Flickinger Avenue Restaurant Location: I was happy that an Indian restaurant was opening in my residential area. I wanted to be a regular customer. I love Indian food, and this is a very close location. I walked in about three weeks after they opened. I ordered a take-out of tandoori chicken. What I got was chicken in a stew-type sauce. When I phoned them to complain, I was nice and wanted information about their type/style of tandoori chicken. The man on the phone said I was not given tandoori chicken. While I was conversing with him, he told me that if I did not like coming to his restaurant (which I never had said by that point... I just wanted to know more about how their location prepares and serves tandoori chicken and explain to him what I got)... he told me that if I did not like coming to his restaurant, THEN DO NOT COME BACK. I then became emotionally upset at his disrespect. After all, I was not even yelling at him. I was just trying to reason with him regarding their serving of tandoori chicken, and I was trying to get educated as to whether there was a difference between North India and South India regarding tandoori chicken. Good grief. He couldnt even handle a sincere customer inquiring about that in a nice way. His treatment of me over the phone says it all for me. Fine. Keep your food, and I will keep my money or spend my tandoori money elsewhere!

My husband and I just returned from having lunch at the New India Chaat Café located at 1645 Flickinger Avenue in San Jose which is on the corner of Hostetter and Flickinger. This was our first real experience eating Indian food although we did taste a couple samples of their food when they participated in the Taste of Berryessa and really liked the samples they provided. Not knowing anything about Indian food we decided to try their lunch buffet so we were able to try a variety of dishes. To our delight we loved everything we tried. I can’t tell you all the names of what we had but there was a large variety and we will definitely return. The restaurant was very clean and cozy and well organized. The service was fantastic and everyone was very polite and helpful from the time we were greeted at the door until the time we left the restaurant. They had music videos playing on their flat screen TVs which added to the ambiance. We don’t go out to eat that often but we will go back to New India Chaat Café! It was delicious. Frank and Charlene

Unnasuming strip mall exterior? Yes. Regular Indian buffet style setup? Yes. Mind-blowingly awesome curries that are unparalleled in taste? HELL YEAH. Alright, heres the deal. Call ahead to confirm that they are serving Paneer Butter Masala in the buffet before you go. The buffet is not even worth it otherwise. This curry is yummy, subtly textured and addictive. In short, it is awesome. The other curries are really unique and well-spiced as well. Ive noticed that in some places, they use the same gravy in all the veggie dishes and just plop in different vegetables. Not at NIC. They have a different style for each curry, and they all taste good. The naan is pretty normal, but the curries are the real superstars here. Oh! You can also opt for a-la-carte and order off the menu. I would recommend against the Samosa Channa, but the Dahi Batata Sev Puri was really tasty. For pricing, the buffet is $9, and a-la-carte curries are between $6-8. The chaat orders range from $3.50-5. Highly recommended!

The buffet option is your best bet to have a good time. Food is average, but I enjoyed everything. I dont know any of the names of the dishes so I cant describe what anything taste like. The only dish i know were tandoori chicken and buttery chicken curry, which both were good. Both taste like what you get anywhere, but had consistency in distribution of flavor. The buffet option has a rule where you have to have three different dishes with the same portions, so you cant just pick one dish to eat. On the bright side each dish comes with naan. Over all this place is a nice lunch spot to hang out with friends.

The food wasnt great, but ok, service was "meh". We were a table of 5 and after ordering naan twice, they took about 10+ minutes to bring the 3rd order. & then stpped asking. We were sitting for a good 15+ minutes with no refil on our room temp water. The service got less friendly with each additional order. If youre going to be a buffet, expect people who like to eat ! Um duh! Also the children pay as much as the adults? Since when?? I hate not leaving a tip, but in this case it was very justified.

Food Quality: Very good, Paneer Butter Masala is most loved with rich gravy. Fairly authentic Indian food. Buffet has lot of options for vegiterians and non-vegiterians .. Ambience: very unassuming and sub-duded. But main item food is good Price: fair $12 for full fledged buffet for quality of food they serve We regularly go to this place Note:- We only eat vegiterian food. So treat this accordingly. However, non-vegetirian eaters have praised food as well.

Likes: Has EPIC carryout Carryout costs much less than dine in BEST NAANS EVER, even in dine in Not too crowded Mango Lassi is soooooooo addicting Dislikes: Plates are unclean You see chicken dishes at the front of the buffet, and if you are vegetarian, that bothers you Dine in costs too much More desserts should be there in the buffet

Food is pretty good here. All you can eat buffet. Great place to go when youre hungry. Instant gratification. Its never crowded and always easy to get a seat. Im not sure how they stay in business. Nothing fancy with the atmosphere. Small TVs are usually playing some kind of dance with music from India. Kind of cheesy.

This place is awsome, there use to be an asian reastraunt in this place and now there is this great indian restaraunt. It is not very flashy, but their price is $8.99 for the lunch buffet. The nans were delecious, I also loved their chicken curry. Over all great place to load up your plate and eat.

Naan is the show stealer!!!! Best naan among all the Indian places I have been to in the last 2 years in more than 5 states. Food is authentic Indian just the spices are a bit dialed down to cater for everyone. But that said it still is the most tasty ever

We ordered to-go. The naan was soggy and floppy, the chicken was dry, and the mango lassi tasted strange. The costumer service was not good. We did pick up the food right as it was closing, so maybe the food is better when it is more fresh.

The place is not fancy, but the food is fine, I mostly order Malai Kofta here. If you want to eat in peace, this is the place to go. I have visited here few times and have mostly seen only one or two tables occupied.
