is like a vanilla cream. Its liquid. Makes for a really wet waffle. Lattes were dull. None of the food was anything to write home about. Next, the service. Oh geez... the service. Everyone in there seemed confused and somewhat like they hated their jobs. Not a good way to start a day. Actually, kind of depressing because they didnt seem happy. But thats whatever. I DO understand that customer service comes from management, so I assume the management of eatZis is horrible. If Im reading too much into it, thats fine. Tell me so. But those employees had a really low morale. And low morale typically doesnt appear out of thin air. After a pretty crappy breakfast and even worse service, they earned one-star. The ONLY redeeming factor of this "could be good if they made an effort" place was that they had a wide variety of cheeses, wines, and some pretty decent meats, salads, and sandwiches. I maybe back, but its definitely not at the top of my list. Good luck.

Went on a Sunday and had lunch with my husband, and after lunch we were standing at the front entrance to wait for my son to return with our car. And while waiting for the car, a gentleman walked in asking about strawberries, and the young man said go to the bakery. As the gentleman proceeded to ask a heavy set man about the strawberries, he directed another employee to call a manger, and I overheard him say to a young lady, these people are working my nerves. As the manager approached he asked the gentleman what it was he needed, and he told him chocolate covered strawberries. The manager left and returned a short while later and told him in a rather attitudish tone, we dont have any left, and then told him next time you need to call ahead and pre order them as we dont do impromptu orders like yours!! I was appalled at the managers attitude to a paying customer, and after the gentleman left the heavy set man laughed and said thats what they get for being stupid and not calling ahead!! After such rude conversation, I will NOT be returning to the location. I called to complain to the manager as to what I heard, and was told to mind my own business!!

Great food! While I understand the price can be fairly steep, the food makes up for it. Ican always count on good quality food and tasty too. Today I had the salmon with veggies and mashed potatoes, cost around 14.99 before tax. I added a drink and a bag of chips to use my 20 dollars google offer. The lady at the counter (jaan) acted like she had never used a google offer. She got really frustrated and her smile turned into a frown and soon I heard her complaining. She called the manager and had to wait for a few mins. The manager arrived and out the code in his phone. He greeted me and asked how i was doing. During this time she continued to complain. The girls next to her tried to help her as she threw up her arms while punching the code in. Then she gave me the phone with the code and said "read it to me, I cant see." minus her lack of service and disgruntled behavior for having new technology, eatzi would be 5 stars in my book. I hope this lady gets a job in a non service industry and not at the register any longer because service does count in peoples reviews.

The food here is sub-par and the customer service is mediocre. This is a multiple visit post. Ive picked up the following: pimento cheese (tastes like mayo and cheddar cheese), italian muffins (tasted like rancid sourdough bread), small chicken dinners (yellow broccoli and sour mashes potatoes), chocolate cupcakes (funny flavor to bread). Each time Ive visited, the employees have treated me like their work is more important than helping me: e.g., one employee completing inventory would not move to allow me to get to the prepared meal case; the lady working the cheese counter only nodded her head and resumed working when I asked a question; and, the cashier Olivia accepted another customer before me when I was at the counter first and did not apologize when I commented that I had been waiting before the other customer. Multiple visits and each time sub-par food and mediocre service.

I love eatZis. It is your one-stop shop for everything delicious. You can come here for breakfast, lunch, dinner and/or dessert, because there is everything you can think of packed into one small market. eatZis is the perfect place if you want to grab a quick meal. Since it has everything you could ever want in a meal, eatZis is also the perfect market for a picnic. eatZis has everything you could ask for packed in a small shop -- a build-your-own pasta station, a salad station, a sandwich station, a grill station, desserts, wine, bread, among others. This is my to-go place for when Im lazy to cook dinner yet still want something delicious and affordable. I dont want to say cheap just because once you walk into eatZis you walk out spending more than you anticipated. Yes, its that addictive and that amazing!
