I havent been here in about 9 months and I just confirmed I wont be back for another 9 months if ever. Here lies the problem of ordering take out from this place. About 9 months ago I order some take out, very simple an order of the fish and a veggie dish, when they tell you 1 hour, its actually 1 1/2 hours. As for today, I order food around 5:10 and got there about 5:45, they told me 30 minutes. I left after 6:30 with my order. There were a few more people who waited unhappily for their take out. I was offered a free dish for the wait. I thought about for all of half a second, I didnt want to be stuck there waiting for another 30 minutes for a free dish. Hell No. I opt to take my food and leave. The naan I brought home wasnt fully cook and had a doughy taste. as was the aloo gobi (the cauliflower is completely crisp as if only just dumped into the curry and pulled out). I will never order the assorted appetizers ever again, that was horrible. The vegetable pakoras were a bit on the burnt side and wasnt even close to being authentic in any way . Im seriously disappointed today with the food tonight. The tandoori murgh was very spicy (which I like but my daughter couldnt eat) was the only dish that was decent. Ive never had problems with the food when I eat there, but take out is a nightmare.

The food was pretty awful, definitely not as good as everyone said. The chicken in the tikka masala in my girlfriend dish was not cooked all the way, although the sauce was nice. My tandoori duck was okay, but really not worth the price. It was so over-cooked and over-seasoned, that it could have been just about any kind of meat in there. We both ordered salted Lassi which was also very bland, thin and didnt taste like it was salted (just like drinking watered down yogurt). The bread was good and the ambiance is really nice. My girlfriend is Indian and has cooked a lot for me and taken me to some really authentic Indian restaurants near New York, NY. This one just didnt cut it for us. Although I know it probably was not the cooks fault, there was a hair in my mango lassi. In addition, the service was not quite up to par.

I was in the neighborhood yesterday and we were looking for something to eat for lunch. At West Portal you have many options. The new lemonade had a line out the door, so we decided to try something new. I think this is probably one of the best choices for lunch. They have great options and the service is friendly. I was surprised to see the quality and portion size being a great deal. I would recommend this place if you want hang out in a nice spot. Great for families and couples a like.

This is one of the worst Indian Restaurant. The food was terrible... infact it wasnt indian at all.. I had garlic naan there... the cook doesnt even know that there should be garlic on the naan.. instead there was lots of Basil on the naan... Do we even use basil in Indian food?? There might be other Roti which "MAY" be good.. but please please please dont go to this location.... in SFO... Portal Ave. And also it is ridiculously costly...

Mediocre in my opinion. I dont think Clay Oven just down the street is any worse. We ordered the Chicken Makni and the Aloo Gobi. The Makni was okay; typical in your Indian restaurants. No differentiator. Potatoes in the Aloo Gobi were undercooked to my liking. Felt like it was a tomato based sauce - maybe a little too tomatoey; feel like Ive had better at some buffets. The garlic naan was extremely buttery and was not crispy.

This place has some interesting flavors. We opted for a family style dinner for 2 of us which was $34 per person. There was tons of different food to try, apps, main dishes, desserts. Definitely worth a try. They even have single person dinner family style on the menu. The service was great the wait staff came over multiple times to ask how everything was and if it wasnt too spicy. Personally I appreciated that.

This place has some really great dishes. I especially liked the machchi korma and the prawn vindaloo. I do wish they made things a little spicier, but the food was still very good. They have pretty good service, and the decor and atmosphere were nice. Its a little more pricey than other Indian restaurants, but the portions are also big so that makes up for it. All in all, its worth visiting.

Place is nice, the owner is so hospitable and even provided us with a lot of freebies like Roti, ice cream, which was sooo good and tea, the name if which I forgot. All the dishes we ordered were very delicious and he took time to explain how they were prepared. The lady waiting on us was very gracious and amiable. Plan to go back there soon.

Went there for the first time last Friday. Heres why we would not go back: 1. The service is poor! 2. We waited a long time before we got our food. We almost walked out. 3. The food was not super delicious, considered we waited so long. We will not be going back. I LOVE Indian food. Travel to India often, so this was a major disappointment.

This is my go to restaurant when I need good food, excellent service and a welcoming atmosphere. The wait staff are warm, courteous, and very accommodating. I have a pretty severe gluten allergy and have never gotten sick here. The clientele is really diverse, and everyone is friendly. Great place for families, big parties and such.

This place is WAY over priced for what I ordered. I got the chicken tikka masala, rice, and garlic naan and it was about $40.. wow. The curry was good but the chicken was over cooked and hard. The rice was nasty, way to heavily seasoned. Would of been all negative scores but the garlic naan was GOOD! Wouldnt go here again.

Roti has a great mix of good food, great decor and excellent service. This relatively new restaurant is a great addition to West Portal Ave and will soon become a staple in my restaurants. The chicken tikka masala is very good (although the sauce is not as thick as I usually like), and the tandoori is very good.

Service was fine and the appetizers were good; however the chicken korma was bad: the chicken was unbelievably dry (like it was previously overcooked on a skewer (I could see the skewer holes) and then put into the korma to cook even more), and the korma was flavorless. The plain rice was also very dry.

I love the place. Its a little pricey but I when there twice and had a great time both times. The gosht madras was my favorite, but the gosht vindaloo was pretty good too. And their rotis bread basket is definitively the way to go if you like naans.

Excellent Indian food. The food is flavorful with good spice. I love it as take out or dining in. The owner is so sweet and always comes around to make sure everything is okay. They also have a great ginger tea that yummy after a great meal.
