I live down the street and never tried the place until last night and I will NEVER be back. I was treated VERY rudely by the bartender as soon as I walked in the door. She spent 5 minutes questioning my passport and having an attitude when I calmly explained I do not have a license (due to a dui) or any other form of id. I had my checkbook and debit card with my name on it and of course my LEGITIMATE passport. She then asked for another id in an extremely rude tone. It wasnt what she was asking, it was the way she was asking. Although I did not have another id, I would not have stayed here if I did. Why would I still want to take my bussiness to such an ignorant person... I told her we were leaving and she threw my passport back at me, barking about it being her right to ask for another id, & whips the napkins up from the bar..... Grow up lady. Sorry you are so miserable you have to take it out on the people who essentially pay your bills.

I live in the neighborhood behind this bar and have been coming here for 6 years with no issue. I know the new owner and have had several friendly conversations with her. I was in last night with my wife and brother in law. When my wife asked the bartender working a question about the tab, the bartender became very upset and combative stating she was sober and we were drunk as well as she was TIPS certified and had been bartending for 30 years. After she stormed off I asked her to come back to explain we werent trying to cause any problems. Her response was she had other customers and did not have time for this. I gave her my business card and asked for a call from the owner. She threw it away right in front of me and walked away. We left right after this and she told us in front of other customers to never come back. Its a shame because we have always enjoyed this place. I will share our experience with friends, family, and neighbors.

I started being a regular when the new owners took over. Never went there before the new owners because the place had a bad rep. This is a great neighborhood bar. Ive read a few of the other posts and feel that they are misleading. Just after the new owners started there was several problems with the bathrooms that were caused by the lack of maintance of the old owners, but these were quickly fixed and I dont know anyone who has a concern about using them now. The new owner stripped the kitchen to the bare walls and cleaned it completely. The food is good bar food. They are brining out a new menu which should improve on this. The owner and staff are friendly and I dont remember ever receiving bad service.

As other reviews have alluded to, if you seek the company of truly closed minded and ignorant individuals this is your bar. A neighborhood place where the local alcoholics gather as a brief reprieve from their average days of drinking alone. The staff figured if they were gonna be drunk all day they might as well sell it to their buddies; share the misery right? Make sure you are at least 100 pounds overweight, 55 years or older, and dressed as if youve been working on your car all day and "forgot to shower because those drinks just couldnt wait" in order to be permitted even basic service.

The Columbine Lounge has a KILLER smothered burrito; The Green Chili is homemade and is the best that I have had in a long time. It is better than any store brands. I think it should be sold in stores or at the lounge for people to take home. Highly recommend it.

The Columbine Lounge is a great place to spend an evening. Its got a fun atmosphere, and the customers and staff are friendly. The menu is basic bar food, but its nicely prepared and everything tastes good.
