I have been here twice on two different occasion. The owner is super nice and always friendly. This place is a mix of new and old. They have the new kogi type burritos and BBQ plates and even kimchi soup. Last time I ordered the spicy pork burrito and thought it was okay. The flavor of the meat was really good, but i wanted my bite to be a mix of everything and it was hard to do perhaps the way it was wrapped was a little sloppy? I also felt maybe there was took much rice. That being said, that was when they first opened so things might have changed. Also again, the flavor of the meat was really good, which is mostly want matters. I also remembering getting a cookie with my meal. I recently stopped by here again because I really wanted someone Korean soup and there really isnt anywhere else you can go except sura. I thought the price of the soup was okay, and I have had better kimchi soup for cheaper, but it was also at a Korean restaurant. I am still debating if I liked the pork or not, but if I have to debate it, I am going to have to go with down the middle. Other wise the soup base was not too bad. The rice that came with the soup was well cooked and moist. The food also came with a cookie and it was pretty darn good. I have yet to actually sit down and eat here. But they have a great thing going with outdoor seating and the lights. There is little parking, but I have yet to have a problem on the days I have been. Given that it is the only place around long beach that serves decent Korean food (I have high expectation because my parents cool great kbbq at home) Ill go back and try some of the other stuff, like bim bim bap and maybe the plates. If you are craving some kbbq locally, this place will do! But if you are willing to drive a little more, corner place in Cerritos has some good flavors and great soups, but no burritos.

Been here several times now and it definitely hits the spot!!! The establishment location is not in the most ideal place though (the only thing available parking is on the streets). So make sure to park along the side of the streets before coming up to Ximeno Street because sometimes there wont be parking in the neighborhood before Seoulmate. Some burritos that I rave about are the "old boy" and the "spicy pork". Personally the spicy pork is super delicious and I love the amount of spice that it has. Be sure to add the fried egg for only 50 cents more!!! SOOO delicious but eat it fast because the juices will ooze out at the end and it can drip everywhere (the tables have holes in them so itll drip on your legs and shoes if you arent paying attention lol). Summary: Order at the window, grab a seat in their patio should you choose to eat it there, and wait for your number to be called. Theres a cute patio area right behind Seoulmate. They have cute lighting fixtures hung above your head and a huge wall mural (if you look closely you can find Tupac, Batman and Robin, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Darth Vader, etc :P) Overall service has been super friendly here although you dont interact much with the staff unless ordering, picking up food, or requesting for a refill. They also give you a cookie with your meal with a little label sticker that has a poem on it rhyming about how theyre sorry about their parking situation. Well youre forgiven :P Also I really enjoy the music that they play here. Its nice to eat your food to haha. Will definitely be back again!

Finally got some friends together to try out this place on a recent Tuesday night. As a Korean Ive been feeling terribly remiss in not having visited either of the whopping TWO Korean restaurants in Long Beach, lol. I drive by this place a lot and Ive definitely been curious. Could it stand up to the test? Im happy to say that yes, it does, but there are some caveats. I got the kimchi stew, the spicy pork bulgogi, and the cookie sandy with mint choc chip ice cream and I thought they were all great (the kimchi stew in particular), but a friend got the galbi platter and the meat was just not up to par: very fatty and chewy--he was underwhelmed and I cant blame him. The rest of the group got various burritos which all got raves so it seems most of the time they get it right, but the meat quality is not uniformly consistent, apparently. It was a good visit overall, though, and our group of five had a jovial time in the pleasant pre-Spring weather. Next time I want to try the chicken.

This place is a great for when you need some Korean Q and dont want too much hassle. The bulgogi and spicey pork have never let me down. And others have already said how good the burritos are. The wait typically isnt too bad but I have noticed it can climb upwards of 20+ minutes, even when its not busy. I recommend calling it in to save yourself from sitting around. Recently, I tried their hamburger and was let down. The meat had none of the advertised flavor and tasted sad. I didnt even end up finishing it. That being said- the bun, sauce and fried onions were still pretty tasty. I dont know if Id get it again because the other stuff is just so much better. This place has a lot of potential and had only let me down once or so. If you dont mind the hole-in-the wall atmosphere you might find a new favorite place for somewhat quick KBQ.

Food Nearly everythings on point. Havent had a bad experience, and I always want to come back for more. Price Its a bit pricey, but for the area and location, and the fact that theres not much Korean options in LB, its worth it. Location Busy 7th st. Even busier when Wilson High students are out of class. Parking is sometimes limited. Service Service is actually okay. Difficult to make orders over the phone, and you realize that when you get there, the cooking facility is incredibly cramped, loud, and busy. No ones fault really, but just something to keep in mind when you think its bad service, when in fact, things are busy in a confined space. Overall If you want Korean food and you dont want to travel outside of LB, I highly recommend this place. I recommend spicy tofu burrito and bibimbop.

The kimchi is pungent and and the bulgolgi is savory, but dont expect a crisp kbbq experience--at Seoulmate, formalities are dropped and carnal desires take over. Their burritos are stuffed full and rice plates are doused in delicious sauces that blend all the foods together over the course of the meal. Some dishes are served with kimchi or salad on the side, but this usually isnt enough to cut through the main portions, which are hefty in both volume and flavor (read: fatty). The outdoor seating is very welcoming despite low occupancy capacity, but with takeout and bike delivery options, comfort food is never too far away. Overall, Seoulmate is a very good place to eat IF you are looking for a big meal for a relatively low price, and do not mind messy food.

Dont get the kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew). I ordered the spicy pork burrito, it was really good. Fusion idea is great when it works, and it really does. When the fusion place offers the traditional meal and its the most expensive menu item...it should be as well. My girlfriend ordered the kimchi jjigae and instantly cringed with her first taste. I laughed and tried it myself. It was awful. Nearly flavorless. The meat was like taco bell burrito steak. Barely managed through half and threw it away. It was nothing like the traditional dish. I am rating 4 stars because my meal was amazing, hers was not. Go with the fusion options, avoid the kimchi stew.
