Pizza is sometimes REALLY good, but the pickup experience has been terrible the last 2 times we ordered. You have to go wait across the street and the waitstaff in the ESE dont care about your order because its takeout and they have tables to mind. Last time they told us 20 mins, I showed up at 18 mins, and they were just starting the order. I get that being busy is a good problem to have, but waiting 40 mins for a pizza, 20 of them in store, is not for me. We have like 5 other pizza options within a 2 miles, none of them have this problem, and all are cheaper or deliver. Taking a break from these guys for a bit.

I was in Santa Cruz for business and ate at the East Side Eatery location twice. I ate both their take out pizza one night and then lunch on the patio the next. The pizza was good. The crust wasnt anything special but the ingredients were very fresh and solid. The Pleasure Combo was my favorite of the two we ordered (BBQ Chicken was the other). For lunch the next day I really enjoyed the patio area. The server was fantastic and I had the Cuban sandwich. It was a good version of the cuban, but could have used more pickles so just order them on the side.

Vegans, vegetarians and conscientious plant-based eaters: Get the Gluten free vegan pizza crust and add jalapeño, cilantro, red onion, and (bring your own) faux beef ground round. Trader Joes ground round vegan beef crumbles work great! Call ahead to confirm they have the vegan Daiya cheez product though. They do run out periodically. Oh, Bottomless mimosas on Friday bring big crowds. Be prepared to for ½ hour wait to be seated in summer

While it doesnt have the funky history of the pizza shack across the street, the Eatery is quite nice. They handled us as a large group twice in a long weekend with too many problems. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Beers on tap were solid and the menu was good. My family appreciated the gluten free options. Used to live right down the street. Miss PP, but will be back to the Eatery the next time were in town.

What top of the line pizza place "PLEASURE PIZZA" Hey @schmeckle...dont you think the guy is sick & tired of the flatlanders coming down the hill from Tahoe stopping & asking to use his bathroom w/o buying anything? Give the guy a break. They have awesome pizza & is a fun place to go have a beer & watch whatever game is on the tv.

Came here all the time for years and despite the service being uneven, the food was always great. Now its like the place is run by people who seem overwhelmed and understaffed. Took forever to order, then an hour to get the food, and even longer to pay. Come here if you dont mind killing the whole night in one place.

This pizzeria is hip-and-happening. It offers some delicious pizza and the inside has all kinds of surfing posters. After I visited we took our pizza to nearby Pleasure Point that overlooks the ocean and is a prime spot to watch the local surfers. This pizzeria is also featured in the movie Chasing Mavericks.

The food getting out to us was slow. The pesto pizza with sausage was just okay. They put red sauce in with it, which doesnt go well together. The clam chowder was too rich/creamy for my taste. The cod rice bowl was delicious though.

Food was pretty good but service (or lack of) knocks two stars off. Granted we were sitting outside but it must have been 10-15 min for water and another 10-15 to place an order. Pro tip - get ranch with your basket of fries.

East Side Eatery is in a great spot for grabbing lunch and watching people walk to the beach. ESE has great pizzas, burgers, and salads and great beer on draft. Prices can be a bit high for some items, but the food is good.

Pizza can be good, but my last visit 1hr 45 minutes is too long to wait for any pizza. Never less than an hour in my experience for fresh pizza. Stick with their sliced pizza, its quicker and just as good.

Ordered a taco salad. Did not come with any protein, only lettuce and cheese, I chose no bell peppers. If you want protein, ie chicken, beef, shrimp etc it is 3.00 extra. Not worth it.
