YES THEY ARE OPEN! I love this place, it is seriously one of the best spots in Occidental and anywhere in Sonoma County really to eat. The service is amazing, the staff are so friendly and welcoming. The food is to die for! The new Chef, Seth is putting out some amazing appetizers, entrees, and desserts. So far Ive tried the chicken wings with both of the different sauces and they are so crispy and delicious! The Green Goddess sandwich with local bread, avocado, roasted tomatoes, sprouts, house-made aioli sauce and lettuce is something that I crave and Im not even vegetarian. So freaking good! The boyfriend and I went there last week and tried the Hot Mess Burger Special with their onion rings and omg did it ever live up to the name! Perfectly cooked beef, smoked mozzarella cheese, sunny side up egg and bacon, need I say more?! I can go on and on about the food, just try everything! Lol The desserts have been just as tasty as the rest of the dishes. Ive had the chocolate mouse and the croissant bread pudding which was something Ive never had before and it was outstanding! The dessert selection changes so its nice to have something different each time. Amanda, the main manager/bartender/server/awesome chic really makes the restaurant go and gives the place a positive vibe. I love this place, definitely have to try it when you are in Occidental!

This place is amazing! And thats all you need to know. But for explanations sake, the food is superb and affordable, the beer selection is bar none the best in the Bay Area, the vibe is amazing, cool live music, no cover, great ambiance, good people, greater times. And with a rotating burger of the week (made of local grass-fed Niman Ranch beef), you cannot go wrong. Oh, and by the way, dont expect to waltz in to find yourself zoning out staring zombie-like into another rerun of Matlock on the tube. No, this is San Jose Sharks country. Hockey on TV...in the Bay Area....believe it...and love it. Noah and Mirjam know how to treat their customers right. 10 out of 10 people agree.....Barley And Hops is the cats pajamas, And by cats pajamas, were talking onesies...with the footies attached. Dig it. You wont be disappointed.

If you like pretense, this is your place. If you do not project a Northern California yuppy image, they may not choose to serve you. I waited for 10 minutes at the bar to get a drink, while the person I walked in with got served immediately. Bartender continued to consciously ignore me, setting glasses away and chatting with other customers, so being busy was certainly no excuse. Bartender was the owner, so please dont support a person who so inappropriately profiles his customers.

A great place! Very good, reasonably priced food; Great selection of beers. Can get fairly busy at the bar on Fri and Sat but well worth it. This is a true Pub. No hard alcohol. Casual atmosphere. Nice people.
