Im not sure Ill be back. I know its Restaurant Week and all, but this food was sub-par at best. Good service for the most part. The oysters offered when we arrived out to be delicious but they came out at the exact same time as our apps did which is fine but it made the table a bit more crowded. I think our apps were the best part of the meal because it went downhill from there. I had the strawberry salad (it was bland, nearly flavorless, and I didnt even finish it) and my husband had the trout dip (surprisingly delicious, no compliments or complaints). Moving on to our entree my husband had the steak diane and I had the half chicken. I read some reviews about inconsistent portions and presentations, sadly they were true. My husbands steak was small, undercooked (he asked for medium and got rare), and lacking in portion size (ie the potatoes that were served under the steak were next to nill). Which brings me to my comical "half chicken" and what I got was far from that. More like half of a half of a chicken soaking in greasy fatty au jus (worst au jus Ive ever had) and quite literally ONE quarter sized piece of overcooked mushy squash. Actually, I take that back. I discovered a total of three mushy pieces of squash, but the other two had disintegrated. The chicken was overcooked and over salted. I hated it and the crummy au jus that came with it. Again, I did not finish my plate. (The waiter never caught on to this but then it occurred to me that I was sitting in a sea of stick figures and they were probably used to gals picking at their food). On to dessert! This should have been the best part but like I had the meal went downhill from the get. My husband had the salted caramel ice cream and I had the strawberry peach crumble. Again with the weird portion sizes! I get a mound of dessert and my husband gets a taste. So strange. His tasted okay. Mine was awful. They put ZERO sugar into the crisp and the crumble on top was so hard I thought I was going to crack a tooth. I cant say well be back to try the regular menu. Especially being we spent $130 (tip included) during Restaurant Week for the awful meal we were given last night. Sad and disappointing.

We had a wedding celebration dinner event with 20 people in early August 2015 at Humboldt. The event planner, Molly, was very accommodating and easy to work with. The food, beverages, and everyone involved vastly exceeded our most optimistic expectations! Every one of the people involved from the restaurant worked to make the event a huge success. Our servers Natalie and Nikhol were very helpful and took great care of our guests. We also had a great experience working with Brian (Sommelier), Justin (Bar Manager), and Ian (General Manager). Many of our guests commented that it was the best meal they had ever had. We also had a couple people in the party that have work extensively in high-end dining….and one of the comments I personally heard from them was, “this is the best long-table event I have ever been to”. We would highly recommend Humboldt for events or just dinner!

A little on the high side for pricing, but the food tasted great. If you like oysters there are three kinds; a $1.95 NY which is pretty "bleh", as well as a $3+ and a $4+ west coast oyster. Both the west coast were hands-down the best oysters I have ever had. This said, happy hour was quite disappointing. We ordered a dozen of the "$2 shuckers choice oysters", thinking wed get a nice variety, and were instead given a dozen of the $1.95 NY oysters. I asked our waiter if this was just luck of the draw, but he said the NY is typically what you get. This experience of cleverly charging more during happyhour, left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. We decided that we will go to Humboldt when we are really craving high end (high priced) oysters, and well go to Jax Fish house for happyhour. Same quality happyhour oysters, but only $1.50.

Im just not a fan of this place. The food was tasty, the waiter was good, wasnt too long of a wait but there was something very off to me. Im going to be honest but I think I had higher expectations based on other reviews and when I went in it was much more, average joe, than I expected. The food although good didnt really wow me at all and for what you are paying for I feel like they could have done better, from menu selection to presentation. Also I ordered a cocktail, side car. I essentially got an old fashioned and when I asked if they made a mistake I was told that no, I had gotten a side car. I may be over critical, but I just cant bring myself to go back there. It would seem others had a much better experience that may be more indicative of this spot but not me.

Generally good food (the times I have eaten there), HOWEVER; if you have a vegetarian in your party DO NOT bother taking them to this restaurant. I called as I wanted to ensure that they would make something for my brother who is a vegetarian and got a response that he could only have Salad and the other small plates that were already vegetarian. There was no effort to be accommodating or ensure that he would have a great meal at their restaurant. This is unbelievable in our young city where so many dinners are vegetarians and vegans. Due to this I will not be taking my family there as I was hoping to while they are visiting this week. Hoped for a great meal but never even got the chance to see what they could do.

We are in Denver for a conference and after looking online for a place to have a nice meal, settled on Humboldt. We were not disappointed. We went on a Monday around 6pm and were seated immediately. Our waiter Jonathan was personable and very knowledgeable about the drinks and the menu. After a conversation with Jonathan, I had the braised short rib with beets and goat cheese polenta. The rib was fork tender and succulent. The beets did a nice job, tempering the goat cheese. It was all out delicious. My husband had the the crispy bass, it was fried to perfection and the teriyaki sauce was an added bonus. If we ever get back to Denver, we wouldnt hesitate to come back.

Went here for my birthday. First time we tried going, we tried to go with my daughter, but they would not let us in. It was 6:30 on a Thursday and while there were definitely a lot of people, it was not full; however, they claimed to be completely full until 9:30 pm. We came back the next day at the same time without our daughter and they immediately made space for us. Service was actually pretty solid and our drinks were amazing but my meal (fish) was so dry as to be barely edible. Server made no comments on me finishing less than half of the fish. I was hoping for a much better experience judging by the reviews, but it looks like theyre mostly hype.
