Theyre a fairly new restaurant so Im guessing the slower service was due to that. The restaurant was also almost at full capacity. The sushi chefs were pumping out the sushi fairly fast but the kitchen was slow. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful. She gets 4 stars only because she wasnt the most efficient. She seems like a quick learner though and Im sure shell be better next time. I got the boring yellowtail, tuna, and salmon nigiri just so I could get a baseline of their sushi. Definitely not very fresh but not terrible. The uni was okay. I wouldnt order it again. I also got the shrimp tempura which was very good and I liked the array of vegetables in it. The tempura sauce was good but the salsa that was included didnt really go with the dish. My husband got the ginger chicken and it had alot of flavor. Loved that the miso soup had mushrooms, tofu, and greens in it. Really added to the flavor. The salad had the potential to be good but someone didnt completely dry the lettuce and the excess water diluted the dressing. Ignoring the salad and the sushi, the food gets 4 stars. The ambience gets a5 star. Im a big fan of the modern Japanese look. Just be careful of the wicker tables. Sometimes there are some sharp things that can poke at you. Love all the dragons too, especially the crystal one over the entrance.

Very nice ambience in the restaurant. Went on a Monday night - not crowded at all. Ordered gyoza app, and tempura shrimp and sesame chicken entrees. Gyoza were very good - but very small. Miso soup very fishy tasting. Just miso broth and seaweed - nothing else. Little salad was fine - lettuce was not drained enough - so the dressing got a little watery. Tempura came to the table before the sesame chicken. My husband thought it was very good. The sesame chicken finally arrived. Hot. That was good. Served in a wonton bowl, very unique. Not a big portion though. Chicken was overcooked - no chicken flavor and kind of chewy. The sauce was very fishy tasting - which was very unappetizing. If I had wanted fish, I would have ordered fish. No hint of sesame taste at all. No chicken taste! Just fishy taste. Too much fishy sauce! The pieces of chicken were swimming in it. Like they were trying to drown the taste of overcooked chicken. Will try it again - but not the sesame chicken!

Had eaten here for lunch and food was good, (the sushi was better than other food); however the service was slow and not at all attentive but wanted to try for dinner. Sushi bar seating was left dirty from previous patrons and had to wait for it to be cleared. Decor is nice, but half of the LED lights not working and were flashing and are distractingvery. Finally sat and took while for a server to come over. Asked a simple question about saki. Server tried but didnt understand, so he said he said he would sent someone else over. (Nice guy, but did not speak enough English to understand.) Waited but no one came. Sushi chef did not greet us, as is customary, and never came over. We finally left after 10 minutes of no service and felt invisible. People visibly sweeping kitchen while waiting for service. 2 stars rather than 1 because of good food from previous visit. Very disappointing.

Coming from California, I was a bit dubious about sushi in the mountains. Dont get me started on raw oysters in the desert (Vegas). Anyway, I was over on Northgate one day, exploring my new area, and I saw Mikado Asian Bistro. I decided Id just give it a try. I was NOT disappointed. Oh, my...the toro (tuna belly) and the white tuna will melt in your mouth. The rolls are all very good. The salmon skin roll has meaty pieces of salmon with the skin attached and is crispy and delicious - I do recommend the hand roll over the cut roll, as I do the spicy tuna. The food has always been consistently good and very fresh. As for the service, I love these guys and gals! Theyre all friendly, helpful and just plain nice! I cant say enough about Mikado! Needless to say, I do go often and Ive turned on a friend or two to this place, as well. I highly recommend this restaurant.

In general this spot isnt bad. The servers were friendly, though not as polished as the outside of the restaurant might lead you to believe. We were a party of 6 and 3 of us had mistakes in our orders (chicken instead of shrimp, wrong type of rice served, etc. The server said the cook made the mistake). The amount of food is a little smaller than in other places you might go to for the price. The menu needs a proof reading (several mistakes per page). Also, the Hot & Sour soup was so spicy I could not finish it, and it had very little sour notes to it. The spicy basil shrimp (chicken is what I received though) was supposed to be spicy too, but it was fairly bland. Overall Id give it a B-/C+. Oh, there is also a large selection of jewelry just inside the front door for sale.

Tried this place out for lunch recently. Service was poor, but likely due to language issues. I ordered a green tea, what was brought out smelled and tasted like rotten fish. Sent it back. Ordered Kung Pao Chicken with fried rice and miso soup. I was brought out the wrong soup, then provided the correct soup, which as another review mentions was also strangely fishy. The dish that was brought out tasted average, the portion was very tiny for the price (think PF Chang prices), and was served with steamed rice instead of fried rice. I wont be back.

Uncomfortable seating at sunset with light glare and no shade on the door, moved twice. The place was empty but they kept giving us bad tables. Blinking lights on signs were tacky and distracted from the ambience. Once the food came, it was equally as bad as everything else to that point and we ate a few bits and asked for the check. The waitress didnt ask if it was ok or anything when it was obvious we werent eating it. We had fried shrimp and sushi. Ill not return, I suggest you pass on this place for anywhere else.

I honestly dont have any idea how this place has positive reviews. The restaurant is tacky and disjointed, the menu is long and the execution is pitiful. The food was so bad I couldnt take more than a couple of bites. I ordered yakiudon, so it shouldnt have been a challenge. It was all flavorless. Dont go here. I recommend Sushi Ato and Jun for Japanese foods, Lanna Thai for Thai food, San Chang House for Korean, and theres not much in the way of good Chinese in Colorado Springs.

Sushi was not bad, the rolls were pretty gross. Good hot and sour soup. Service was horrible, high chairs were broken, waitresses (multiple they all appear to service the whole place) had to be asked 3 times to bring our 15 month old a little bowl of rice. No one asked how the food was or if we needed anything. Prices are way too high for what they are selling. There are better places for sushi in the Colorado Springs area.
