My friend and I ordered the Soup Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao), Spicy Beef Noodle Soup, Sweet Soy Milk, Salty Soy Milk, and the Salty Rice Roll (Fan Tuan). While I appreciate my food coming out quickly because, honestly, who likes to wait a long time....our food came out SUPER fast. Like five minutes after we ordered (maybe even less), which made it seem a bit questionable. It made me wonder if the food was already sitting out or just sitting in a pot somewhere. I can understand certain things made in batch quantities like the soy milks. However, our soup dumplings and noodle soup came out incredibly quick and I know those usually requires SOME cooking or heating up. The soup dumplings were ok. Ive had much better and some of the soup had already leaked out and were a bit dried up. The spicy beef noodle soup was tasty and we both enjoyed it, despite how quickly it got served to us. It wasnt overly spicy, but had a kick and was very savory. Both the soy milks were good and really, how could anyone get soy milk wrong, so we enjoyed those. The salty rice roll was good, but Ive had better. Overall, the place wasnt bad. Its hard to find good Taiwanese breakfast around the East Bay in my opinion. Ill still have to try some other places out. I would come back though if Im craving the food. Cash only gets a star off because in this day and age I really think all restaurants should allow for credit cards.

My rating is for the food, which is exactly what I was looking for. I was born here in California, but my parents were born in Taiwan, and I have been back numerous times. I have been craving proper taiwanese breakfast for a while, and this really hit the spot. The chinese donut was great, as was the sweet soy milk. The minced pork over rice was far better than expected, and was well worth a try. The spicy wonton dish was also quite good. I wouldnt come here if I was trying to go light on carbs, but it was totally worth eating a weeks worth of carbs in one meal. Ill probably have to go back and try more dishes. However, be forewarned, the restaurant is not in the greatest shape, and the service is merely adequate. I honestly expect nothing else from a good taiwanese restaurant, as you dont go there for the service, or the atmosphere (though I loved the tacky taiwanese decor, as it helped make the place feel like a restaurant in Taiwan). It was clean enough, though clearly old. The parking lot is in sorry shape as well, but none of that really matters when this is one of the few authentic taiwanese breakfast places out there right now. I cant wait until there is a good competitor somewhere in South Bay so I dont have to drive so far, but until then, I will keep making the trek up here when the craving strikes.

Authentic Taiwanese breakfast. You can see many Taiwanese come here for their brunch. A bit pricey but I believe the taste is what you find in taiwan
