The breakfast here was slammin! I had the omelet with green chili sauce (I forget the name, it was on the specials). The portions were hefty and I couldnt finish the plate. I gave the food a 3, but the service, not so much. The reason I gave it a 1 was because my waitress had a bad attitude and seemed genuinely unhappy to serve me. She did not give me any silverware (I had to ask for it), and when I asked to refill my coffee and my water she acted like it wasnt her job, continued to pour my coffee, spilling it all over the table. She did not apologize, nor did she clean it up. She just turned her head and walked away. Im not particularly picky about service either, but her service just flat out sucked. Rude, crude, and socially unacceptable! (as my 6th grade English teacher would put it) Still, I highly recommend Durango Diner, just hope you dont get Debby Downer as your waitress ;)

Everything was incredibly bland, and tasted totally unseasoned. I ordered huevos rancheros, which is supposed to be made with refried beans. What I got was a soppy wet pile of pinto beans out of the hot tray. The waitress didnt want to take it back, so my fiance and I picked it over and both ate her dish, which was also very mediocre but at least edible. The so called famous green chile sauce was also very bland, not sure how they even managed to suck the flavor out of green chiles like that. Very unimpressed, and worst part, NOT EVEN CHEAP. Its ~$10 / plate for breakfast. Not that thats outrageous, but for your money you can get something good instead.

We ordered hand held burritos to go and we got a deer in the headlights look. It was as if they had never heard of such a thing. I had to explain how they should be prepared. Then when I got the bill it was more than $10 per burrito. I was expecting the flavor to match the price. Hash browns were undercooked. Chili was bland and it was more a potato burrito than anything else. We ordered 4 and no one could finish them because they just didnt taste good. Very dissatisfied.

My husband and I make it a must stop when we visit Durango. We love the food, huge portions and everything tastes homemade for a decent price. We always look forward to stopping in, it isnt an upscale dinner but it has a hometown feel to it. The staff is always welcoming, our only wish is that we could visit more than one week a year. ☺ Our next trip is upcoming August and we cant wait!

A must go! Staff was friendly, felt like I was at home (Texas). Food is phenomenal, how they make the food taste that good is a miracle. We sat right by the grill and the cook who I believe was the owner made us feel like family. Wish we had one back home but when we come back to Durango this all definitely be a place we stop! Sincerely, A very full and happy Texan

Large portions will fill you up and the servers are kind and quick to fill your order. This place has a family feel to it and you can watch your food being prepared. The green chili here is by far the best in the town and it tastes fresh too!!! The hashbrowns are made from fresh grated potatos not that frozen bag stuff!! This is a must try place!!!

Was told this was a local favorite so keen to eat there on our last morning in Durango. Massive disappointment. Ordered Corned Beef Hash. Luke warm, watered down coffee, a slab of the most undercooked, un washed, starchy hash browns, two badly cooked eggs on top of a cup, at best, of average hash. The toast was great!

The food simply isnt good, however, portions are large. Also, you have to get past all the anti-Obama bumper stickers and signage all over the walls, which is just strange. After having our food for five minutes and no silverware, our waitress kindly brought them though she never actually spoke to us. Coffee was hot!

Durango Diner is listed in "Road Food" by Jane & Michael Stern as one of the 8 best eateries in Colorado. The food is the greatest and the portions are large. Ive been to all 50 states and the breakfast here is the best; not to mention the time-warp ambiance of a 1940-50s diner.

Not quite 5* since the ambiance needs some investing, but by recommendation from friends, we tried "The Cure" - a huge platter of green chili-topped eggs, awesome thick-cut bacon, and potatoes. Really good. Should try. Waitress agreed good choice too. A great breakfast dive.

Excellent food. I was a little worried after sitting down and finding myself in the typical greasy spoon environment, but I was pleasantly surprised with the great food and good prices. The [huge] fresh blueberry pancake was probably the best Ive ever had.

This place might seem like a dive, but its a staple for all of us who grew up there! I visited my hometown again last week and as always the breakfast and green chili cannot be beat! I highly recommend trying this awesome place when you travel to Durango!

An ABSOLUTE must if you are ever in Durango, I make it a point to stop here to get the "half and half" biscuits and gravy because they are incredible! Small town feel with excellent customer service and awesome pricing for the size portions you get!

Stop using whatever fake fat your using on your griddle and use clarified butter instead. Also get a bowl, a clean dish cloth, and some salt to make your hashbrowns. What you have now is eating wet fake fat covered grated potatoes, not hashbrowns

The place for breakfast in Durango. And after traveling the hinterlands and heading back to New Mexico, its nice to find a place that knows how to do green chile in the correct manner, i.e. the New Mexican way.
