A friend of mine and I decided to get an Irish meal -- since it is St Patricks day soon and after looking at several menus -- we decided upon Irish Snug. However, we were very disappointed. The website did not mention anything about a "limited menu" due to the anticipated crowds (Im guessing). Paid a $5.00 cover for Make A Wish (I think) --- which was fine - but the menu on the table where we paid the cover had more on it then the one we were given at the table downstairs...and the people manning the table had no idea and didnt seem to care...it was a bit like false advertising -- even if most of the patrons were there to drink and not eat... We asked about drink specials...the only "special" they had was an increase in price. The drink menu stated my Apricot Blonde was supposed to be $5....the tab came and it was $6.00. EVERYTHING was served with / in plastic. The lamb stew was really good....but I know I didnt get my $9.00 worth as it had maybe 4 chunks of lamb and came out in a small plastic bowl. My friend got the corned beef and cabbage -- which was a special price, my guess is is because it also came out in a small plastic bowl - that made cutting the brisket difficult without spilling some of it. The server brought out plastic ware for the food -- which, ok, expecting lots of business....but I had to ask for a spoon....so different pre-packaged plastic ware came out. Totally understand, it is St Patricks Day weekend -- expecting lots of patrons....but if a change in menu -- put it on the website -- we know you updated the website for all the bands.....really should have updated it for a menu too. Left hungry and went to a different establishment for dessert --- as this was not on the edited menu either....the dutch apple pie sounded really good. Had it not been the Saturday before St Patricks Day --- the review may have been better......very disappointed.

I used to work here. Everyone reviewing should know if you write a bad review of a particular employee, that employee will be fired with no opportunity to clarify or provide information. Even if the mangers/owners suspect that a poor review may be about either "employee one" or "employee two", they will just fire both. The staff is overworked and underpaid, so keep that in mind when writing your review. Im not writing this as a scorned ex-employee, in fact I gave my two weeks notice and still frequent the place, I liked my peers and actually liked the managers and owners but the restaurant/bar industry is notoriously known for overworking and under paying staff, thats just the way it is. Also note servers and bartenders get no paycheck, they rely solely on tips to make ends meet. If you dont tip, your server just worked for free. Compensation varies from state to state, Colorado happens to be a state where the industry isnt required to pay employees hourly unless their declared tips for the fiscal week averages out to be under minimum wage. In that case the employer is required to compensate the employee with a check to ensure compliance with minimum wage laws. The food is yummy, the selection of alcohol is amazing, and overall, its a fun place to hangout, joke around with your server/bartender and have a drink and some food with friends. Oh yeah, Happy hour? Its an amazing deal!

Went for St . Patricks day celebration. GF found the place and selected based on advertised celebrations. Upon arrival, was greeted with a $5 cash only cover charge the website had neglected to mention. After having to get cash. We soon found the food and drinks in tent area also was cash only (again, never mentioned) Then went to the basement to grab dinner off the St . Patricks day menu. The menu advertised happy hour and we ordered believing we were there during happy hour. Payed a bit more then was expecting as the menu advertises happy hour yet they have no happy hour on St . Patricks day. Also found it strange that they did not play much irish music but general rock in the bar itself. Felt very nicked and dimed the whole time. Food and the live music was good but due to the cost, lack of upfrontness, and misleading happy hour on the St . Patricks day menu, I am unlikely to be back.

As an "out of towner" I am always sure to hit up the Irish Snug when Im in Denver. The atmosphere is always great and fun whether there for lunch, dinner, or late night drinks. The menu is full of great selections for great prices and I have never been dissapointed with what Ive ordered! You cant go to The Snug without ordering the warm garlic blue cheese and bacon dip, served with potatoes for dipping....an absolute must! I have also always received great friendly service from all of the staff! An all around great experience! I look forward to my future visits to the Irish Snug anytime I find myself in Denver!

This is a great place for several reasons. If youre younger, they have the bar in the basement for hanging out. If youre 30-40, the ground floor is set up for that. Trivia? Yep. A running club? Yes. Busy, but not too crazy? Yes. One of the coolest things at The Snug happens on Wednesday nights. Theres a gypsy jazz group that plays after 8. Sometimes people dance. Its really great. The guys in the group are very professional. Want a nice place, but not too nice, for a date? Wednesday nights (or any night) is a cool option. AND, their patio gives you front row seats to the shenanigans of Colfax Ave. Haha!

Every time I go I have a blast and the food selection is absolutely excellent. Updated 8/21/2014: Went back this past weekend and enjoyed myself as much as ever. More updates: Ive been in a number of times since and the food has continued to be excelled. The service is always great. They have some very tasty bottomless mimosas if you go for brunch. And the patio right off colfax offers some excellent entertainment as you watch the interesting stream of folks walking down the sidewalk.

Went here for Saint Patricks day and presently surprised at the good service on a busy day. They were very organised with people coming in and it didnt get too crowded as I was expecting. The drinks were reasonably priced and even though our waitress had a lot of customers to handle she always checked in on us and updated us on food etc. Its a much bigger place than I thought with a down stairs and a back patio. I also had the shepherds pie and it was delicious.

CBS local advertises this as the best Shepards pie in Denver. I disagree. Tasted awful. Taste like beef stew from the can, thrown on a skillet, with a scoop instant mashed potatoes thrown on top. Told the bartender, Kat, it wasnt good, and she walked off. No sorry, no nothing. She couldnt have cared less. Not a good experience. Plus, after saying the good wasnt good, couldnt get a refill ok my beer. Was completely ignored after that.

The Snug is a fantastic place for craic, with all the nibbles and whiskey you may like. The inside has a wonderful cozy feel and the staff makes the stop go from brief to lingering while you have another pint and wait for the live music. There is definitely a fantastic AYCD mimosa special that requires you to order an entree, but honestly thats just smart of you to do. By all means come by and sit a spell.
