A couple of friends suggested this place for dinner on a Wednesday night, and since they were treating me I had absolutely no objections. High-end overpriced Mexican food? Bring it on! Apparently they took over the spot where the old Cocos used to be. I know, a Cocos in Fashion Island--get out! And it did. Anyhoo, I did admire their "Tequila Wall" in the reception area, and the decor was nice. Our hostess was young and beautiful (natch), and asked us if we were familiar with the restaurants "story" as she sat us. We said no and she proceeded to launch into a monologue that we really didnt care about but sat through very politely. After that I really needed a cocktail. They have a pretty nice cocktail list and I settled on a light, clear, refreshing cocktail that I forgot the name of! I think it might have been their vodka mint gimlet but Im not 100% sure. Whatever it was, it was damn good. We also got an order of their "classic" guacamole (read: good ole guac without too much of the weird fancy stuff) and for my entree I decided on their braised short rib enchiladas. The food was really tasty overall but it damn well better be, considering the $$ youre shelling out. Seriously, $20 for an enchilada plate?! I know Im paying for the servers quasi-military uniforms, and that Tequila wall, but sheesh. Our server was really nice and on the ball most of the evening but at the end we had to wait quite a while to get our check. The place got pretty loud too as the evening wore on. Bottom line: nice fancy ambiance but overpriced food for what you got.

AMAZING!!! FOUR OF US WENT TO TREAT OURSELVES TO A GREAT NIGHT AND WERE SO GLAD WE CHOSE RED O. OUR SERVER WAS THE SWEETEST THING EVER!! (CANT BELIEVE I FORGOT BUT WILL ADD IT LATER) SHE WAS VERY PATIENT & ALSO VERY HELPFUL TO US ABOUT CHOOSING OUR DINNERS SINCE IT WAS OUR FIRST TIME DINING @ O. THERE WASNT A QUESTION SHE COULDNT ANSWER, AND WE ASKED A LOT : ) MUSIC (KARAOKE) GREAT, FOOD AMAZING,STAFF PROFESSIONAL, JUST ALL AROUND FANTASTIC!! WE REALLY LOVED HOW ALL OF THE STAFF HELPED EACH OTHER OUT AND ALWAYS HAD A SMILE ON THERE FACE. SUCH GREAT TEAMWORK!! WE WILL GLADLY RETURN. I GIVE THEM AN A+

I love this place and so does my wife. The chicken mole is excellent, a large portion and healthy. When they do their brunch on Mothers Day, or like today on Fathers Day, it is sooo good. Last year, on Mothers Day, they had mole sauce at the omelet bar! Yum! Today I ran into Franco who is the coolest manager you will ever meet! He is on the ball and super friendly. And the details, at the paia station someone had stacked red bricks for decoration. And the ceviche was the best I have ever had. Cheaper than Pelican Hill and way better food! Keep it up Red O!

Chef Bayles has another great dining experience to join Topolobampo and Frontera Grill!!! Great Food! Not Tex Mex but real Mexican cuisine!! Ceviche was great, Carnitas were perfectly cooked in a Guajillo Chile sauce. Side of Mexican Street corn was delicious! Desserts were decadent! Wait staff was exemplary! I was dining solo never felt rushed and everyone took the time to chat with me and make sure I had everything I needed. Particularly Daniella and Natalie!! This will be a regular stop for me when I am in Newport Beach area!!

CHAUSTER BUFFET
FINALLY THERE IS A RESTAURANT IN ORANGE COUNTY THAT SERVE REAL MEXICAN FOOD. I TIRED OF BASIC TACOS,BURRITOS,AND FAJITAS. THIS PLACE USED FRESH INGREDIENTS THAT WE CAN ONLY SEE THEM ON CELEBRITIES FOOD TV SHOWS. WE TRY 11 DISHES THAT WE NEVER SEE OR HEARD BEFORE AND IT WAS SO GOOD. THIS PLACE IS PRETTY,FANCY AND WIDE OPEN. THE STAFF ARE SO FRIENDLY. IT HAS A BEAUTIFUL BAR WITH TV. IT IS EXPENSIVE AND THE PORTION IS SO SMALL. ANOTHER THING WE LIKE IS IT HAS LESS SMELLY SMOKERS.

Holding my event here was fun, easy, and successful! We had a birthday party at the 2nd floor lounge for 75 people. The Red O Restaurant, Fashion Island staff was wonderful and very gracious. The sound system exceeded my expectations and the ambiance was what I envisioned. Maria was friendly, inviting, and timely. I look forward to visiting again and considering Red O Restaurant, Fashion Island for future events!

Decent experience. Some of the food was good some not so good, the service is ok. Came here for restaurant week 3 course meal and it was ok. The Caesar salad was bland and plain. Our 2 entrees were good. The fish was cooked well and seasoned well, the carnitas was slightly dry. Service was decent, prices are high for what you get. Parking is very difficult on weekends.

Great location, vibe, food and service! We started with some chips and guac- awesome! The sizzling platter was great- had it with steak and shrimp. There seafood platter was just ok, if youre dying for a seafood platter go to Mastros. The side of corn is a must try. We ended with a double order of churros. They went fast!

Service and drinks were fantastic (cucumber margarita and their house margarita). I ordered the meat enchiladas but not being used to the Mexican region where their food is from I didnt really like the taste. I would go back for their margarita, chips, & guacamole but would try a different dish.

Talk about an experience!! The staff was nice and courteous. Our server and helpers were awesome!! They had wonderful suggestions and knew the entire menu. The food.... You want flavor, you go it! Everything was delicious. Im not quick to offer 5 stars but Red O really blew me out of the water.

Amazing upscale Mexican fare. Extensive tequila list. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. I had the lamb in mole sauce that was amazing. Tequila flight is a great way to experience some excellent high quality tequilas. We were there on a Wednesday and they had a live cover band playing.

The food was ok, I like the interior of the restaurant. The service was great by the waiter when we were there. The male host was lousy, he gave us a small round table (supposed to be for two people) and were four people; so, we requested to move a bigger table also for four people.

Everything was perfect. Frito misto of calamari & eggplant was delicious, fresh made pasta with shrimp had a lovely light sauce & the sole was perfectly cooked. Deserts did not disappoint either. Italian wine recommended by our waiter was great with all courses. Highly recommend!

Upscale, fine dine Mexican. Beautiful ambiance and decor. Service, food and presentation were all superb. Chips came out nice and hot. The guacamole was creamy and delicious. Portion sizes were plentiful, even the kids meal was large enough for an adult.

Came here for lunch with my wife. I ended up getting the combination plate with an enchilada suizas and short rib enchilada. Both were very good. Service: Very good. Price: Moderate priced but worth it. Return: Will definitely return.

Great Lunch Service! Food was excellent! The Tomatillo sauce was awesome! Staff very friendly and professional. Manager checked with us multiple times to make sure we were happy and we were. Definitely will coming back!

Pleasant. Great music. Good food. Great service. I ordered their Camarones al aljo. I sent back my order because it had no real flavor. But when they corrected my dish, it was out of this world!
