This review is directed solely towards the management of this establishment. I strongly believe our terrible experience and this review both could have been avoided if some sort of management could have taken the time out of their apparently unbelievably busy schedule to speak with me. My boyfriend and I arrived at the liberty station location about 930am on a Thursday morning. We were sat on the patio seeing that we had brought our pup along. Waters were immediately brought to the table by a man and then about 5 minutes later our server came and asked us what wed like to drink. We both ordered coffee and I let her know we were ready to order as well. After I ordered, my boyfriend was disappointed to hear they had run out of the entree he had chosen. He asked for some time to look over the menu some more and when she returned he decided on the breakfast burrito. The service at this point was good except you could tell our server was overwhelmed. Our coffees sat empty while waiting for our food. When it arrived, the person who dropped it off did not offer coffee or ask if we needed anything. Our server finally checked on us after several minutes had passed. We told her what we needed and a couple minutes later a man arrived with everything we asked for but still no coffee. Getting more and more frustrated as the time passes I attempted a few times to flag down another member of the staff and was shocked to see several workers just standing around while our server was swamped. She finally returned with the coffee and I told her we were ready to go. Both of us barely touched our food seeing we waited so long to get the condiments and coffee we were looking to enjoy with our food. At this point we just wanted to leave. Unfortunately, we could not go just yet because our check was wrong. I dont blame the server, she was so busy and none of her Co workers seemed to care. After finishing up our much waited for coffee, I decided to let a manager know about our sub par experience in hopes someone can learn from this. I walked up to the host stand and asked her if a manager was available. She said she would go get her. She then returned and said "my manager is on a conference call so she cant talk to you, have a nice day." I stood there for a second absolutely dumbfounded. Not only is the manager not on the floor for one of the restaurants busiest parts of the morning but apparently I was not important enough to speak with. Seriously??? Having worked in several restaurants throughout my career, both as a server and manager, I was absolutely taken back by all of this. Still willing to give this manager another try I decided to call the restaurant after lunch service was over. About 2pm I called the liberty station location and asked to speak to a manager. I was told she was not there but she still be back later. I then told them I was looking to speak to her about a bad experience I had in the restaurant. She said the manager will probably be too busy to call me that night but should be able to call me tomorrow. Once again, I could not believe what I was hearing. Feeling helpless, I gave her my number and waited. Now, here I am writing this review because I never received that call I was promised. I honestly hope you dont have any issues when you visit this location because if you do, good luck getting a manager to give a care about it. We will certainly not be returning.

We just returned from our first (and last) visit to the Fig Tree Cafe in PB. My mothers entire plate of Huevos Rancheros was presented cold. She found this out after taking one bite of the eggs, and one bite of the beans. She asked that the dish be re-prepared, rather than microwaving up the food. The plate was returned a couple of minutes later, with the same bite taken out of the eggs, as they had not prepared her dish fresh. Once again, despite the microwave attempt, the beans were still cold. After returning to the kitchen again, the meal was finally prepared fresh. She finally had an opportunity to try the rice; so underdone it was still firm. My wife had the California Omelet. It was "meh", but the side of potatoes were severely underdone. Her toast came without butter and by the time it arrived, her toast was cold. I had the stuffed french toast, being the adventuresome one, and was not impressed at all. The fig jam it was to be served with was more like a fig syrup it was so loose in consistency. What prompts this review is that we came here as it was touted as one of the top 8 places to go for breakfast in San Diego. Wrong, wrong, wrong. If youre looking for a consistently good California Omelet, go to Norms. If you want Huevos Rancheros that will have you licking your plate, go to Harrys. Major disappointment here.

San Diego Swag Upon arrival, all I saw were really fit girls going on their morning jogs, handsome surfer dudes walking around with their surf boards, and fat foodies like me just waiting in line to get their grub on. It is quite the scene. Brunch with a twist Breakfast Sushi - Bacon wrapped around fried rice with some sort of magical tasting elixir. It is exactly what it sounds like, replace the seaweed wrap in a sushi roll with thick delicious paprika bacon then replace your white rice with fried rice. One thing I would say is, after the first (out of three) piece, the flavors get a little boring, so share this dish. Stuffed French Toast - with mangos, strawberries and cheese. How do you even go wrong with this? Theyre so chubby, its almost cute Eggwich - Wow, phe-no-min-al (did I spell that right?). Surprsing the side potatoes were almost the star of this dish. A restaurant is only as good as its sides, and wow, this place had a bomb side. Share Share Share. Do yourself a favor and share the dishes with your friends and family at this one. You get to try more!

The food was great. However the service was terrible, our waiter was rude! I went with my boyfriend and another couple and we split the bill between 2 debit cards... however they charged both amounts to both cards. After the terrible service, the waiter acting like special (but simple!) requests like fruit in place of potatoes was too much to ask, and overcharging two cards.... we wont be returning. The food is good, but everyone says the Hillcrest location is better, I would go there. As someone who routinely asks for specific changes (limited diet) I am used to some grumpiness, but this was just too much. I am always happy to pay extra for my substitutions but to be told that I am inconvenient and have a waiter judge me and make me feel bad for asking for things that I NEED (hello has anyone heard of food allergies?) was horrible. I hope that the waitstaff is given a lesson on customer service STAT because its a shame to see a great restaurant (as far as the food) lose business because of rude staff.
