Formerly of the Tenderloin Lahore Kahari, Guddu brings his spice-laden, tandoor smoke lashed kebabs to the Sunset and I couldnt be happier. Along with Thai Nghiep Ky Mi Gia, Guddu gives me another means of getting delicious food without having to trek to the Loin. Parking is reasonable on this end of Noriega, but you might have to wait for a table at peak times and weekends. Guddu keeps things casual with free chai and a BYOB policy. The food out of the tandoor is otherworldly. The tandoori fish and seekh kebab are my staples. In each case the fish or meat are wonderfully spiced and cooked to smoky perfection and arrive to you on a sizzling platter. For more oily, gravier dishes, the Mughlai curries are spot-on. The aloo bengan is expertly prepared and the average person will do well with their chicken tikka masala. Accompany your food with soft, bubbly naan or aromatic rice, and if you feel like a rice dish the lamb biryani will set you straight. The restaurant could be a bit cleaner, and you will emerge into the foggy Sunset smelling of meat and smoke. But maybe thats not a bad thing.

Delicious food, but it took FOREVER to get our food. There were only 5 tables in the restaurant but it took 30 minutes to get our first dish with naan and another 20 minutes to get our second two dishes. Worse, we werent told that they were out of fish for the fish tikka masala we ordered until 45 minutes into our visit. Once you receive your food, though, its pretty darned tasty. The naan was hot and blistered and brushed with a sheen of ghee, as expected. The potato naan is especially delicious, which is traditional naan stuffed with potatoes, peppers, and onions. We also tried the saag paneer and aloo gobi, which were tasty; nothing earth-shattering, but good. Finally, we had a lamb kebab cooked in the tandoor over. This was a steal at $4.95 for two decent-sized kebabs. I saw a lot of customers coming in for takeout, so I think thats the way to go next time, rather than waiting forever to dine-in.

I ordered butter chicken, its my favorite Indian dish. I got mild, but it was incredibly hot. Ive never ever had such spicy and hot butter chicken in my life. I get butter chicken because its not spicy, its not supposed to be spicy. It was inedible for me. My boyfriend got the be hottest level of spicyness and it was only sightly more hot than my "mild" dish. I told the waitress that the dish was too hot and she just shrugged. I asked if they cold make it less spicy, add coconut milk or something to make it edible and she just said no and left. I was shocked at how rude she was. The other man who worked there overheard and gave me some yogurt and said next time to order the "kids" curry, since its not too spicy. I appreciate the yogurt but the whole experience was unenjoyable for me. I wouldnt return. Too bad, because I love Indian curry usually and the restaurant itself is very cute.

Hands down one of the better meals Ive had in a long time. Yes, there is generally a long wait, and yes you may not get exactly what you order if the place is swamped (which it is despite the wait) but this food is on a cosmic level. Im talking about Michael Bay food taste explosions going off all over the restaurant. Its food porn at its most sensual, a true game changer. Hell the last few times we got a wrong order but either way everything on the menu is fantastic, and I mean everything. I dont normally take the time to write a review on a restaurant but PLEASE for the love of all that is good in this world, put in the time to put this food in your mouth. Simply put: BYOB+stupid good food+amazing humble staff+good company=FoodBliss PS: If your impatient, and you tend to type in fragment sentences you may not enjoy this place

im writing a review after visiting the place three times. Food: Ok Wait Time: Terrible the first time i went there, i ordered just 1 entree and 2 breads. It took 40 minutes for them. This restaurant was new so, i thought they might have improved a bit so gave it another try. The second time also wait time was 40mins+. Third time, i knew they r always late so i called them to place and order and told them i will reach in 20mins, they said its not too busy today and asked us to order at the restaurant. At the restaurant we ordered 2 entree and 2 breads. wait time was 1hr 15mins. Food is not worth the wait.!!

Im happy this place is getting established as the go-to Indian restaurant in Sunset. This is the best Northern Indian cuisine Ive had in San Francisco and folks from every neighborhood are finally discovering it. Dont get stuck ordering the same dishes time after time though. They have a bunch of interesting house specialties, so try everything on the menu. I dig the Achar... If its slow they might even make you cheese naan if you ask nicely. If pops is working be careful to order your food medium spicy though... theyre not messing around.

I like to call it a delicious disheveled experience... The owner/chef is cooking up his mothers recipes and it is the best Indian food Ive found in SF. I know strong words! They are desperately in need of a wait staff. But the poor overwhelmed guy who will serve you always has a smile. Dont come in a hurry.. Give them a big tip, look how hard they are working!! The food is sooo worth the wait!

We "about 9 friends" drove a long distance for trying his famous Karahi! but after he specifically confirmed that he does not carry Halal chicken any more because his cliental does not demand it so he uses NON HALAL Chicken. The reason for me giving 4 stars is because my friends who had the Karahi not knowing that it is Not Halal said great things about the taste.

Above average food & friendly service. I ordered the Lamb Biryani & it was okay. I wish it had more flavor (was too sweet for me). It came with Yellow Rice (Chawal). They even gave me their home made spicy sauce which was average. Staff is very friendly & they accommodate you well. I will definitely give this place another try next time Im in the Sunset.

I love the mint chutney they give you. I put it on everything! It has a great kick of spice. Chai is made fresh for your order! Ive ordered take out, eaten in, and ordered from caviar is the food is always delicious. They are probably spicier on average than most places. Wait staff is friendly.

Clean, inexpensive. Food was great. Naan and samosa were excellent. We really liked Navratan Korma and Channa as well. Medium spicy was plenty spicy (we eat spicy food in general). Service was friendly and attentive. Keep up the good work. Now it seems like they have alcohol too in house.

The food here is delicious! My favorites are the lamb biryani and garlic naan. The staff might be small but service was excellent. I never had to wait for the little things like refilling my glass of water and dishes came quickly.

Have been there numerous times over the last year. Food is always great. Service is friendly and prompt. Cant recommend anything in particular because everything has been wonderful throughout the menu. Highest possible rating.
