I based our selections on DishTip’s top items, cross referenced to three review sites for Bistro Jeanty. The Crème de Tomate en Croute was a piece of theater as well as deliciousness. Breaking through the pastry encrusted cap, a pleasing amount of hot soup filled the bowl. I would definitely order it again. “Julie and Julia’s” Boeuf Bourguignon was very disappointing. The meat was well cooked, and the carrots were great, but the sauce was among the blandest I’ve ever eaten. I would not order it again. Daube de Boeuf The meat was well cooked and the sauce was OK. The carrots that accompanied it, were as described, cooked in butter, but did not relate to the ‘stew’. I would have expected at least a higher quality carrot if it was going to be so simply prepared. I would not order this dish again. Crème Brûlée au Chocolat One reviewer wrote that this was a dish she shared with her friends. I couldn’t imagine wanting to share a really great Brûlée with anyone. She was right. This dessert is very rich. Four bites was enough. I would order it again after a light meal. Bread Pudding The sauce tasted wonderfully of vanilla bean. The bread pieces were firmer than I often find in bread pudding. My only criticism was, I could not taste the rum. While I loved this dessert, I desperately wanted to add a couple of tablespoons of rum sauce to it. I will request it next time. The atmosphere was crowded an informal. The service was excellent. I’m not sure if we went on an off day with the beef dishes, or we ordered the wrong entrees. I will return to try several other entrees to see if I can enjoy a near perfect meal.

It was a special day for my daughter and i how much better to complete that with a trip to the valley for dinner. I had always wanted to come to Bistro Jeanty and Im glad I did. I was interested in ordering the Butternut squash and pear soup. I asked for a taste but was told they dont do that. I didnt like that, but my daughter convinced me to just try it, "its only soup". So I did, WOW..... I would drive the one hour back just for soup. I make great soups, but this was on another level. The sweetness of the pears came through as the sweetener to the squash. My daughter had the Rib eye with the fries. That was one on the pieces of meat, simply seasoned and cooked perfect. I had the pork roast in a wonderful juice. But it was the side dishes that forced my hand to choose that item. It came with brussel sprouts with bacon and squash au gratin. Outstanding. The pork was fork tender and butter, and the sides were again my favorites. We had planned on skipping desert and stopping else where for coffee and dessert on the way back. Just out of curiosity I asked for a menu and Bengites. As a regular traveler to New Orleans we enjoy this dessert. I may not spell it correctly, but I know how they taste. I couldnt wait to see the difference from his and the ones I have had in LS. Just as i expected no disappointments. They were so tender and light to the touch that they dented so slightly when you squeezed them. Wow, soup and dessert alone is worth the drive for me.

We got lunch yesterday (and came also a few times over the last years). Food is good as usual and service is ok (but could be obviously better: we got served after another table that came 15min after us... the waiter acknowledged the issue but did not do anything later nor proposing some free stuff later). Losing two stars because of the following: pricey, main room is so noisy that it is plain ridiculous. Our host was also very painful to deal with and very "cocky" : we initially did a reservation for 2 and then wanted to add another guest and she said this was not possible.... Speechless. She also did not want to allow us to go to the terrace when there were plenty of free tables. I would be her boss, I would just ask her to do another job...

A spendy yet simple, but worthwhile, French Bistro - traditional favorites that are rich, fresh, delicious.... We enjoyed the french onion soup... so delicious. I got a Salade Lyonnaise - escarole with a soft boiled egg, and a warm apple smoked bacon vinagrette- a perfect balance of flavors vs vinegar in the dressing, perfectly poached egg. I also had steak tartare as an entree, not from the menu but the specials board... it was delicious, and so rich; perhaps even too much a portion! The dessert was an incredible bread pudding. Sauternes to boot... What lovely times. =)

Had a good solid experience of a french american bistro. Staff was attentive to the point to be even over the edge, which can be + or - depending on preferences. Food was very good. Cassoule a bit too thick, but still very tasty, and again it is a matter of preference, and everything else was very good. I would take half a star off, because I had better food some place else, but it is a matter of taste, and it would not be fair to take the whole star off just because some place far away is a bit better to my personal taste. Worth to visit at the very least.

Everything thats great about a bistro. We enjoyed a non-traditional Thanksgiving dinner at Jeanty recently, and it was just what we wanted: noisy, convivial, with excellent food and wine. My smoked trout and potato salad was one of the best appetizers Ive ever had - just a perfect combination of flavors and textures. Other winners at our table were the tomato soup en croute, the coq au vin, and the lemon meringue tartlet, but everything was on point and served by a very professional staff. A memorable holiday meal.

Food: - Sole meunière - 3 lightly fried filets on very rich, buttery creamed potatoes. A very light lemon, caper butter sauce. Very filling and not too oily tasting. - Beef bourguignon - lots of very tender short rib, soft sweet carrots and large, nicely roasted pearl onions - Berry bread pudding - very sweet, fruit was nice but was overwhelmed by the sweetness of the custard Complimentary bread was pretty good. Service: - Server seemed a little iffy at first, but he turned out to be pretty good.

After a day of wine tasting in Napa, Bistro Jeanty was perfect for us — looking for french food but not the French Laundry (no reservations or looking to spend that much right then). The menu at Bistro Jeanty was classic French food, almost stereotypical French food, and it was spectacular. The escargots were a little meh, but the French onion soup, coq au vin, and other dishes our party had were excellent. If youre looking for a nice, moderately priced French bite check here!

Dont come here if youre a vegetarian. For the rest of us meat eaters, this is the place to go. Everything is topped with some kind of meat. Even the salad is topped with slabs of smoked trout or pate or bacon or something. Theyre that creative! Their wine list is expansive and they carry a huge advantage over other Bay Area restaurants due to their proximity to so many local wineries. Try their house cab.

If youre looking for simply amazing French food, look no further. As a San Franciscan, I was said to see Jeanty at Jacks go, but I find solace in knowing great authentic French cuisine is merely an hour and change away. You MUST try the Salade Escarole and the Steak Frites. However, save some room for the Top 5 best desserts in the world...their famous bread pudding. My mouth is watering as I write!
