Taken from my yelp written on June 20, 2017. Came in around 21:45ish (9:45pm) on June 19, 2017. We quickly got a seat for five of us. I got unlucky and sat on the edge of the table. As for the order, I got the Tajima ramen with chicken and thin noodles. Out of the five of us, my food came out first. I wanted to wait for my friends order, but it took another 7-10 minutes so I got started eating. The ramen I had was okay. I can say everything tasted fine on that ramen except for the 2 pieces of chicken. It just was a bit too salty for my taste. One of my friends was disappointed in the portion of the order that he got. He got some fried rice and it was only about the size of a small bowl. He was not full. As for the service, I think it was average. I can not recall the server (on the receipt it says Carrie) smiling once, I felt she either had a bad day (if that is the case, I hope next time she smiles) or did not enjoy herself working there. The service is slow near closing hour. The server wasnt really around to check on us except maybe once to refill the water. So the service is average to me. At the end, we noticed that there was a charge on an item that we never received on the receipt. We were able to get it taken off after flagging down our server. However, they were generous to give it to us for free, but it is probably because it was 22:30 (10:30pm) which is their closing time. I felt they gave it to us because it would be a waste if they threw it away. Still, the service is average. Maybe everyone just wants to go home on a Monday night. Overall though, it is an okay place. Nothing was out of the ordinary for me, but my friend was too generous so he tipped 2 dollars more than what we all wanted to tip. I would try to avoid coming an hour before closing as service just becomes average. Maybe next time will be better for me. That we shall see.

Tried the regular and the spicy, both with the Tajima original tonkotsu broth. The regular is a pretty solid bowl of tonkotsu ramen. The spicy is more unusual, and the flavor of the spice isnt just the typical tantan men flavor, but rather more like maybe Korean gochujang.Between the thin and thick noodles I liked the thick better. When I was there for lunch, they were really painfully understaffed. Tables left but werent cleaned for half an hour while a crowd waited outside to be seated. I actually ordered a kakuni but they gave me a regular instead, and when I pointed it out they denied it at first before coming out with a plate of kakuni on the side. I think they were a bit heavy-handed with the MSG here, my mouth was feeling majorly dry later on.

Lousy service. A BUNCH of rude young people were the only ones working when I went here. Looks like an upscale restaurant on the outside but more like a sports bar..which WOULD have been fun if it werent for such crappy service. VERY rude serving ladies kept looking me up and down and wouldnt speak (one of them half dressed...had her shirt tied up with her stomach out as if i want to see that when i eat). When i stood by the register/bar to pay, I stood there for almost ten minutes while servers walked by me and the person behind the register quietly kept cursing and complaining abiut some technical issues. Surprisingly there was a LOT of chatting and cursing from employees. Unprofessional.

This place is great. The food is next level ramen! I lived in Japan over 3 years. This ramen meets or beats 80% of what I tried out of the Kanto plains while looking for the best ramen. That being said, it is a little pricey. However, the specials during their exceptionally long happy hours more then make up for it. I love there takoyaki and recommend people to try it first here. A mere 3 dollars during happy hour and it may change your life!(as in trying new food you may not have tried before) my only issue is the feel of the "izakaya" is too American style. Hard to put into words and it would t really effect my rating. Food 5

One of the best ramen spots Ive tried in SD. The broth is delicious. The portions are large and always tastes fresh. The karaage is always a great starter. I also enjoy the quiet, cozy atmosphere. The wait staff are always friendly and welcoming. There was this one waitress working yesterday that Ive never seen before. She was super nice and amazingly beautiful. It was like time stood still while she filled my water and checked on us. I could hardly get a word out or a simple head nod. Id go back again not only for the food, but to maybe share a word or two with a tall Asian beauty.

Pretty much love this place for when I am feeling more than just sushi for my Japanese fix. I always get their Pork Belly Soup because I honestly dont know any other restaurant that can make something similar which is equally as good. Sure, you can get ramen, or sushi, or fried chicken, or a rice bowl with chicken katsu... but their Pork Belly is truly a delight. Pork belly braised in a soy sauce base.. never knew something so simple could be so good! I also really enjoy their green tea creme brulee. Definitely just the right amount of matcha sweetness that completes a meal for me.

The price I listed seems high, but its only because I like to drink while Im there. Almost everything is under $10 and most of it is under $7. The food is kind of a la carte, so you wont be ordering one thing and getting a full meal unless you order noodles, but it gives you an opportunity to try multiple dishes, and I havent found anything I havent liked. The place is kind of small so seating can take a while, even on weekdays, but I dont mind it at all. The service is good, the staff is friendly.

I had been going to the other location for years and just recently started going to this Tajima. I really like this location! The service is always friendly, the atmosphere feels more relaxed and intimate and the food is delicious. They even play old school slow jams which really helps set the mood. If youre looking for ramen, I highly recommend the pork belly, with thin noodles and Tajima broth. For appetizers, I really love the takoyaki, beef tataki or any of the karrage dishes. Yum yum yum!

I gave this place teo stars because I recieved very inadequate meals due to lack of pork on the german fries ramen bowl and the sashimi quality was good but the chef who prepared it must have learned how to cut fish like jason it was wierd.... maybe the fish was alive when he cut it... for 50 bucks I paid for music and a restaurant service that was completely sub par compared to the other Tajima.... they even combined a friends meal and mine together. I WILL NOT EVER EAT AT THIS ONE AGAIN!!!!

Very nice place, music was good. We were seated right away and helped right away. We pretty much got all of the food at the same time meaning appetizers and entrees when we ordered at least 7-8 minutes apart. The food was all made really well. The only bad part was our waitress, basically after she gave us our food she NEVER came back! When she did come back she came with our check, and the kid wanted dessert! Sooo probably wont go back... to many ramen places with much better service.
