I had a craving for Italian food at lunchtime and I didnt want to brave the congestion at Olive Garden or sit through the formality of Sizzler to get it, so I decided to try out this longtime Downey fixture. As Id driven past it for many years, I thought it would be a decent meal. I was terribly wrong. I sat down and ordered Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken. The first thing I ordered was a simple coke. It was brought to me and when I tasted it, I was smacked in the buds by the cheaply sugared taste of some generic soda. It wasnt even up to the standards of RC Cola and felt more like carbon water sweetened with some cheap Kool-Aid knock-off. Little did I know that this would foretell of the miserliness to come. The next thing to come was a round of garlic bread. Not bad, but not good. It was rather quotidian fare, but probably the best thing on the menu. Offered a choice between soup or salad, I chose the vegetable soup. The stew was completely bland. It tasted exactly as though the cook had put three types of watery vegetables into a pot of boiling water. There was no taste to speak of other than neutrality. It was as if I were drinking hot water with a murky consistency. The Alfredo was absolutely repugnant. Upon seeing it and smelling it, I knew it would be completely unsatisfactory. It smelled thickly of cheese, even in the absence of any cheese. The pasta looked like plastic, the sauce was slimy and greasy, and the chicken looked pink and cheap. Biting into the chicken, I discovered it to be tough, bordering on crunchy. I knew at once I was eating microwavable chicken breast chunks from a 30 lb. discount bag straight out of the freezer section of Costco or Walmart. I had to set the chicken aside on another plate. The pasta was little better. The taste of the sauce was completely hideous. This is a demonstration of what happens when you try to cut corners by using the cheapest ingredients you can find. I would have complained, but the list of problems was so long it would have been far more trouble than it was worth. Im surprised this place hasnt been closed down yet.

Now i would love to give this place 6 stars but those programmers at Google apparently dont know about this place. I was a bit skeptical when i first arrived at Cafe Corleone. Paramount isnt exactly the greatest of neighborhoods and i had been to many places that claimed to be the best Italian eatery in town. Most of these bold claims were sadly hollow and empty. As soon as i walked through the door, the friendly warm atmosphere and wonderful staff made me feel truly welcome. It felt as though i was being welcomed into a home and being invited to join the family at their table. The waitress was very patient and helpful when it came to ordering. Instead of trying to sell me the more expensive entrees, she made a very simple suggestion to just try their spaghetti and see how i liked their sauce. After all isnt sauce the focus of any Italian food. When the spaghetti arrived the aroma was heavenly and the sauce was the best i had ever tasted. One bite and i was hooked. Since my first visit i have tried many of their dishes. The best dish i have had so far is their Chicken Parmigiana. The chicken was tender and the sauce was superb. The antipasto salad was very fresh and had generous portions of meats and cheeses. Their sausage and peppers dinner was very good as well. I cant wait to go back and try their lasagna.

So I like pasta, but I dont like the exercise I have to do later to burn it off. So whenever my boyfriend and I go out, we always order one plate of pasta, and split it in half. We both were in the mood for pasta, but a little scared of the two yelp $$. We ordered a pasta plate, salad, and soup. The waiter was very on top of it, he figured out we wanted everything split in two. He took the extra step to split everything in half and serve our plates that way, instead of us awkwardly trying to figure out how to split soup in half.I wasnt wowed by the food, but it was alright. I def pass by on a romantic dinner night when Im in the neighborhood.

I wasnt too impressed with lunch at the Corleone. The food was good, but not exceptional. The panini was kind of heavy and greasy..... i regularly make paninis at home and the one I had here didnt come close. Also, the vegetable soup was sorely lacking vegetables. It was mostly broth, and while it did taste good, it left me wanting more veggies. The service was good but the decor and layout was awful. However, this seems to be the case with most restaurants in Paramount, like a previous reviewer noted.... it doesnt seem to be the best of neighborhoods.

T^his place is horrible food and service. Owners office on back table Owner watching TV very loud! Waiter took 15 minutes before coming to my table. There was only one other table in this dead resturant. Food took 30 minutes to be made. Garlic bread was burnt!!!!!! Order Fettuccine Alfredo - pasta over cooked, hardly any cheese and it was made with milk instead of cream and there was no taste to it at all. The worst Italian food ever. If they have such great food and service why is it when I drive by this place everyday it is DEAD!!!!!

Some of the best italian food that isnt from a chain company or brand. Local mom and pop shop for italian eating, from pasta, noodles, soup, salads, breads and risottos this is an amazing place to eat. Can cater for large families if you call ahead. Pasta is made in house, and family come out to greet its customers like family. Images on the wall are a mix of minor family photos and Godfather movies.

I was shocked at the quality of the food! After my first time eating there a few weeks afo, I have been adicted. I work near their location and so I am frequently going in on my lunch break. I never get tired of the delicious food or the friendly service. The atmosphere is also a plus! Give them a chance, and I know you will be back for more!

Excellent food, NO unbelieveable food. Fresh ingredients. Wonderful bread. Abundant. Each dish is as good as, or better, than the one before. I have had sandwiches, pasta and pizza. All were amazing. You must try this place. Forget all your fears of Paramount and head over to Cafe Corleone today!

Good selection of Amer/Italian staples. Bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, before, is a nice touch. Portions are fine. Atmosphere is relaxed, yet nice enough for a date. Staff were patient and helpful.

The food was great. I got the Eggplant Parm and it was very sick in sauce and cheese. The sauce could have been a bit thicker. The price was felt a tad pricey. Over all I give the place a B-

Bring a wheelbarrow, you will need someone to carry you out when you leave. Once a month they have a regional feast. Today was Abruzzo. The food was to die for.
