The mushroom burger is hands down an amazing delight on first bite. The fried portabello mushroom is sealed with garlic aoli and mozzarella cheese. It starts oozing out of the fried coating, and a sight and waif of that ooze excites every single taste bud. The mushroom burger felt relatively light even though it is fried. The Trueburger is an unadulterated goodness as well. Since the meat patty is not overworked, the patty actually comes across quite fluffy with the egg bun. The thin cut fries were crispy and consistent. I would probably not go for the cheese next time and just stick with traditional fries and ketchup. The Velveeta-ish American cheese topping was decent, but I felt it took away from the perfectly crisp fries. The vanilla ice cream shake with chocolate sauce was delicious and flavorful. The shake did not come out too thick and did not require a separate spoon. Just a simple suck of the straw. The special was a french toast shake, which I wish I had room for. Similar to their Twinkie shake, the french toast is pulverized into vanilla ice cream. Next time! All-in-all the portabello mushroom burger far exceeded my expectations and won me over. That is a first for a vegetarian burger.

"...and upon their lips was then placed much deliciousness and the Umami gods did make their blessed descent to smother their taste buds with much yummy: very many noms were had that day...." -The Sacred Book of Entioch and Dahlia, the Devourers of Many a Holy and Tasty Thing The above passage sums up what D. and I experienced at this seemingly tiny and questionably clean edifice to deliciousness. Were going back. Were going to eat everything else on the menu by the end of the year so keep your browser tuned and your reading eyes sharp. Because hamburgers the likes of which have not been experienced since the Time of the First Animal Style Double Double have been had here and will be had again and again and again. So go, worthy patrol: eat of the Golden and Green Garlic Fry. Suck heartily at the teet of the Milkshake Goddess whose Strawberry Goodness has yet to be easily matched for taste, let alone value. Witness the quick and caring staff as their hands fly to proffer a very hot and extremely juicy burger that you may feast without delay. Gather many a napkin, however, friend, and cover thyself well with them that the many juices do not besmirch your fine vestments.

Great Burger & Fries are for the WIN! - But is a little over priced. Angus beef in a thicker than In&Out patty but isnt the largest diameter. So isnt a $10 burger patty. The meat is grilled very well and the flavor really pops. Egg bun is soft and not dry - very fresh and easy to eat - but isnt a knock out. But still far better than most. Tomato and lettuce are fresh and flavorful and sauce has a little bit of kick. Cheese on the burger only makes it better! Fries were fantastic! Very fresh and cooked in fresh oil. On the crisp and small size - like In&Out but dont hurt my teeth like In&Out fries do. Fries are definitely a win! So much so that the generic mustard and ketchup actually makes them taste worse than just by themselves. Place can get crowded and hot - needs better AC. Money vs. Food quantity - on the lower side. $7 for a Double-Up versus $7 for a Mission style super burrito - well if you are hungry go for the burrito. There are some out there that taste just as good as that burger does and comes in a much larger dose. But if you are craving and burger and in the area, Trueburger is hands down worth your time and $.

Ive got orders for burgers on Postmates a few times but I havent had a pleasure of trying it myself but they looked really good. It was very busy pretty much all day so its very popular. They have milkshake which you can add many different things like candies and marshmallows. I thought that was interesting. Inside is small. Maybe 10 people can eat inside and 4 outside. Kind of hard to find when youre driving by. Theres no parking, I dont think. But many street parkings available. 《Update》 I finally got to try their burger. It was so good!! The hamburger patty is made of Angus beef and its got such good flavors!! I had the deluxe burger which is their cheese burger + mushroom patty together. The mushroom patty is a whole mushroom (not sure what kind and its either fried or baked with bread crumbs) just as big and thick as the hamburger patty and theres cheese inside. So when you bite into it, melted cheese comes out. Omg. So good! If you order vegetarian burger, thats what youre getting. I think thats already good enough for some people. But Trueburger is a must try!

Trueburger makes my favorite no-frills burger. The meat is high quality and worked very delicately so it retains all of its juices when cooked up. The fixins are basic but delicious: a toasted and buttery bun, garlic aioli, fresh lettuce and tomato—I almost always go for the grilled onions which are caramelized nicely. As stated by others, the fries are also damn good. Again, simple ingredients prepared very well. I suspect that the chocolate shake is made with Double Rainbow ice cream. Why? Because Double Rainbow makes my favorite chocolate ice cream—sweet but cocoa-y and creamy as hell—and Trueburger makes my favorite chocolate shake. The place could use more seating—maybe some sidewalk seating—but they do well with the space available. Their prices are a bit higher than your typical burger joint but I dont think theyre unreasonable considering the quality of the food. A small-fry option would be nice.

Wow. One of the best burgers EVER!!! Came in because I saw the Google+ Local reviews, so I was curious for a solid burger for lunch. Well this place DELIVERS! I went with the works! I got a double cheeseburger, fries, and even a chocolate shake. The burger was so tasty! Cooked perfectly, not rare, but not burned, with plenty of juicy flavors. I could even taste the seasonings in the meat! I mean even the lettuce tasted good, that never happens. This was definitely a ton of food and I was stuffed. The fries are good, but not as amazing as the burger. The chocolate shake was really great as well, you could really taste the ice cream. I highly highly recommend this place!

This was easily one of the top three burgers and fries experiences of my entire life. The food was ultra fresh and locally sourced, the staff friendly, and the seating was a perfect mixture of informal and private. What stands out even more is how reasonable the prices are for being tucked away in a very business oriented part of Oakland. I cant imagine a circumstance where I wouldnt recommend them to someone hungry if they were in the area, especially if they didnt have time to spare for a traditional waitstaff style establishment. Youre missing out on a hidden gem if you dont stop in when you have the chance.

I went for dinner with my girlfriend and we could not have been more surprised. This burger joint is filled with the basics all of which are high quality. We each got a classic "Trueburger" hamburger, split a side of fries and each got a shake, which cost ~$22. The meat was succulent and juicy, and the garlic aioli was top notch. Did charge me for seared onions, rather than the free raw ones (which I thought I had asked for) but the extra $.50 was well worth it. Shakes were quite good, though could have been a tad creamier.
