So I came back but this time the hot chocolate did not taste the same. Thats why I revised my review. My friend also ordered the same exact drink as last week and also agreed it didnt taste the same. We presume they probably added cocoa maybe last time and this time they didnt. In any event, it tasted like any regular hot chocolate. No prizes here. I tried the classic chocolate and it is over, above, and superb!!! Leaves Starbucks hot chocolate way behind by FAR!!! If it was a hot chocolate competition between those two places in taste, this place beats it without a tiny doubt! YOU gotta taste it yourself. Be the judge is that and your taste buds will understand. I dont know what they put in that chocolate but its the best Ive tasted.

Bittersweet Chocolate Café is usually wonderful, and I did frequent the Rockridge location with a friend a few years back, but I recently emailed them via Facebook to complain that Id become ill after drinking a mocha and they offered me a refund--then blocked me when I accepted! The store has just closed temporarily and will be under new management, which may account for their "who cares?" attitude. I hate to say it, but my experience with this company has turned bittersweet. Extra star for good memories and the nice barista.

Hot chocolate was way too sweet, coffee is too bitter, its not very clean, very small portions for a very steep price. Its so not worth it, to the point of worst starbucks might be worse in service but better in coffee quality. But it was not disgusting place, and my drinks were being prepared okay, its just recipes were totally off with amount of sugar! Cashier was pretty nice.

The dragon head on the window looks Satanic and the price posted on the board is not what you get charged at the register. They claim its due to tax, but the tax is not 20 cents to the dollar. One older woman behind the counter seemed eerie and creepy (like that of a witch) all in black and cold/impersonal. Otherwise, the product was good. Just not an overall good experience.

Light jazz music, fresh chocolate, tables and wifi. Everything you need for a place to work, study, catch up with a friend and relax. They know their chocolate brands and while some of the bars are crazily expensive, the hot chocolate is more reasonable and worth the indulgence.

One of the best hot chocolate Ive ever had in the bay area! Its not a huge selection but every choice they have here is amazing! The atmosphere is very welcoming and warm. This is the perfect fall and cold weather stop!

Nice overall bakery/cafe style menu, but the best bet is one of the several hot chocolates. If you are normally a dark chocolate fan, the bittersweet hot chocolate is the one to warm your hands and heart with.

Why did the SF one close down??? Why? I love their hot chocolates! They have great lunch options with amazing salads that are quite filling!! I usually get carried away with their cakes and pastries.
