My friend and I were very excited about having brunch at her local "hip" go to place. I admit, after looking at the menu and waiting for a table for 45 min+ I was pretty stoked about all the hype. When the hostess FINALLY called our small party of 2 I was starving but thought, Hey it is going to be worth the wait. We walked through the front door and the hostess signaled to the table that is a barrel right by the front door. Besides the fact that every single person would be walking by our table, I quickly noticed that I couldnt actually sit facing forward since the table was a huge barrel unless I intended to straddle the thing. Even then, I dont think I have the flexibility. I thought... well... hm.. lets see... the table was also almost down to my belly, so... if I wanted to try to enjoy my food I would have to hunch over the entire time and pray that nothing fell on my clothes. I looked over and saw quite a few tables open. I asked the hostess if she could kindly move us to a neighboring "regular table". She quickly said no! I wanted to really give it a chance... but I absolutely could not. It was not a comfortable situation at all and its not like Im paying taco shop prices!! I walked over to the assistant manager and asked him the same question. He was quick to say no with MAJOR attitude. I pointed out that there was a table outside for 2 people that we could possibly snag but, he mentioned that was for people that had dogs?... I pointed out the other free tables inside and he quickly followed with "those are reserved". I was puzzled because my friend called to see if we could make reservations and she was told she was not able to. I told the guy that there was no way I could sit at the table that was given to us, I expressed my discomfort and dissatisfaction yet he still followed up with HORRIBLE customer service. He said I shouldnt have a problem eating there. How would he know if I had back problems? If I would have had a dog would I have been seated in a normal table? Im not a difficult person by any means but this assistant managers customer service was one of the absolute worst experiences I have encountered. Not even an "im sorry for the inconvenience" or and " I undersnatnd" no. It was you can sit there or wait a lot longer for a table EVEN tho there was plenty of seating. Talk about being stubborn and trying to prove a point or taking his frustrations out on customers. Unfortunate because I was looking forward to my brunch experience there and I just could not bare to stay there after the bad customer service and horrible seating. I had to give this place a 1 star because 0 was not an option. :(

I came with breakfast buddy and we arrived right at 8am when it opened. Greeted with a warm smile we were seated immediately with a couple other groups already seated. My friend and I usually go ham when we try out new restaurants and today was no different. After looking at the menu we decided to get the stuffed french toast (mangos and strawberry) , parfait (their own strawberry yogurt with granola, coconut, dried figs, and walnuts), and the crab cake benedict, BUT! with avocado and tomato on the benedict and you have to upgrade the potatoes to the house potatoes that have rosemary, arugula, and parmesan cheese. This place gets a 4 because everything was good just not amazing. except for the potatoes. those were amazing. they had a huge amount of flavor and they give you a lot. The french toast was average, however the mangos are a great twist on the usual stuffings most places use. The benedict was okay. The crab cakes were really good, but the hollandase sauce was more like gravy and wasnt very good. Overall its an okay place. I left happy because I was full and the food was good but nothing great and nothing really go come back for. Happy Hunting!

I came here once before and thought that the customer service was great but after today the waitress by the name of toni proved me wrong. We asked her if the cook could cut off the outside line of the Canadian bacon and she said I dont think he can do that ,so I figured maybe I wasnt making sense so I explained it a Lil better and she said , "no, the cook wont do it, so I said oh ok and she had kept going on on trying to make a point as to how she has to keep the cook happy and the customer too and kept rambling about the cook, my response was , so who cares about the customers but as long as your cook is happy, I was upset and asked her to give me some time.she didnt even ask the cook ,she answered for him/her. Point is I was going to order it even if the cook couldnt do it, but her response was just worded wrong and made me and my family feel like we werent valued as customers. She needs to get training on how to handle certain situations with customers and how sometimes it best just to stay quite and say ok. If that was the case I would have stayed and ate there.

Someone in our party doesnt like the smoked flavor on the outside of the Canadian bacon. We nicely asked if they would cut the edge off of it for the benedict. Doesnt seem like a very difficult request. The server then said, oh the kitchen could but I dont think that they will. Then she goes on to explain that she has to try to keep the kitchen staff happy and the customers happy and its a little dance she has to do. This is total bs, if someone works in a kitchen they shouldnt have any issue with preparing food for a customer. WE WERE 1 OF THE ONLY 3 PARTIES IN THE RESTAURNANT!! Its not like you were to busy for this request. We decided to leave and luckily SNOOZE is right around the corner and they actually CARE about their customers. No wonder there is a line for snooze and only 2 people at fig tree.

My family and I walked past this place on our way to Snooze, and my mom suggested we just stay here. Im so glad we did! I Ordered the Mexican mocha expecting the same bland and bitter thing I usually get when I order at other places but I was very pleasantly surprised, its made with Chocolate Abuelita, a classic Mexican staple and it was perfectly sweet. I think I found my new favorite coffee drink. The fig & ricotta stuffed French toast was a huge hit for my very picky family. I got the turkey sandwich, it was a solid 8/10, very tasty. And since it was my birthday, they served me a warm pecan coffee cake and it was DELICIOUS. Im very happy we ended up here, as it had been overlooked on my original search for delicious breakfast spots in Hillcrest

Weve looked at this place a few times since it opened and last Sunday evening Fig Tree Cafes opportunity arose to impress us.It was pretty quiet so we sat where we wanted to basically. Our servers name was Gina and she was extremely pleasant throughout the evening. For starters we tried a little combo called Trio which came with tasty dipping sauce.I ordered a Napa Smith pale ale.For entrees we thought we would try the crab stuffed prawns and the tequila lobster ravioli. We thought nearly everything we ordered was good without being terrific. My Napa Smith pale ale was pretty average...almost flat.Maybe Sunday evenings is not their 5 star night. We were very impressed with Ginas wonderful attention to detail which made our evening enjoyable.
