Ive purchased food from their food truck and when I drove by the restaurant one morning, I knew I would need to come back here for lunch that day. Their menu is interesting, they have a limited choice of items, which is not a bad thing. It may contribute that you actually get a large portion of food for a low price. They have two ways you can go, either order a roti wrap or a combo plate. Ive purchased the roti wrap from their truck and the combo meal seems really interesting because you can select two main courses from a list of about 9 items (I didnt really count, but there was a reasonable selection). On your combo plate you get lentils, roti, rice, salad, sauces, its a big plate of food. I dont like lentils so the server subbed out with another roti (she gave me a choice). How all this works is you start at one end (like those 2 item Chinese places) and pick your dishes. She starts stacking the plate and checking if you want all the sauces and salad. Then you pay at the end, you can order Chai tea when you pay. I got the chicken tikka masala and the Gobi Aloo. My daughter got the chiken tikka masala and kebab (made with ground turkey). I like spicy food, that kebab had one hell of a kick to it. Theres a steady stream of business here. The food is satisfying and quick. We were in and out of there in 20 mins. Parking isnt too horrible at lunch time.

This update is long overdue! I am taking a star away.. Because the one thing I loved this place for doesnt exist anymore :-(( the fresh made whole wheat rotis!! Yup no longer do they make them in the restaurant, in fact they are not even fresh... Imported prepackaged from an indian restaurant in Canada. They are definitely not whole wheat anymore either.. Bummer My place to go when Im not in the mood for fancy food.. Just home made real food. Perfectly flavored. The only place you get whole wheat fresh rotis!!! Love their chicken tikka, palak paneer and daal!!! The owners are always around working hard and interacting with the customers!! Dont forget to check out their wall decor/paintings.. Beautiful!!

This is the worst Indian food Ive ever had in my life. I am Indian, and have grown up eating Indian food all around California. Please give your patronage to India Clay Oven on Clement Street, or Dosa on Fillmore, or Trader Joes frozen food even, as they all surpass the quality of this Indian food by leaps and bounds. The Thali plate I had was disgusting. The lamb was oddly pink and tasted horrible, and the vegetable was terrible. Please go elsewhere, as its a poor reflection on Indian culture to have this food served under the auspice of "Indian food."

I wanted a healthier option, and Kasa has a salad topped with their tandoori chicken. The chicken was delicious and moist. The rest of the salad was okay. I think it just had too many elements (sautéed veggies, romaine lettuce, two different sauces plus dressing, etc). The portion was huge though, so I was full afterwards despite only eating 3/4 of it. The restaurant has enough seating for a busy crowd or a big group. Theres also lots of condiments available. Ill probably come back to get a Kati roll next time I come here.

Casual, friendly place for home-style Northern Indian cuisine, with the main formats being thali plates and kati rolls. They recently added naan as a (delicious) variation of the rolls. We especially like the lamb and tikka masala, but everything is very good and consistent. For drinks, they offer chai, lassi, beer and wine. Folks that dont like spicy food should be aware that, as with most Indian cuisine, even the dishes that arent labeled as spicy can have a bit of a kick.

I eat here fairly often, and the food is actually surprisingly good as far as San Francisco standards go. My only gripes would be the way in which some of the food is served, as the Kati rolls are wrapped such that they disintegrate while holding them. This is an obvious issue given that they are placing curries and condiments inside the rolls, but they should either trying serving dryer options for the rolls, or come up with a solution to prevent saagy rolls!

This food joint offers a modern take on Indian food. Its more like an americanized version of Indian food. There is not a single Indian working there. So that should make it clear. The food tastes good. Not bad. I feel they shouldve included some more items on the menu. And I think its kinda expensive for what you get. So -1 for that. Americans would like it, mainly because its easier to eat and not too spicy. But I doubt south asians would like it.

My wife doesnt like this place. I only feel comfortable telling her that shes wrong in the safe confines of the internet, where everything is anonymous and speech is free. My wife is wrong. This place is very good. Ive had every item on the menu and enjoyed each one. Has anyone said that this place is Chipotle for Indian? Ok ok, fine. Well Im saying it too. Get over yourselves snobs - Chipotle is awesome. Chipotle for Indian food is awesome.

Just had lunch from the Kasa food truck - parked in The Presidio today. It was AWFUL. Got the $9. "rice plate" - paid extra for lamb curry - and got a bunch of stuff slopped together; had to ask what was what (and the guy was put off by the question although there were no other customers around) ... and found only two small cubes of lamb in my curry and one cube of chicken in my tikka masala. Walked away hungry and feeling ripped off.

Food there is solid, they might not have loads of varieties like most Indian restaurants but what they have are delicious and made with the best organic, local produce. Clean, bright, modern ambiance, great for casual group dinner. I like that its self-served, no servers, no waiting (except for tables if its busy). Price is slightly steep for Indian food, which is why I dont go as much, but its worth the price.

Its a great place to go if you want a no-nonsense meal. The chicken tikka masala was beyond yum! I was expecting something heavy and buttery, but they totally blew me away with their light and flavorful version. The lamb curry was also another pleasant surprise as well. Id highly recommend this place because itll totally shatter any stereotypes or preconceptions you already have of Indian food!

I wish I could leave zero stars. I ordered takeout from Kasa tonight in hope of delicious creamy chicken tikka masala. What I received was a soupy concoction of chicken scraps covered in hooters mild wing sauce. I also overpaid for a warmed up piece of pita bread which was slyly marketed as naan ($3.12). Please improve the quality of your food or make way for better indian eats in SF.

Lamb Curry and Paneer Karahi Kati Rolls were fantastic. I definitely recommend getting them Unda-style. I love the statement their website about ingredient sources: "We believe that natural, local ingredients are better for the environment and create more scrumptious meals. As a result, we use only naturally raised meat and source all of our produce locally when practical."
