SO VERY GOOD. Probably one of the best ramens Ive had thus far. Their broth had so much flavor without it being super super greasy (something I look for is if the broth sort of congeals as the temperature cools, and theirs didnt!) Their noodles were perfect and they had different options to accommodate your noodle preference. AND THE PORK.. oh the pork... it was fantastic. They give nice, thick, fat cuts of pork. My bowl of ramen was just perfection. I also want to point out that the seaweed was super tasty, and normally i dont really care for seaweed. I highly recommend getting the tajima ramen with thick noodles and make it spicy! I also tried their takoyaki and gyoza and they were both delicious. If you want a drink to go with your meal, try the wasabi beer if they have it! The beer has a unique taste at the end, it doesnt really taste like wasabi but it was good. I dont think you can find it in a lot of places so its worth getting here to enjoy with your meal :) Its usually pretty crowded, so the wait time is long especially for larger parties greater than 4. They have one large communal table and a couple of tables for 2 or 4 people. Parking is only available on the street. DEFINITELY A MUST TRY IF YOURE A RAMEN FAN.

First time checking out this place on a Saturday evening. Thought it would be super packed, but nope, not at all. Got seated right away & mentioned to the waiter it was our first time trying out ramen. He got all excited and happy that we chose Tajima. He explained the menu and I ordered the Vegan Ramen with spinach noodles. Waited about 10 mins or so for the ramen. I love soups and being able to try ramen for the first time was exciting! So, our order comes out and the bowl is a very decent size bowl. Im thinking I might not be able to finish it all. The ramen bowl had all sorts of veggies, mushrooms, corn, tofu, asparagus and mixed green lettuce. The broth is creamy and smelled delish! Overall the taste of the was good, but it was a bit too salty for me. Not sure if ramen is suppose to be on the salty side, but I had like 4 glasses of water and I hadnt even finished. I would have liked more corn and mushrooms - (not sure whats up with the mixed green lettuce, maybe next time Ill order it with no lettuce) I will give this place another try once colder weather hits. 3/5 stars due to the saltiness.

Pig food. Absolute slop. Half of my ramen noodles were overcooked to a foamy texture, the other half were stuck together and hard as a tree trunk. I was served cuts of pork that were all husk, nearly no meat and way oversalted. The egg was served upside down and the yolk was missing. The broth tastes like salty, thick milk. Canned broth would be an improvement. The drinking water served is room tempurature with tap water ice cubes and a warm cup. Seriously, buy some water or at least filter it. My server was some sort of techno punk with a multicolored moehawk, "HEY SUP BRO?!". He cant pronounce a single item on the menu. These "ramen chefs" should be embarrased of themselves. This is an absolute shame to ramen. They should make a switch and sell Cup-o-noodles.

Yea why not a four star, I ask myself as I determine what it should be. Although I dont think Tajima is as good as Santouka, they are good enough for me to keep coming again and again. So because of this Im definitely a fan. Ordered their edamame and just dont do it, not worth it. Very salty for some reason. Stick with the ramen only. I usually order the Tonkatsu Ramen that has everything in it. I like the taste and the fact that the broth doesnt taste too fatty. Great place to go to if youre close by. The service has been great the both times I have been there even at their busiest. Dont forget to write your name on the stand when they are busy. They do go off that list. Enjoy!

Five stars for adding another location and for keeping consistent with the flavor! I personally cant get enough of ramen let alone tajima ramen. Their tonkatsu ramen with pork chasu is my favorite so when i heard a location in Hillcrest (down the block from where i live) was open i was really excited. They dont have a big menu as they do in the other locations but they have the essentials for me - ramen and karaage. For newcomers, thats all you need to start here and then can venture to the other locations for katsu bowls, canadian fries, and other yummies. Please note this location is not the biggest so there still will be a wait but not as bad as the other locations.

This is the second Tajima location Ive been to and I do have to say, I like this one better for some reason... I dont know if the ramen broth was off at the last one I went to, but this one more than made up for it. I had the gyoza and I would say that they are definitely a must have! Perfectly crunch and juicy all at the same time. I had the Tajima ramen with thin noodles and I would definitely have it again. I did give it one star less for the inconvenience in parking however, but all parking aside come to this location, your stomach and wallet will be happy!

If ever in San Dog and your are in the mood for ramen, this is the pace to visit. Parking is a little like difficult but worth the time. Service was quick and ramen hot! I ordered the Tajima Ramen. Pork base broth so it is creamy. I believe they let the broth cook like for 10 hours our something like that. The chasu was tender and flavorful. The Broth! Hmmmm. I believe there was other things other than Ramen I their menu. Did not really pay attention to them. I think they are open till very late. I want to say midnight or maybe later.

Let me begin with the service. We get here and with no line we are asked to put our names on the list and wait outside until ready (party of 5) we waited about 20mins after all that we ended up sitting at the bar. Three orders of the vegan Ramen were ordered, it had flavor but was overly salted. My son ordered fried rice - it was bland and sushi. We only saw the waiter three times, when the order was taken, when the food was delivered and when the bill was delivered. I would not recommend this place to my friends nor would I come back.

Decent Ramen bar. Prices around $11/bowl. Parking can be difficult to find as street parking or the Rite Aid pay parking lot are your only choices. They have a decent tonkatsu ramen, but not as much umami as some of the other restaraunt I have been to in other parts of San Diego. They do have a vegan ramen which is unique and the hand rolls are kind of weird because they arent the usual cone shape but more like a cylinder.
