I dont review things often, but this place deserves it. TL;DR Version: Fantastic, flavorful food prepared well. Clean and bright restaurant. Friendly staff/owners. Finally! A really good Indian food restaurant in Portland, although on the far east side. I decided to takeout a large-ish order for the family: Chicken Tikka Masala, Alu Matar, Palak Paneer, 2x Rice, and 2x Naan. There was a misunderstanding in the kitchen and the Alu Matar was missing but they made up for it with a side of Chana Masala and a couple of bread items stuffed with spicey Alu Matar filling. Every single thing was delicious! Chicken Tikka Masala - I made the mistake of requesting mild as I think medium would have been a better choice for flavor. Having stated that: the sauce is rich and creamy, and I could taste the tandoori spices on the chicken even with the richness of the sauce. Alu Matar - A perfect blend of sauce and vegetables, giving it just the right thickness. The flavors came through in each bite. Palak Paneer - Thinner than I am used to but still thick enough to stick to the fork. The cheese was large enough to require a knife to cut down to bite-sized pieces. Rice - It sounds silly to review rice, but half the places I have been to cant seem cook rice right. Maharaja nailed it with lightly fluffy rice and just the right hint of saffron. Naan - The naan was actually a disappointment. I am not sure if it was the way it was cooked or the traveling in aluminum foil to my home, but it was gummy and little tough. Chana Masala - I am not that fond off chickpeas, but this came out much better than I expected. It is a dish I would definitely consider getting again. I didnt try the stuffed bread but I was told it is very similar to the Alu Matar, just much spicier. I am really looking forward to my next visit!

I saw that this restaurant had opened and was meaning to get around to going. On a complete whim we walked in last sunday, with the intention of just looking at the menu. Boy am I glad we stayed to eat! MIND BLOWN. This place has incredible food! We were in during dinner hours. The staff was attentive and friendly, and the food was to die for. As Im typing this im waiting for 11:30 to roll around so my family and I can go try out the buffet, and Im dying of excitement. Lol. I only hope they have the butter chicken in the buffet and Im hoping to try saag paneer today as well! My only complaint, and its a small one, is the pricing. Entrees are relatively spendy for a restaurant in Gresham. Ive eaten at high end places in portland proper that were less expensive but if an equal caliber. I was suprised that rice was not included with the entrees that rice is typically included with, at least it oftentimes is included at other indian restaurants. But to be honest, this isnt the biggest deal. The food is well worth the money and Im so happy to have great indian food in gresham, FINALLY. Ive eaten at some of the best restsurants in portland and this is easily on par with them. Everything I tried last week was super fresh and impeccably spiced. Im not one to even write reviews but here I am, rambling on about the greatness of this place because I loved it THAT MUCH. Time to go now though, they just opened! Yay! Thanks to the owner and staff for being great!

While the food was excellent, the service was very disappointing. We went last night for the first time and ordered off the Dinner menu. I ordered the Tandoori Chicken (bone in) and my girlfriend had the Chicken Tikka Masala. The food felt fresh, authentic, and never felt overseasoned. The dinner menu, however, felt overpriced. I would have been somewhat ok i we didnt have to order the Basmati rice and Naan separately. For the establishment and ambiance of the restaurant, you would expect dishes to be no more than $13 and to include at the VERY least Basmati rice. Had we not ordered these items, which I consider essential to an Indian cuisine, we wouldve been served a plate of Tandoori chicken with onions and a small bowl of Tikka Masala. Its like ordering a steak and getting...well...just a steak w/o sides at all. The service was very lacking as well. Our server was not very enthusiastic about her job and extremely slow to get anything done. I had completely run out of water, flagged her down and she served 2 other tables before making eye contact with me and realizing I had requested water. By then we were done eating and I was waiting ready for the check. Overall the quality of the food was good, but from reading other reviews it seems that their lunch buffet is where they shine. I would love to go for their lunch buffet but unfortunately its only available Mon-Fri 11am-2pm and Im always at work until 5pm.

We have been to this restaurant 3 times now, with no complaints other than sometimes it takes a bit to get the check. Thats ok though, because there is plenty to look at as far as decor, and the staff are friendly and nice to talk to. You can ask about menu items and never wonder what the heck youre about to eat. The dishes come in beautiful bowls and it is just pleasing to see when they set the dishes down. You have to try the Garlic Naan bread in addition to the regular naan! The first time we came they had only been open about 3 days. We chose to do the buffet as it just looked irresistible! I think I tried every single item and only one was not so great and that is only because the spice level was high which, by the way, I was warned about! The waiter stood with us after we told him it was our first time there and explained what was in the food items. (Sometimes it is hard to tell with Indian food) The rice pudding was absolutely amazing. I went three times before posting a review because I like to make sure the customer service is consistent, which it is here. We have made this a regular place to eat and will continue to spread the word that there is a great new Indian restaurant in town.

I went to the lunch buffet recently and enjoyed it. My favorites were the vegetable samosas and tandoori chicken. The goat curry looked and smelled appetizing, but was chewy to the point of being inedible. All-you-can-eat nan is awesome, and I saw five different kinds of curry to choose from, saffron rice, mixed vegetables (okra!), and rice pudding for dessert. For $10, I was satisfied, and my twin toddlers ate for free. On that note, however, this place is not for kids. I was given a glass pint of water for my girls when something with a lid would have been much more appropriate, and booster seats and highchairs did not seem to be an option. Despite this, the staff absolutely doted on us. Our host offered to take one of the girls by the hand to seat us, and there were hugs all around before we left. My only other comment is in regards to the ambiance. The place was very quiet for lunch with the exception of some Bollywood movie showing very quietly on the dining room TV. I would have either preferred some music in addition, or just being able to hear the movie (which was subtitled, a plus in my book).
