We have been going to Tobang for years, liked it & recommend it to many of our friends including introduce it to our foodie group! I regret for gave such great rating to Tobang in the past! We received a such horrible service attitude from the owner lady earlier tonight! We were party of 9, made reservation with confirmation in reserved their private room in the back 4 days ago. I personally arrived at around 5:05pm (nearly a hour before our reservation time), I walked in and confirm our reservation & private room space, and it was confirmed. My friends & I check in about 10 minutes before our reservation @ 5:50pm. We found out that our reserved table & private room was already given away. We addressed our concern to the owner lady, the owner lady was arrogant and comment that we could cancel our reservation since she has line of guests waiting at door over 30 minutes already! Afterwards when we expressed that we would like to get the next table available, even if its not in the room, the owner lady said she will not give us any table in her restaurant because we have complained that she did not honor our reservation. Regardless how good their food is, such service attitude should not be tolerated!! I share this is to everyone to address my greatest disappointment for being her long time guest after 5-years!!

BEST PLACE TO GET KBBQ in the southbay! I dont think any other place can compare because its priced right, you get huge portions, service is great, and the food is delicious! The wait for this place is usually pretty long, and in previous visits I was always too lazy to wait in the long line. I came here on a Friday night with my boyfriend and we waited about 40 minutes. You have to push and shove your way to the counter the moment you walk into the restaurant just so you can get your name down on the waitlist since there is usually a crowd of people just standing around and waiting. Once we were in our seats, we were quickly helped by one of the servers and ordered. Their service was great throughout the night, we really didnt have to ask for much. All the servers in the restaurant kind of rotate to help you so you dont have to flag your own server down just to get something. You also get get a free seafood pancake if you check in on yelp, so dont forget! :D My boyfriend and I ordered the small family which is 1.5 serving of two different kinds of meat (your choice), white rice or kimchee fried rice, egg soup, bean stew or kimchee soup, salad, and all the banchan youll ever want (: The Small Family ($33): Its really the perfect size if youre in a group of two. A LOT OF FOOD! we had more than enough leftovers for lunch the next day. You get to choose two types of meat, for one meat you get 1 full serving and the other you get half serving thats why you get 1.5 total serving of meat and you HAVE to specify which meat you want as the full serving or half serving because some meats will immediately get served as the 1 serving size if you dont specify. We got the bulgogi (1 serving) and the beef slices (0.5 serving). I wish we had known earlier about the specification because we would rather have the beef slices as the 1 full serving. But they were both really good! The bulgogi came already cooked on a sizzling plate and the beef slices were cooked right on the spot. I thought the bulgogi was a little sweet but it had a lot of flavor. Your table is set up so that you have a portable stove next to you. The servers will stop by every now and then to help you cook your meat (: The 4 sauces they give you went really well with the beef slices! They also give you a mighty large portion of meat. Plus they give you large lettuce leaves and rice paper to eat with your beef, yum! We got the kimchee fried rice too which was cooked right on your stove and that was delicious (: The other side dishes like the egg soup and the bean stew soup were also great as well. Their banchan selection was awesome! I loved every single dish that came. Overall it was sooooo much good food! and at the end you get an awesome cold yogurt drink! :D Definitely coming back because its too good not to!

At some point early last year, I went on a Korean food binge and tried a few of the Korean BBQ restaurants in the vicinity of Lawrence Expy and El Camino. Some point later, a few Korean friends brought us to To Bang for a celebration dinner. Oh my, the food blew the rest of the others. The side dish is really good -- in particular, I love the fish cakes and Kimchee. The meat is really fresh and cooked in front of you in a portable stove. And, lately, Ive grown to like their steamed egg custard. I usually just skipped the first few pages of menus and went for the N-person combo meals (where N starts from 1.5 and up to 7 I think). Theres also the drinking options, if you love soju, beer, or makgeolli. ;) The ambiance is decent. I mean, its more like a Korean family restaurant than an upscale restaurant. The people are friendly and service is generally excellent. The only time I had a bad time was during new years eve (or was it Christmas): there were like 2 waitresses working and 7-8 tables -- they were having a bad time keeping up with the stoves. Lesson learnt, I wont go there during major holiday where most of their staff is probably on vacation (but ymmv)... Oh, and theyll offer to cook you a fried rice dish with the leftovers side dish and meat and spicy bean sauce.

Rain sprinkled through the night sky and the frigid air settled in its place for the night. I was hungry and I needed to feed the beast inside. Thats where Tobang came into play. I knew that this place was a carnivores paradise from the moment I stepped foot inside. The fragrant aroma of grilling meat sifted straight into my nostrils. I felt like I was in an old school cartoon where the scent of the food grabbed me by my nose and was floating me off into my seat. Although Tobangs menu is not massive it still includes all the familiar items including Bi Bim Bab, BBQ, etc. I started off with the free check in deal which was the Seafood Pancake. Nice thin and crisp crust. I thought it was surprisingly good. Maybe it was the fact that it was free?!? Regardless I still thought it was tasty! I also ordered the BBQ Beef Ribs Kalbi. Sadly it did not come out of the kitchen sizzling hot, but it still proved to be very good. They also included pickled daikon to wrap the meat in. Overall Tobang has almost everything you look for in a Korean BBQ restaurant. Great service, decent prices and clean grills. You know I will be back!

Just awful. Disregard the high ratings, this place is overrated. They rush to get you out of the restaurant the minute you sit down. When the meat arrived they dumped it all onto the grill at once. They cook the meat for you but they arent attentive (it will get burnt) and only do this so that they can get you out of the restaurant ASAP since you are then unable to cook less at a time and actually enjoy your meal. Once the kimchee fried rice was put on the grill they shoved the bill in my face and a to go box. "Take your time, no rush" he said. LOL yeah right...so you havent been rushing us the whole time trying to turn over this table since the second we sat down? Sure enough a few minutes later some lady ajumma who I can only guess was the manager came to our table and pushed the to go box in the table towards me and said "this is the to go box". *Cue Nicolas Cage face * You dont say.... Needless to say, I wont be back. Waste of money but not time, since you wont be able spend much of it here. Note: the free seafood pancake and choco pie for Yelp check-in is already included in each combo meal, no need for check-in.
