Surprisingly one of my more preferred Gen KBBQ locations. I came with a few friends on a Friday afternoon, and luckily there was no wait. We were immediately seated and served the banchan, menus, etc. So this is what good Gen service is like when theres minimal to no wait! The West Covina branch is much cleaner and newer than the Alhambra location. The booths seemed to be bigger, and the restaurant itself seemed to be much less cramped. Prices are the same as all other locations as is the menu. Between the three of us, we ate enough food for maybe six people. Brisket, cow tongue, bulgogi, calamari, Hawaiian steak, beef belly, jap chae ... everything was really good. Quality of the meat was pretty top-notch. The cow tongue was sliced super fine (as compared to the Alhambra location), and the brisket and beef belly were really good. The workers kept coming by to see if we needed anything else - refill on water, more side dishes, etc. Really feel like driving out to West Covina for Gen is much more worth it than going to the location in Alhambra and having to wait for more than 30 minutes before being seated in a very busy restaurant with workers who always get your order wrong. tl;dr - Highly recommend this location of Gen if youre craving KBBQ. Food quality seemed to be better than most other Gen locations and the service was great, too!

Just entered Gen Korean Bbq in West Covina. Was asked ONE question the whole time I was there, "How many?" By the server who seemed like she had better things to do. She quickly walked me and my bf to a seat wayyyy in the back of the establishment, dropped off a menu, and then bounced. Left us sitting there without the slightest clue as what to do. We have never been to a Korean Bbq place ever so we did not know where to start. As we sat hoping someone would come by and AT THE VERY LEAST explain to us what we should be doing or just how the whole process worked we noticed servers just walking past our table like we didnt even exist. (Idk could be a racial thing since we are african american) So after about 10 minutes without so much as glance from the workers we decided to get up and leave. As were exiting I address the lady who brought us to our table and say " Really, no one to come help?" And she just stands there without saying anything. Would have loved to review the food...but I didnt get any. That "service" everyones ranting and raving about in the reviews was just laughable. Ill take my money somewhere else. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

I have been here two times already, and already its becoming my favorite kbbq place of all time (and I have tried many different kbbq places in LA, Ktown and OC areas!) For both times, the service has been incredible! Its always been super fast, everyone is very friendly and the food is great! Our server the second time around, George, he was great. He ensured that there was food always on our table, made sure we had grill changes after every round or so, and our drinks never made it past half empty. He was really friendly, and you can see how hard he was working making sure all of his tables in his area had everything we needed. We didnt even have to call him to order more, Id simply be looking at a menu and there hed be! Overall, this was the best kbbq experience I have ever had (and I go to kbbq a lot!) The service here is 10x faster than the Gens Tustin location (even though theirs is fast also, but this is just indescribably and curiously faster). The meat portions are just right and everything tasted delicious. Including the macaroon ice cream!!! One request: they NEED to add steamed egg to this menu!

So yummy and Im half Korean :). Its one of the better kbbq places and the staff is always friendly. In fact theyre almost a little too friendly lol. The last time I was there the staff kept asking us if we needed anything else which was nice but somewhat excessive. We probably were asked about 40 times no joke throughout our meal by different people. Even our waiter from the last time we were there recognized us and came to check on us lol. So maybe lay off a little on the customer service if youre reading this Gen. The longest Ive waited is 20 minutes and that was on a Saturday at around 7 so maybe people are coming at the wrong time if they have to wait an hour. Also lunch is the best time to come. You get everything you get for dinner but for $15. So cheap! Not that many people get the soups but the tofu one (last on the menu) is the best. Its a little spicy tho so beware white people lol.

I had the best first-time experience here! The food was amazing (all of the meats I tried). Our waiter, Allen, was the best part! The best thing I noticed about Allen was that he already knows his job, he knows the meats and when we needed refills or a new grill plate. The job seems second nature to him and his only focus (what hes best at) seems to be on the customers. There was 8 of us and we all loved his service. I wanted to bring him home with me because he was so great! He definitely deserves to be one of the managers. Besides Allen, you will definitely love this place. If you happen to have Allen there youll love it even more.

Our experience was really bad. There were 6 of us and the host who seated us gave us the rundown of what we can and cannot do. Most of all we were instructed we must give 18% tip regardless of the quality of service. We were also told we must finish within two hours or we will be charge 5% more for every item we order. By the way, the servings were so skimpy. Some meat that was brought to us was only meant for 1 person. Weve been to Galbi Grill which is a lot more pleasant and the people are more nicer. We just thought wed check this place out and it was a major disappointment. Needless to say, we will never ever be back there again.

Amazing restraunt but the worker George isnt very helpful.He is forgetful and messes up the order a lot.He is very slow and checks on us rarely.He took my drink which still had coke in it and put raspberry ice tea in it which was very disgusting.Great restraunt but George could use some help.But the other waiters were very helpful such as Lindsey and Grandell.They kept picking up Georges mistakes and messes.So thank you to Lindsey and Grandell for making the experience amazing.George should get demoted to Janitor again and Lindsey and Grandell should be promoted to managers.

Disgusting! Extremely unhappy with this restaurant. Starting from the very beginning. Over an hour wait when they said it would only be a few minutes. When we were finally taken to our table we ordered a pitcher of beer. Our glasses were warm. The food had no taste. No seasoning & you could tell the poor quality in meat. Servers were terrible. Our bill was a ridiculous amount. Not worth your money or time. So many better restaurants out there. I tried to give this place a chance but I will NEVER return again. Dont waste your time or money.
