It was our first time at Zakuro and we went with some friends for dinner. We found the atmosphere really nice and comfortable. The staff was nice and friendly, and they were really good about making sure the food we ordered for my son did not contain any ingredients he was allergic to (they even let me know that the oil they use to fry tonkatsu is the same batch of oil they use to fry shrimp tempura...definitely 5 stars for food allergy awareness). Things started really well, but then got "a little bumpy". When the food came we found something that did not belong in one of our side dishes. We let the waiter know and the manager (I think maybe he was actually the owner) came to apologize personally (we didnt expect that...again, 5 stars for professionalism). I think sometime after that it got kind of busy and maybe they were a little short staffed. Our main entrees arrived okay, but we had to ask a waiter to check on our makis (we were very patient about it before we asked). The manager/owner came to us again afterwards, even though we werent mad...shows that he really cares. They put great effort in trying to make things run smoothly! Overall, we had a good time and enjoyed our dinner. Had it not been for the "bumps", wed give it a higher rating. I would recommend people to try it out for themselves.

I have been a sushi fan for more than 20 years and always try to find a great sushi spot, and I have! I have tried probably every sushi spot in Pleasanton and I cannot seem to find a better sushi restaurant than Zakuro; it seems to be a notch above the rest. When I have out of town guests, I bring them to Zakuro! Service and food quality is always consistent. Had a one off, not wow factor with one roll, but it was only one roll, the other 30 I have had were awesome! :) I recommend this spot to anyone, it is perfect for families! After every visit, I look forward to coming back, or just picking up a yummy roll to enjoy at home after the kids go down to bed.

First time I went the staff was friendly and attentive. This time I had to wait to be seated while the staff was just hanging around and chatting amongst themselves. There was also an mistake on the check with Tom 10 minutes to fix... Also they advertised fresh Wasabi. But it was not Wasabi but grated horseradish mixed with some Wasabi paste. Further more it was not fresh-fresh but bought from somewhere already prepared. Inserted of preparing it freshly right before serving.

This is our favorite sushi restaurant for miles and miles around. We go to Zakuro for dinner at least once a week. Their food is always delicious, and the service is amazing. Cedric in particular rocks; hes personable, knows the menu and options, and remembers exactly what we like (despite us tweaking the order extensively!). We came to Zakuro on our first date and havent stopped coming back. Keep up the excellent work, gang!

Ughhh what a waste of time and money. Garden salad with dry old carrots and soggy cucumbers. California roll with the imitation crab stick cut in quarters length wise so the final piece in the roll was almost not visible. Tekka Maki with albacore instead of the more common, expected, and expensive ahi. All around they have perfected the art of cutting corners, costs, and quality. Two fat thumbs down

Came here for lunch one time and the place was empty so my party was seated right away and service was always attentive. The sushi was fantastic! I had the house special roll which was really good. As a little bonus, the chef gave us a complimentary side of tempura green beans since it was Memorial Day weekend. Absolutely great service!

Ive eaten at a numerous amount of Sushi bars in the bay area and this one by far is the better of them all. You can taste the freshness of the fish. Also their atmosphere is very laid back and the prices are perfect. Recently they wont the readers choice award for best Sushi and Happy hour, and I would agree with that!

Stopped in to eat dinner on our way from San Francisco to Stockton. The happy hour prices were fantastic. The sushi was delicious and fresh. My husband had particular praise for the scallops, which he said tasted very fresh. I enjoyed my Udon noodle bowl. Overall, we were pleased and would eat here again.

Good place. My wife and I moved to SF Bay area from Japan and enjoy coming here for a taste of home. I highly recommend the Nigiri 7-piece or deluxe. Some things, like the tonkotsu, are not quite Japanese level, but the gyoza is very good. They also have a good selection of fresh, Japanese beers.

We try to make it here at least once a month for our sushi fix. Employees at the sushi bar are great to talk with. Always have a good time while were there. As a bonus they have happy hour 3-close every day. $1 off special rolls, $2 large hot sake, couple other good specials. Hard to beat!

Great atmosphere, attentive service, delicious food! I came with a large party and then wait staff was attentive to all of us. I highly recommend the lunch specials. For 9-10 you get really good teriyaki or tempura with soup and salad. Id recommend zakuro for business lunches as well.

For all of our karate parties, we get our sushi from Zakuro! Hands down the best sushi around. We have ordered the boat 4 times in less than one year, everyone is always more than satisfied! After a hard training session or karate promotion, everyone looks forward to the sushi!

One of the best sushi restaurants in the area. The chirashi is awesome. I have been coming here shortly after they opened. Friendly service and great fresh food. Often times it can get busy during lunch, but keep that in mind. Great family spot!

Food is Great. Service is slower than Molasses. Have been going here for years and the service has gotten slower and slower and slower. Dont bother there is so many other great places to eat that wont take you forever to get your food.

Nice, friendly staff. Nabeyaki Udon was very well presented, filling. But nothing fancy, they dont make their own noodles or anything. A little on the expensive side. Seems sashimi/rolls are their strongest point.

Place was a odd with no full bar, saw a couple dirty tables but the food was the bomb as good as any in tri-valley and happy hour includes beer sake and a few different appetizers really worth a visit.
