Great 2 sided BEER MENU,,, thats what Im talking about, Restauranteurs !! You might think this would be a fun happy upbeat joyful place to eat lunch outside by the firepit in the Sun. Nope, sorry. The owner really really needs to fix that. Lots of unfriendly well-to-do s. The Hostess was cool. Maybe they need low music... Tomato soup in bowl came highly rec., but not as rich as my Home Ec.teach Moms. B+ The Twin Cities 1/3# burger seemed small and ordered "medium" to get just 1/3 pink. Its OK. Go to Sausalitos "hamburger." opposite the ferry before 4pm,,, to be truly Amazed. B- Oh, you MUST CHECK IN with the Hostess inside to East; No just squatting on an empty patio big picnic table with orange-- not Yella-- sunbrellas. Scruffy-gruffy Mgr didnt know which the salmon was. Oh my. Waiter, maybe poor and new, did not refill water glass once. Garlic fries didnt have enough garlic(go to sf giants ballpark). Almost $5 tip for $25 sum. B- We Middles are the ones that will have to help the working poor...

HopMonk is a nice place to have lunch and dinner. The atmosphere with the beer gardens is warm and welcoming making for a great indoor/outdoor dining experience. The food is very good. Ive been here a number of times for lunch and diner, each time leaving happily. Service is very good and the food is better then I would have initially thought for this type of restaurant (small chain). Quite good. The pulled pork sandwich looks smallish but is packed with flavor and surprisingly filling. The soups are really good. The kids food is never left over. The beers are great. Pricing is reasonable. Overall, a solid choice thats good for both adults and kids. We like it and are frequent visitors.

This has become a ritual for returning to Northern California. Every time one in our family group goes on a trip, upon their return we end up at the Hopmonk. The Dunkelweizen is a great beer to spend an evening with around the fire pit or table with friends and food under a beautiful blue sky surrounded by the sounds of music, water and the shade of trees and trumpet vine. Sunday, while there per ritual, we were told they were expanding and adding a Hopmonk in Novato where we are moving. That was a heavenly sign that we were moving to the right place.

Overall it was okay, but there are a few things that are better than okay at this place. The beer list is impressive. If you like beer, you are guaranteed to find one that you like here - and you might even discover some beers worth trying. The food was okay. I thought the burger lacked flavor, as did the calamari. The venue itself is really cool. They have a nice outdoor area with heat lamps and a fire pit. They also have live music. I would come back to check out some of the bands they have on the line up. I just might eat beforehand.

Love this place! I have been here a couple of times. The atmosphere is great and the staff is so accommodating. We called from the parking lot to see how long the wait would be and the hostess saved a booth for us. It was so welcoming after a long day of traveling. The wine and beer section is great. I would recommend the tacos. You get 4 total. 2 pork and 2 fish tacos. Its on the starters menu but was plenty for lunch. The mussels are also amazing. Finally, dont leave until you have tried the Mac and Cheese. Mouth watering!

Been here a few times when in Sonoma. The food is good and so is the beer and they have a decent wine selection. The few times that I had been there, it was great. The last time, however, we waited for around a half an hour before we decided to leave because no one had even taken our drink order. I will give this place the benefit if the doubt and just chalk it up to a one-off happenstance. They were not busy at all when this happened either. But I would give them a second chance.

Although I havent always received the most welcoming looks from some of the patrons, the bartenders have always made me feel welcome. Ill often go here for a light lunch and a pint. The beers they keep on tap are great and their garlic fries are quite delicious. The only thing Id really be able to complain about is the size of the side dishes. When I have coleslaw as a side, Id like a little more than what feels like a sample serving. Other than that, this place is great.

We started our trip off here when we got to Sonoma and it was the right thing to do. The food was amazing and the selection of beers really made my husband happy. We loved their brews as well as the other local craft beers available. Sit outside and enjoy their patio on a nice day, it is so worth it!

We always make a point to have at least a few meals at HopMonk when we visit. The food is delish and they have a great selection of beers on tap. What we love most about eating here is the option to eat outside at communal tables. The service has always been good and they are dog/kid friendly.

The Hopmonk Hefeweizen is honestly one of the best microbrewery Hefeweizen beers Ive ever had. Perfectly balanced with a nice banana like undertone. Food was excellent too and I loved the very laid back atmosphere of the patio, which felt more like someones cozy backyard.

Great burger prepared perfectly on a good bun. I was happy to have Pliny the Elder on draft. They had love music--Vignes Rooftop Revival was a fun gypsy swing jazz band. The beer garden is full of trees, flowers, sun shades and great beer. Good service.

Seeing or finding maggots on your plate and table was not what I was expecting. This place was so disgusting, I will never go to it again. The staff didnt even know where the maggots came from, Ultimately we left and got food some where else.

I wish the service at the Hopmonk in Novato was this good. Just be aware of football games on the television. So much yelling inside youll definitely want to eat outside. Unless youre drunk and like yelling at football. You stay inside.

Food was overpriced and the service staff was overwhelmed. I read about the beer selection but there wasnt a lot of interesting offerings-not much that isnt available at a local grocery store. The in house brews were nothing special either.

I love their garden and great food !!! And our server brought glass of water for my dog as soon as we get there. So sweet. Even the kids meal...looks very thoughtful and yummy! I would love to go back another time

Went there to see Nataly Dawn in concert. Cozy performance space. Dinner before hand was good bar food in the restaurant. Overall a fun trip from Marin for a nights entertainment. Im planning on going back.

Great food, beer, service and atmosphere. They often have a single musician during the days and is perfect volume since you can still hear the person youre talking too. New keg of Pliny the Elder every Monday!

Great atmosphere and music. Close to downtown Sonoma. They do take reservations on OpenTable, so check that out as they are surprisingly busy on the weekends...especially Sunday around lunch
