I cant understand why people like this place. My family books reservations here for every family gathering. Ive been maybe a dozen times now. The service is routinely terrible; more than once, waitresses have gotten impatient that we didnt understand their accent. Another waiter took 40 minutes to come take drink orders, 30 minutes to deliver them, another hour to deliver the meal. Mine was the wrong dish. The waiter seemed hesitant offering a replacement, but I didnt want to wait another hour so I just ate what I was given. Then we were left hanging until I went and asked someone for the ticket. The food itself has been bland across the board. Maybe thats authentic German cuisine; I cant say. The check: Wow. Maybe nondescript meat in a standard brown sauce with various shaped noodles is way more expensive to make than I think. Maybe a venue in a shady part of town (I can say that, I was raised just up the hill) is more expensive than I think. Maybe crabby personnel are way more expensive than I think. But I dont think so. The atmosphere is fine, its kitschy. However when they send the woman around with her accordion, it is no longer possible to have a conversation anywhere in the room. When shes right behind you, its deafening. When you think its over but someone jovially requests an encore, you think, "No...no no no nononono!" but its too late. Still, my family is going to drag me to this place forever, so I need to make peace with that. Hopefully you wont have to.

Visited on 11/25/2016 While on vacation in the Springs our family hosts could not stop raving about Edelweiss. Upon arriving I could not help but notice how much the building resembled the many german restaurants located throughout Wisconsin. I’ve never been to Germany and Wisconsin is the closest I’ve come to it…. Based on pictures I’ve seen, there isn’t much of a difference. Upon recommendation I ordered the Jagerschnitzel with Hunters Gravy and spaetzle. For my drink I went with a cold Warsteiner Dunkel. The weather outside was a little cool and nothing sounded better than a hearty meal and sturdy drink. The Jagerschnitzel was soft, tender and well cooked. The texture was soft enough to break apart the second you bit into it. No extra chewing required…. Just a couple of bites to savor the flavor and move on to the next bite! The Hunter’s Gravy was a great touch with a rich, thick and full-bodied flavor. The gravy wasn’t overpowering and provided the accent that it’s intended to provided. The spaetzle was good and the texture was just right. Not too soft or chewy…. The Warsteiner was a great combination and really brought the entire dinner together. Although the restaurant was busy the staff was very accommodating and provided very good service. This is definitely on my places to visit when I’m in the area. I just have to remember to make reservations because from what I saw and from what I was told…. This place gets very busy…. Very quick.

We enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, and the friendly staff very much; no complaints whatsoever for those. The quality of service and the prices, however, left much to be desired. You do get large portions, and the food is good, but $15+ on average for one roll, a small salad, and an entree of meat, noodles, and cooked cabbage? When we arrived, no one was manning the front desk; we must have waited at least 10 minutes before someone came to seat us. During and after the meal, our waitress refilled the glasses of those who ordered tea, but not those who had water, and it took her a long time to get the check processed. I ordered a small portion, but when my food arrived, it looked like there was just as much food on my plate as the others. Based on the total amount of the meal, I think they gave me a full portion. I would have checked the check, but they didnt leave it with me. If we were alone and werent out with friends, I would have asked them about it. Id love to go back because the food was that good, and Im glad I went once for the experience. But because of the prices, I wont ever go back. FYI, making reservations is a good idea.

I was in on Thursday night. I and my family go to this restaurant several times a year. I would say we spend a ton of money a year here. Anyway I ordered extra jager gravy. No big deal. I had a blonde pony tail male waiter. I have always ordered it. I look at my bill and I see that he charged me $2.75 for it. I can afford this all day long. I find it highly insulting that he or management would charge me for this. Either way I hope this restaurant understands that me and my family will never be back. You charge me for gravy that you will throw in the garbage at the end of the night? Congrats you got your $2.75 but you lost our money plus we will tell everyone what kind of restaurant you run!!! Its a shame. I love this place but I will never ever come back!!!! TY for your response. I would think that myself and my family who spent hundreds of dollars in your restaurant within the past year getting extra gravy is not a giveaway. Further we were going to do a family dinner there last Sunday. We were going to have a party of 8. So we skipped your place. Your $2.75 charge for a small cup of gravy cost you a couple of hundred easy. Not smart!!!

The atmosphere here cant be beat, decorated very beautifully in traditional German fashion. I was impressed by the staff, particularly the hostess who sat me as well as served me, as she was extremely friendly and attentive. They dont have sweet tea, so if youre used to that being a given like I am, dont get the raspberry tea thinking itll be sweet. Its not, and it doesnt taste very good either. The coffee is good though! This was my very first time having true authentic German food, and it was honestly surprising. After getting over my initial displeasure from tasting flavors I wasnt used to or wasnt expecting, it was actually delicious and enlightening (I got the jaegerschnitzel, and I wasnt expecting the sweetness in the mushroom sauce). I ended up too full to order dessert, but Im confident that if I had gotten anything (particularly the bread pudding, which was very tempting), I wouldnt have been disappointed. I will likely go again, and try some of the other menu items. Definitely convenient that theyre open without any transition breaks, unlike some of the other German restaurants in town.

My wife, two children and I had dinner at the Edelweiss last night. We loved the atmosphere and people we parking 2 blocks away just to eat here. I lived in the Frankfurt area for four years, occasionally go back to Germany and have always loved the food. My wife and I shared 3 plates, the Bratwurst, Rump steak and Wienerschnitzel. The schnitzel was amazing. The Rump Steak was cooked to perfection, but It was hard to taste the meat through the gravy. If Im paying $25+ for a steak, I want to taste steak. With that said, the gravy was pretty good. The Bratwurst was a Bratwurst. As expected. This may sound crazy, but the bread was out of this world. I stole a few pieces of brotchen, please dont tell the owner. The server said they make the bread elsewhere. I want to know where this bread is made so I can buy a house next door to that place!!!! I gave this place 4 stars for its authenticity and flawless veal schnitzel. Next time, and there will be a next time, I will ask them to hold the Gravy and throw a scoop of garlic butter on my steak. It would have been perfect... for me. Thank guys!
