I love to be pleasantly surprised by a restaurant, and my visit to Royal China for lunch today is a perfect example. We were in the area on other business and the smells outside made a visit mandatory. I was immediately impressed with the decor and atmosphere. Not the gaudy interior you come to expect in a strip mall Chinese restaurant. There was a line to be seated but a hostess and manager were hustling and apologizing for the wait immediately. We were offered the option of bar seating and accepted. Service was immediate and exceptional. Topped only by the actual food. We had lunch specials, I had the Szechuan beef and my wife had the eggplant chicken. They come with a salad and choice of soup as well as choice of chow mein or several selections of rice. The soup and salad were served almost immediately and both the wonton soup and the hot and sour were some of the best we have tasted. Our entrees were also delicious. Two lunch specials and an amazing Thai Tea for just under $26. I could not be more pleased.

I have lived in Santa Rosa 13 years and this has always been my favorite Chinese (dine in or take out atleast once a month). Our first meal there was 13 years ago for my daughters 1st birthday. Service and food quality has always been top notch and was always on our list of places to eat for special occassions or just a regular family night out. Earlier this year (June/July) we ate at the restaurant (dined in) and I ordered singapore noodles. I became very sick from that meal within 2 hours and remained unable to hold down food or water for almost 4 days...I called immediately the same night to complain and was told it cant have been their food but they did offer to provide their health insurance if I needed to see a doctor. I did not receive an offer of a refund, not that it would have helped change my opinion on the food poisoning I contracted but might have helped retain me as a customer. As my title says, as a past loyal customer, I am dissappointed and wont go back - too bad.

We dine at this restaurant with friends and have always thought the food excellent. The other evening we were craving Chinese food and instead of ordering take out from our neighborhood place we decided to step it up and order from Royal China. We were disappointed. The food was mediocre at best. It was not as fabulous as when we dine in. We rave about this place and recommend it to anyone who asks for suggestions. Therefore it was very disappointing to bite into the food and get bland flavor instead of the burst of delicious food we have come to expect from Royal China. I hope it was just an off night.

Really good food. Its not super-cheap, but you get a lot of food for the price. My family swears by the Egg Foo Young, but the real gem is the Orange Peel Chicken. Its leagues beyond fast food Orange Chicken, and its better than the orange chicken at all the other Chinese restaurants Ive been to. Highly recommended, and the atmosphere inside is very nice, not at all what youd expect from the outside. EDIT: Since their remodel in 2016, its even nicer!

Easy off and on ramp from route 84 in CT traveling west. Have been seeing this place for the past few years traveling between Boston and NY and finally decided to stop and get take out on our way home. So glad we did. Friendly and gracious service that provided hot strong tea while we waited for our food.

General chicken, Orange chicken, Walnut prawns with pineapple, won ton soup, and best tasting chow mein noodle. These are the things I base all other Chinese restaurants by since Royal China has set the bar so high. Also love the fact they have the best service Ive had in my restaurant adventures, EVER.

Whats going on with the reopening? They closed in October and scheduled for Mid-November reopen.... Every time you call you get the same voicemail "We are Temporarily closed till Mid November... check the website". Seems a little ridiculous at this point.

Terrible service! Ordered food to-go and she told us it would be ready for pick up in 20 minutes. Drove out of our way to go here and when we got there and they wouldnt even tallk to us or open the door for another 20 minutes. Will not be returning!

The remodeled atmosphere is so relaxing and impressive that the meal is enhanced by such a beautiful environment. Their food has always been five stars, and it is our favorite Chinese restaurant in Sonoma County.

Pro - Good food and lots of it. They actually gave more than I expected. Con - No WiFi and seems kind of dark inside. Overall - If you are hungry and want big meal, you choose the right place.
