My fiancée and I stopped by with her parents because she had been here once before and couldnt stop raving about it. Well, to our pleasant surprise, we really enjoyed our experience at Snooze! We came by around 1pm on a Tuesday and it was jam-packed. Looked like mostly college students and some bible study groups and a few couples. So this place is popular for group dining. There was 90s alt-rock/pop playing and it kind of set the mood for a sort-of "college café" feel. The decor on the outside was interesting because it looked like a HUGE garage door for the entrance that shuts downward (upon closing I presume). The inside was modern, trendy and had slashes of bright orange and whites, giving it a very "giddy" feel. The seating booths inside were cozy and there was also seating outside, so the place is spacious. We were kindly greeted "Good Morning!!" By our waiter and I could just [feel] the positive energy in his speech and expressions. It led to give a positive aura about the establishment and that was priceless. Attitude is almost everything to me when it comes to service. Now for the menu; think BREAKFAST meets DESERT meets UNIQUE TREATS. Hah! From their burritos, to omelets, to eggs Benedict, to their speciality sandwiches, the French toast or the House-Special Pancakes; their menu was eclectic. So many good-looking options, we didnt know where to start!! What really sets this establishment aside from a lot of others is that they have gluten-free options for those who prefer them. This is priceless nowadays with so many people having food allergies or just on health-conscious diets. We also really enjoyed the house-brewed teas, chai, Bloody Mary and even the Mojitos made with Cruzan Rum were bangin!! Cruzan Rum is so hard to find and its one of the worlds smoothest rums too! Yeah, our orders took a little while to arrive; but that was expected with the crowd we had and besides, when youre there with family and friends to chat with, the time just flies by. We ate; indulging in a plethora or yumminess and my ONLY complaint is that they didnt have TURKEY BACON. Ive heard there are others who have requested this as well, so perhaps if we speak up more, management will make it happen! Bottom-line: "If you snooze on SNOOZE, you lose!"

We arrived at noon on a Monday and told there was a 20 minute wait. Called back at 12:30 and the restaurant is half empty inside uh.... what? We take a few minutes to order them wait for around 45 minutes for our food. When it finally arrived half of my pancakes were cold. At that point I was starving and just ate them. The waiter only checked on us a couple times and never asked how our food was after it had been brought to the table. After we were finishing eating another table that had just ordered a few minutes ago immediately got their food, and they also ordered pancakes. -_- Needless to say this two hour experience did not leave us happy. The food was ok, even though the other person eating with me felt sick for hours after they had eaten, but it was overshadowed by the incredibly long wait times and inefficient service.

This was the worst service I have ever experienced in San Diego. I used the "No Wait" app, and checked in when we arrived. I was told there would be a 30 minute wait. After waiting almost an hour, I checked with the hostess to see how much longer. He was very rude and unhelpful. We literally stood there and watched THREE different parties who were not already on the list get seated before us. One of them was an older man who had a puppy with him. Instead of taking care of customers, the hostesses stood there and played with the puppy on the check in counter for at least five minutes. Then, they went to clean tables without washing their hands. How unsanitary is that? I would not recommend this location to anyone! Youre better off going to the one in Hillcrest. Do not waste your time here!

Snooze is one of those places that is almost always busy when it is open - there are frequently lines of people waiting to eat here and they dont seem to mind. On Mothers Day, I took my wife and kids and got there pretty early. While there was already a line waiting to be seated, our wait was just about 10 minutes. The staff is super friendly, making everyone feel welcome and taken care of. They even had gifts and gift bags for all the moms! The menu had lots of choices, the food was excellent and the prices were unbelievably low for the neighborhood. Cannot recommend Snooze enough. Will definitely be going back soon - and probably adding it as a place to take out of town guests to show off our neighborhood.

I thank my lucky stars for Del Mar Snooze for curing me of my extreme post-birthday hangover with one of their many delicious bloody marys. They do their Bloody Marys just right. Each and every one of them. Cant go wrong. This is the better of the 2 locations in San Diego because the wait is much less here! Its newer, and people havent caught on yet. Or theyre all too busy working out- in classic Del Mar fashion. The dishes are very unique, whimsical, and tasty. Pineapple upside down pancake IS A MUST. As far as their egg dishes are concerned, I recommend to be very very specific on how you want your eggs. They have messed up this simple challenge many more times than worth admitting.

This place is so well run that I suspect it is owned by business school professors and graduates. Truly a model for all other breakfast eateries. The food, decor, service, music, prices, even the restrooms are all excellent. Everyone is friendly and fun. The problem is that they set the standard so high that every time I go out to eat somewhere else I am invariably disappointed. I compare the experience to that of Snooze and the difference is stark. I love to see well run businesses like this chain succeeding. I hope to see a snooze open in every neighborhood in the West.

I wish I could give this place more stars. Seriously the best breakfast weve ever had. Hubby ordered the Chilaquiles Benedict which he said was THE BOMB! I ordered the OMG French Toast...dear lord, theres a reason its called that. Literally "oh my god" was the first thing that came out of my mouth. "Holy crap" was the second thing. I cant even explain how delicious everything was. They have a wonderful way of developing each dish with layers of flavor. We went on a Tuesday around 11, maybe waited 5 minutes. Ahhhhmazing! We will definitely be back.

*Dislcaimer: Came here last year sometime. So Im going to try and remember as best I can. This place is located in the downtown area of Hillcrest. If youre in the area and looking for breakfast, this should be your FIRST pick. I would probably go with The Range at a close second. IMO. Cool/Fun retro decor. Good service. I had the breakfast pot pie and it was pretty good. I wasnt falling out of my chair (like when I first tried the chicken benedict at Hash House), but it was solid. Cant wait to try the pancakes...

Ive been to the one in Hillcrest before, and this one in Del Mar tastes just as good. The line is a little bit shorter, but I think it depends on what time you arrive. I had the pancake flight, which was delicious as always. I also ordered their OMG French Toast. Im not normally a fan of coconut, but this dish managed to keep the flavor subtle while still adding to the overall taste of the french toast. Everything was a bit on the sweet side without tasting too sweet. Would definitely come again!
