I decided to try this place after reading all the great reviews about it. I made the trip to the restaurant for dinner one week night. Once at the restaurant, it took about 7 minutes to be seated, even though the place was virtually empty. The waiters/waitresses seemed to be busy up front and didnt notice customers come in. Upon being seated, it took another 5 minutes for the waiter to return with the menu and the papaddums. It took another 10 minutes to get my food after I placed my order. I hoped the food would make up for the poor service, but alas, it was a double whammy for me. The chicken curry dish I ordered was bland; the dish was neither seasoned nor spiced. I had to add lots of salt to give it some flavor. The rice looked and tasted like leftovers. I ordered a side of naan and that too was terrible: cold, thin and crispy, instead of hot and fluffy. It tasted like naan from the frozen food aisle. Indian cuisine is my favorite and 8 out of 10 times I eat out, I go for Indian cuisine. Bengali Tiger has the worst Indian food Ive ever eaten. Frozen Indian food from your local store beats Bengali hands-down. I will stick to Shalimar in the U-District. Their food never disappoints and the service, prices, and ambience are excellent!

The level of service is deplorable. I waited a couple minutes to be seated only to have the table pointed at and that was it. I was waiting for someone and the 5 minutes I was waiting I didnt have the waiter come by once. I didnt get my drink order in until 10 minutes AFTER the other party arrived. There were 2 other tables occupied at 1pm on a Saturday in late August. There were few people for obvious reasons. the other party ordered a beet when the 2nd waiter came by to collect the dirty plates. The food was mediocre flavor. Though it was done well and not overcooked, there wasnt much flavor for the meat dishes except some heat with the goat curry. The cucumber salad had way too much onion flavor. The naan bread was flavorless and Ive had better naan from the grocery store. The apple carrot salad was good but thats about it. I used a Groupon and I still dont think it was worth it.

Ive been going here for years and I LOVE it. The waitstaff are great, very attentive and friendly. The owner is super nice and usually comes over to each table to greet people and ask how everything is. The new location is great! Everything is new and modern. The food is the best part. I have been to dozens of Indian restaurants in the Seattle area and around the country, and I am ALWAYS disappointed compared to the Bengal Tiger. Its reasonably priced for Indian food (which tends to run high). The basmati rice is AMAZING (many Indian restaurants serve plain white rice--like the kind from a box, not jasmine). My personal favorite dish is Shahi Paneer--delicious!! I also like that Bengal Tiger gives several free appetizers (papadums and soup) while you wait for your food (which is usually very quick). Basically, this is the best restaurant ever!

We went there yesterday for the lunch buffet. Apart from appetizer, naan, rice, 4 types of salads and 2 raitas, they had about 4 vegetarian dishes and 4 non-vegetarian dishes in the buffet. Since we are vegetarians, we requested them for 2 more order of curries for us. They made coconut curry and mango curry. Wow.. Awesome taste. Esp. the Mango one! Me and my husband are still talking about the food we had there and I think we will talk for yrs and yrs. EXCELLENT FLAVOUR! AND EXTRAORDINARY SERVICE!! No other Indian restaurant in WA can beat BENGAL TIGERs FLAVOUR and SERVICE. Mr.Mohammed and Mr.Taj - Thanks so much for your personalized attention and service. Great! See you soon!!

While not quite as good as the Cedars restaurant in the University District Bengal Tiger is certainly a worthwhile stop in the Roosevelt neighborhood food scene. Their menu is large and I especially love the selection of grilled items. The prices are reasonable (about $30 for 2 people) and the staff is always friendly. The are open for lunch and dinner which is always a plus, and they are right across the street from Atlantic Crossing if you are in the mood to grab a beer after dinner. One thing to watch out for is that because there is so much construction in the area parking can get a little tricky, but most people in the Roosevelt/Greenlake area are walking anyway.

This was, by far, the worst dining experience I have had in years. The wait staff did not check on us literally ONCE the entire time. Every single time that I needed something, I had to walk up to them and ask or wave down a passing waiter. They brought us water glasses and didnt even fill them, so I had to get up and ask them to fill them for us. They also didnt bring us silverware, which I had to get up and ask for. The food was VERY mediocre. Nothing special about it whatsoever. Im not even exaggerating when I say that this was absolutely one of the worst dining experiences Ive had, hands down. I will never go back there ever.

When i read the other reviews, i thought this place was very good. I had my share of bengali food in india, and with a name like Bengal Tiger, i was ready to have some famous bengali fish curry. Unfortunately , they didnt have fish, all they had was chicken curry and goat curry ( which was good) , some rice (tasted sweet) and bread(naan) , 4different vegetarian dishes, salad and samosa . I think they should add fish to their lunch menu.I paid appx 14 bucks on weekend lunch

Me and my co-workers have made it an office tradition to head to Bengal Tiger from time to time for their lunch special (just $9.95 for their buffet!). The selection is reliably good: tandori chicken, butter chicken, lamb korma, dahl, saag, naan, sauteed veges, etc. They also indicate their vegetarian and dairy-free options which I greatly appreciate. The staff is always kind and helpful. I highly recommend dining here.

This is certainly one of the best buffet i have ever experienced. The lamb and chicken curry is really good. They use the perfect amount of spice. The desert items (e.g. Firni and Mango Mousse) are phenomenal. You might get some gratuitous items just by praising their food. They choose quality over quantity, which I like. I am recommending this restaurant to everyone. Finally, the owners are really polite and respectful.

Been going here for years, they have a lot of voucher deals on groupon, living social, etc which makes for a very affordable outing with a friend. Havent tried their buffet, but everything ive tried on their dinner menu has been good. Very modern and upscale vibe. They catered to our desired spiciness level which was appreciated. Food tasted good and was of decent size, leaving us full. Overall will go again.

Liked the food ok but the staff was not very intuitively kid friendly...for example we had to ask 2x for our naan which had gotten delivered to a different table even though we had asked for it. Plus we had to ask for more naan it wasnt offered even though if theyd been paying attention it would have been clear we wanted it. We loved everything but the service was only ok...

A friendly atmosphere gives way to even better food. The Bengal Tiger serves up some of the best - and the spiciest! - Indian dishes in the city. If you love Cedars, give Bengal Tiger a try one night and see what youve been missing. A forewarning though, as the dishes are all cooked uniquely, the food takes some time to prepare and service can be slow when it is busy.
