This place is really close to Lake Merritt so we were keen on trying a new thai place near home. We went there on a Friday lunch time (they shut at 3pm). Service was friendly and super fast. The restaurant and the bathroom in general was nice, cozy and clean. They had a very reasonably priced lunch specials (2 small curries with rice for 10.95) which was a great option but since no fish was included we went for a la carte. They have great varieties of dishes. We went for the Chai Thai noodles (cause we love our noodles and its always good to try how well different restaurants prepare them) and catfish curry with rice separately. All in all the bill was for less than 30$ so good value for money. The noodles were flavorful, packed with veggies and not drowning in sauce which was nice so you could taste everything and still fill light. Catfish curry was lovely and again, packed with veggies. The portions were really good for the price and we ended up filling full but light. Definitely coming back to this little gem in East Oakland. Way to go!!!

Best Thai Ive had in the east bay, hands down. Im embarrassingly picky about my thai food (seriously, I get embarrassed by how picky I am...I wish I could eat average thai food, but Ill legitimately inconvenience myself or loved ones to get better thai food). Anyway, after a year of searching, trying every 3-star Thai place in Oakland, Berkeley and Alameda, weve finally found it: the best thai in the east bay. Im a huge fan of green and panang curry in particular, and Chai Thais green curry is absolutely perfect: the perfect amount of spice (I like moderate to high heat), tons of flavor, not too oily, not too much coconut milk, etc. On top of their delicious food, weve also been super happy with the service whenever weve picked up. The staff is super friendly, and ask you confirm your order when youre paying to make sure youre satisfied. Thanks Chai Thai for being amazing. I cant wait to have a long and and loving (no funny business) relationship with you.

I dont write 5 stars with levity. In fact, I ate here 3 times before committing to a 5 star review but this restaurant truly deserves each and every star. All the dishes Ive had have been fantastic so far. - the popular Kao poon does not disappoint. A delicious red curry base with a hint of sweetness and all the right amount of herbs. - eggplant salad. Sounds gross, cuz who likes broiled eggplant? And who likes salad on top of that? But they pair it with fish sauce, ground meat, fresh cabbage for crunchy texture, and a few shrimp to make boring ingredients pop. - guay tiew gai koor. Looks like it would be tasteless but every bite had good flavor. Dont let its looks fool you - Chai Thais namesake noodle dish is a tummy variant of pad thai Overall, have yet to order something that didnt taste good. Its always pretty busy here. Prices and service reasonable.

This is THE spot for Thai Noodle Soup in Hayward. They have a lot of options for noodle soup on their menu and my favorite thing to order here is the Kao Poon. Kao Poon is a red coconut curry soup that is served with rice noodles, chicken and cabbage. It doesnt get any better than that! The noodles absorb all that awesome curry flavor and its just perfect for a rainy day, or any given day in my opinion. I feel like when you visit a Thai restaurant, the restaurant is good if they can get their Angel Wings right. And this place does have very delicious and flavorful angel wings. Do give it a try, you wont be disappointed. I know Im not.

Chai Thai is located on International Blvd. in East-ish Oakland. There menu is really big and has tons of items in it. This generally makes me pause and think that the freshness of the ingredients may not be the best. I have eaten here and thought, "Man, this is freaking delicious." Other times, like today, I get a dish that is garbage. That dish was Pad Thai. The noodles lacked the flavor I was anticipating. I could taste something close to fish sauce, some sort of spicy component, and oil. It was a sad experience since I had been thinking of Pad Thai for the past four days. Your dining experience will vary.

The service was attentive but not pushy. The food was delicious. The chive cakes looked better than they turned out to be, a bit wet on the inside for my liking, but every other course was amazing--some of the best Thai dishes I have ever had. The decor and the bathroom left the most to be desired, but I was fine with the former for a casual dinner with friends and could live with the latter. Overall a really lovely experience. If I lived in Oakland, Id go back again and again and get something new every time.

I went here two times in one week. My first time was dining in and it was a great experience. Customer service was amazing. A few days later, I ordered a take out. I specifically ordered Angel wings and stated several times that I wanted Angel wings. When I got home, I discovered that I had fried chicken wings and they were not very good and not what I ordered. Needless to say, I was pissed. I still had a great in dine experience but why do I need to check my order prior to leaving with a take out?

I really enjoyed the red curry soup, much lighter than the normal red curry dish and great flavor. Plus the portion is very big so I took the leftover soup and ate it for 2 more meals! It was not too difficilt to find nearby street parking on a Friday night. We had to wait a bit for a table, but not too long. It is a small place so best for groups of 4 or less, but they can accommodate larger groups by putting tables together. Decent selection of beer at good prices too.

Best Thai overall that weve had outside of Hawaii where were from. The egg rolls were bleh. I swear restaurants here just buy them frozen. But everything else was great. I asked for my green curry to be Laotian hot (very very very) and they didnt believe me and it had ZERO heat lol. But you can add hot sauce but the curry was fabulous and the pad Thai delish. Folks were friendly. Best Thai so far in east bay.

Simply delicious. Service isnt always that great, pretty hit or miss for sure, but the food compensates for the lack of service that happens on occasion. Pad see ew and the thai fried rice with fried chicken are our go to meals, my husband loves some yellow curry soup thing. And of course dont forget the best thai iced tea. We usually have to order an extra because they are so good.

Ordered green curry chicken and it was wonderfully full of eggplant, zucchini and green beans. Coconut milk and basil in sauce was subtle. Brown rice absorbed this delicious dish. Ordered coconut drink but it wasnt too fresh. Dessert was sticky rice and coconut ice cream. Nice finish. Server was attentive and service was prompt.

Great thai food. The staff is friendly, the food is good and the prices are fair. This is my personal favorite spot for thai food that Ive found in the bay area. I come here at least once a month or so, which is a lot for me because I try not to eat out too much! Highly recommend for when you want some good thai food!
