I went here with my wife and kids after my coworker had recommended it to me since I was in the San Diego area for the weekend. First, parking was very difficult and I was lucky to find a spot (this was at 9am on a Sunday morning) but I cant really hold that against the restaurant. As we walked up to the building, we caught a really strong smell of rotting fish? Im still not sure what it was but it was pretty bad. The group in front of me (a couple with two little kids) was seated immediately after they checked in so I was hoping we could get seated right away too. When we got to where the hostess was, I told her that I had a reservation at 9am for five people. (I made this reservation several days in advance). She told me that I would have to wait off to the side of the steps until we could be seated. As I was waiting, at least two more couples were behind us with reservations at 9am as well and they were all promptly taken to their tables. Meanwhile, we were still waiting "off to the side" while people were squeeezing by us on their way out of the restaurant. Finally once there was no one left in line, they took us back to an outside booth near the restroom and they seated us there. The booth was comfortable but apparently the building next to the restaurant is undergoing construction so we had a great view of the chain link fence separating the two properties. I ordered the coast toast along with an omelette but when I asked the waitress who brought us our food about it, she just said "They didnt say anything about an order of coast toast." and just gave me a blank stare. The guy who took our order remembered though and I got my plate not too long after that. Overall, the food was very good which is what we came down there for. Make sure you get the coast toast - it is excellent like everyone says. It was ok, but I dont think I would go there again.

THIS PLACE IS FLAT OUT BAD! 1) Service: My friends and I walked into the restaurant, and our server looked at us and treated us like crap because we were 3 young korean guys. Because we saw him servicing other tables with very friendly manner. 2). Food: I ordered Filet Mignon which was about $35, and it was HORRIBLE. I also tasted my friends entrees they ordered and it was mediocre. I seriously thought that it wouldve been better for us to go to McDonalds or eat Ramen Noodles. 3). Location: Location is great because you can see the La Jolla Beach from the deck, and it SEEMS like a wonderful restaurant from the outside, but the food is BAD so I would never come back here. 4). Value: FOOD SUCKS, OVER PRICED, but view is good. We were there in the dinner time and the place was slow compare to other restaurants. I believe only reason they are still open is because vulnerable tourists who will visit there just for the view. 5). Personal Experience: Again this place right off of the beach, so Ive been swimming at the beach and it was super hot, so I had my shirt off. If the host wouldve let me know that I need my shirt on before I enter, It wouldve been all good, I would respect their policy. But she said no such thing so I thought it was ok. Even when the server came, he never said anything. After about 30mins inside sitting, some guy (dunno who but looked like a staff) came to me saying that I need to put my shirt on, but he said it in a rude way like Im ignorant of their policy or something. 6) Overall: BAD SERVICE, OVER PRICED, HORRIBLE FOOD but good views.

My husband and I chose Brockton Villa for our wedding reception venue. The wedding was last weekend, and it was truly amazing. Brockton was the perfect place to hold the reception. We worked with the manager Jeff to plan the evening in the months leading up to the event. He was a pleasure to work with and made the process really enjoyable and easy. He even accommodated a special request for fresh French baguettes as part of our apps and had them picked up from a local bakery the day of the event. We did our reception from 4-9 pm with open beer and wine, a champagne toast, buffet-style apps, dinner and dessert. The food was top-quality, every dish was tasty and made with high quality ingredients (our main dishes were chicken, salmon and short ribs). We had a special playlist of music that we created that we had playing over the house speakers during the night. We had about 50-60 guests and it was plenty of space for us on the outside veranda and main dining room. The wait staff was incredible at attending to our guests all through the night and making sure everyone was taken care of. You just can’t beat the view and atmosphere at Brockton Villa, it was such a romantic, perfect night. For everything that was included, the service, amazing food, and the experience as a whole, the cost was extremely reasonable in my opinion, especially compared to some of the absurd quotes I received from some other businesses. Thank you Jeff, the chef, and everyone else at Brockton for helping to make such an incredible night that I will remember for the rest of my life.

We came to La Jolla for the sea caves, and decided to grab some brunch. There wasnt too many options on the ocean side, so we decided on this spot. So glad we did. Being Sunday, we expected a wait. It was about 20 minutes. The hostess wasnt very friendly, so I wasnt expecting much. Thankfully after we were seated, we didnt have to see her again. Our server was awesome. Attentive, and quick. He took Our drink orders. I got the vanilla frapp, and my hubby got the mocha frapp. Both were amazing! Creamy, and flavorful. Our server checked on us often, and was quick to bring anything we asked for. I ordered the carne asada eggs Benedict. They were absolutely amazing. The meat was juicy and tender and had a wonderful flavor. The eggs were cooked perfectly. It was one of the best eggs benedict I have ever had. I also got the breakfast potatoes, they were good but not great. My husband got the club sandwich. He really enjoyed it. The Cucumber slices on it were a little bit thick for his taste, and he asked for extra mayo on the side, it was a little dry. But he liked it a lot. At first, he wasnt really into the clam chowder, but as he ate it he really liked it. He said it had crab in it as well. The views are spectacular. The ambiance is comfortable casual and relaxed. I believe its all outdoor seating. We had a great meal, and I felt kinda fancy eating here. I definitely want to come back!

We are a family of four with two kids under 10. The hostess was not present while we waited to be seated, & has a feeling no one was going to come. Once we were seated, we had a nice view of the ocean. i was talked into ordering a glass of wine & was surprised that not only did they not offer Riesling or a Moscato, the glass itself was less than half full. My husband and son ordered a salad with their burger, as no side items came with the burger. The "salad" was a small amount of mixture of greens placed on the same plate as the burger. My son thought it belonged on the burger! The house dressing" was non existent & if it was present, it had a bland taste. My $28 lobster risotto was good, but scant lobster meat was found in it and did not come with a salad. So two Angus burgers, lobster risotto, kids spaghetti, glass of Chardonnay wine & three carbonated beverages was $95 w/o tip. Not worth it. I picked this restaurant from an internet search. If you are looking for over priced barley there portions and a la carte add ons- this is your place.
