My wife and I have been coming to Goshis for 3 years since moving from SoCal. The food was always good and the conversation at the sushi bar with Yugo, the head chef was lively and friendly and filled with new recommendations and menu suggestions. We would be met at the counter by an older Japanese gentleman (sorry I cannot remember his name) by a smile and a nod to the sushi bar and who would take our drink order as we sat down. However the last 6 months has seen many changes at Goshis in Paso Robles. First the head sushi chef, Yugo was injured in a car accident and was replaced while he recuperated by another chef who though competent is not real friendly. There is now no conversation or menu suggestions forthcoming from the staff behind the bar as there was with Yugo (who is back but spends time in the kitchen as well as time behind the bar four days a week). The quality of the food presentation has all but disappeared. Secondly the the older gentleman who would greet us has, as we were told by a waitress just last night, is no longer there having been fired for being "being great with the customers but mean to us". His departure is evident in the lack of service attention by the waitress(s). We were not met at the desk at which we stood until finally notice by a napkin folding waitress. We sat for over five minutes before any of the three waitresses asked us if we would like drinks. Later I would have find a waitress (3) who were spending their time hashing out the weekly schedule in the back or gossiping while folding napkins off to the side for a refill on our drinks. Until the last few months Goshis earned a 5 star but needless to say it may be time to try somewhere else which is so sad because Goshis has been the go to place for very good sushi with a very friendly atmosphere in North SLO county but for now, not anymore!

The food is good, but if you order off menu you may not get what you expect. My 15-20 minute to-go order didnt start getting made until 35 minutes after I ordered, and since there were only about 15 people in the restaurant (not busy), I was a little dissapointed. Togo orders are not assembled and they expect you to know that this plastic cup goes with that roll. Unless youve sat down at the bar, how youd know that is suspect. In the restaurant ambiance seemed nice, the staff seemed ok, and the chefs seemed like they were fine. To go tho - not one of my better experiences, and Ive had about 50 over the last year. 4 stars for the food, 3 stars for the service, 3 stars for the assembly, 2 stars for the promise of 15 minutes, delivery at 40 (to go).

Fish was very fresh and of good quality. However the tempura batter was too sweet and the salad had slightly too much dressing. The chirashi portion was much smaller than the SLO branch and had fewer variety of fish on it. There is takoyaki on the menu but it is not written on the paper menu and they are referred as "octopus balls".

The food is really good. Some of it is a little over priced if you go during their dinner hours. Their box lunches and dinners are worth the money because they give you a lot of food. The service is good too. Only bad thing is they charge you for soda refills. I would recommend Goshis if you are wanting a big tasty lunch or dinner.

Lugar muy cálido. Atención excelente. Y los platos muy bien presentados y exquisitos sabores. Totalmente recomendable

Not a fusion place, more old-school style sushi served both here and at the sister restaurant in SLO. Which is fine by me considering how delicious the fish is. Tataki is especially delicious if youre a fan of the pickled flavor.

The best Sushi in the North County. This is not for those that love flamboyant rock-n-roll sushi but for those who love great fresh fish prepared simply by real Japanese sushi chefs. Check out Goshi in San Luis Obispo as well.

The sushi is amazing and always tastes fresh! Service is great, but they always seem understaffed, so you might have to wait a little while for your waiter to get back to your table. We loved the Salmon and Avocado roll!!

I come here every week. They regularly have Japanese-sourced fish and the skill of both the sushi chefs and kitchen staff are excellent. You have to watch the specials board for the good stuff.

Delicious, but OVERPRICED!!! The roll I paid $14.25 for could have been purchased from a place in SLO for half that price! I love good sushi, but I cant afford to eat at this place!

Food is always great. Service used to be questionable, but it has been much improved over the last couple of years. By far the best Sushi in SLO county though.

Food was skillfully prepared and was worth the price. I will definitely make it a point to visit next time I am in Paso Robles.
