Tower Cafe gets a 3.5 stars in my book. A friend recommended this place for brunch so we planned to stop by on our way up to Tahoe. We never made it since we were running late. Luckily, they also serve Brunch on holidays so on our way back from Tahoe on Monday (fourth of July), we were able to make a pit-stop. I really like the ambiance of this place as its very unique. However, we were not able to enjoy it as we were told that dogs were not allowed on the patio. We ended up getting our orders to-go and ate on a bench right outside the restaurant . It was about 100 degrees and we were sweating! Famous French Toast: A+! I really liked the french toast. Its unlike any that Ive ever had. Its very crunchy on the outside but moist and soggy in the middle. Im not usually a french toast kind of person but I devoured this! Eggs Tower (aka eggs benedict): F This was a forgettable dish. In fact, it was so bad, I ate about 1/4 of it and threw away the rest. Ive never had such bad tasting eggs benedict. Chorizo Burrito: B+ BF really liked the Chorizo Burrito. He said it was very flavorful and cooked well. I also enjoyed it. Its a wet burrito so there were lots of sauce smeared all over. Overall: This is a decent brunch spot,. Next time Im in the area, Id come here for the French Toast and maybe some of their desserts (which we didnt have room to try). The line outside was long but it didnt seem as if customers had to wait long for a table.

My girlfriends and I had lunch today at the Tower Cafe. There were seven of us, so our wait was around 30 minutes, which is fine, that is understandable. Once we were seated we waited another 20 minutes for our waiter to come and take our order and another 20-30 minutes to receive our food. During the time we were seated and finally placing our orders to receiving our meals, no one came by to check to see if everything was okay or if we needed anything and not once did they even refill our water glasses. Several times we tried to wave and get somebodies attention, but no one would look our way. Finally after we finished our meal, the waiter came over to see if we wanted desert, which we declined and he hurridly brought our check back to us. The bill included an 18% gratuity which was no way what he deserved and to top the girls day out, we had one of the workers come to our table and say they had a group of 21 waiting for quite some time and needed our table. I have never been rushed out of a restaurant ever. We had to wait just as long as they had, we had the worst service and had to pay 18% gratuity for it. I will never step foot in this place again nor will I recommend this place to anyone. I will be sure that anyone I know who wants to go to this place knows exactly what kind of business they run.

A pretty cool brunch place that is "international themed" and has a wide variety of breakfast and lunch options. Overall its pretty overhyped and disappointing. I waited 40 minutes on a Sunday which was not worth it in my opinion- if youre coming on a weekend try to arrive before 10 AM. The ambiance wasnt that great- while the outdoors seemed nice it was right next to the waiting area and extremely packed. The indoor section was busy, cramped and very loud. It was difficult to have a casual conversation with my friend while waiters and guests were constantly cycling pass the table. I ordered their special croque madame/monte cristo - french toast turkey sandwich with an egg on top and smothered with hollandaise sauce. It was very heavy, each bite got harder to eat and I struggled to complete my meal despite being so hungry before. I couldve done without the sauce, Im not sure if that is an option but that is just my suggestion. This place gets business mostly because of its fame and because Sacramento socialites want to show off on a Sunday here. For the price and dining experience, Id have to pass up this place and get brunch somewhere else in the area.

We arrived abit late for breakfast or brunch( which was the reason we went there in the first place) as we had to wait for 20 min outside in the middle of the rain just to be seated, this was quite inconvenient as it was extremely cold and we had 2 toddlers which made it even worse. when they informed us our table was ready they asked us to enter then the waiter left us in the middle of the restaurant and disappeared for a minute, we had no idea where to go, despite this confusion we managed to be seated, our waiter was great in explaining the menu and gave a few recommendations when asked. We could only order sandwiches or salads so we went with the African vegetarian burger( falafel style) and tuna sandwich and cheese quesadilla for the kids, the taste was moderate, quesadillas however were bland, kids didnt want to eat it, i did like them having a lot of vegetarian options which is always a plus in my books, I would recommend my friends to try the food but im not sure if i will be back myself as the whole experience was not that great.

We were told by a local about this place and we were excited to try. As we were turning into the parking the lot, a silver mustang, later found out to be the OWNER! Totally cut us off to beat us into the parking lot. He was behind us and apparently I was driving too slow for him so he sped up to get in front of me to turn into the same exact parking lot!! Like are you kidding me? Very uncool as I had to slam my brakes to avoid hitting him. In return I did flip him off but he harassed 3 of us in front of everybody outside in the restaurant. He was yelling at me, Im a girl. He continued to shout Im the owner and you owe me an apology (when he cut me off), if you think youre going to eat you are wrong babe! He continued to call me babe after I told him to stop and we were leaving and he followed us out. Very unnecessary to continue to follow us out after we were already leaving. He got into my face and spit his gum out at me. THIS WAS THE OWNER! Im completely horrified. All because I hurt his feelings by flipping him off.

Ive never been so rudely and abusively treated by rent-a-cops before, but when I parked in the back lot to see a movie at the Tower Theater (they share the lot, but the restaurant hires the goons), I was in for an encounter. We dashed across the street to grab a candy at Walgreens (in the rain)... these jerks yell at us that they were going to call a tow for our car. We tried to reassure them we were just grabbing an item and would be patronizing the Theater in just a minute, but they wouldnt listen, insisted we move our car or theyd have it towed. Walked back and got into it. They wouldnt budge. Had to move the car, so we didnt bother with the movie. Needless to say, we arent going back to either the theater or the cafe anytime soon. Ive been to the cafe many times; the foods OK, nothing really special. The theater has seen better days, its in a terrible state of disrepair and the mens restroom still stinks. I can find other places to spend my money where they treat their customers like they want them back.
