Stay away from this place... food is ok, but not worth the experience. Two of us went for lunch (around noon), it took then 50mins to serve us food, which was ok... have had better burgers, salads and sandwiches... Veggie Grill in the Safeway complex comes to mind which is not too far either from this place... when asked for check, they have us waiting for another 15mins. When the check came and I gave my credit card, the server comes back and says he does not have my card...showing no sense of responsibility or urgency to even look for it or try to find where he may have dropped it. I had to go around the place asking other servers to see if they could help find my card... eventually, a guy who cleans dishes etc. found it in the back (I am assuming the kitchen)!!! Upon asking the waiter if he realized how irresponsible he had been, he has the audacity to respond back that it is not his mistake and he is not responsible. He does not even offer any apologies. We finally bring in the Manager into this conversation (who up until now had been conveniently ignoring that this incident was going on as he was "busy"), whos first words were "I dont want to argue with you guys... things happen". Upon insisting that he recognize and accept the mistake and apologize, he eventually said sorry. Net net... this was a traumatic experience and I sincerely hope that no one has to go through a similar ordeal.

In A Nutshell: -The Counter is another burger-joint among the many, but does stand-out. -They serve booze :) -You could go with their menu and their self-compiled listing of various burgers OR you can grab the paper menu and pencil on the table and create your own burger. -The menu looks complicated, but its actually fairly organized (i.e. burger size, meat choice, bun (if any) choices, condiments, veggies, etc... -Whatever burger you choose or create DO NOT FORGET TO ADD A FRIED EGG. The most beautiful fried egg you can imagine was made here (just look at my pic). -Also, the "Shoestring Fries" are to die-for. They were so good, I had to order some to-go. I recommend eating them fresh though as they got a little soggy after bringing them home - you could pop them in the mini-oven though. Overall, The Counter is worth checking out if you wish to indulge in what makes America great - eating lots of FAT. Dont forget the EGG and Shoestring Fries.

Best burgers evah! Sauces made fresh not jarred. Toppings are fresh cut, like the avocado, tomato, etc, and the bison is worth every penny of the upgrade. The sweet sriracha sauce is crazy delicious, striking the perfect sweet heat balance. The beef chili has so much meat in it its like another burger. Sit at the bar and talk up the bartender if you want to have fun. On nice days theyll open up the garage door style window at the end of the place making for a great breeze so its almost like eating with a bit of the outdoors indoors. As for beer, I recommend the angry bastard. Goes awesome with the bison! Itll run you a few bucks to splurge here. The spread in my pic was about $50 with tip, but its worth the money and the minutes for the size and freshness and ambiance, if youve got them to spend! You can eat cheaper here for sure, but being from the east coast, I get when the gettins good, and its great here! Definitely worth a go!

Food: 5 Unless youre really good at choosing a good combo, or you know exactly what you like and how you like it, try one of the combos. The pre-chosen combos are fantastic. The fries are pretty good, incl. sweet potato and the parmesan fries. If I remember correctly, the fries are a little on the thinner/smaller side but arent, like, skinny fries. The shakes are good. If youre there in May, I think they have a churro shake thats SO GOOD. I dont think Ive ever gone wrong with one of their shakes. Service: 2-3 Usually, theyre super packed and its hard to find seats. Thats fine. But if youve skipped my name on the list for a party the exact same size or if its taken forever to get any waitstaff to take my order (different trips, second one has happened a few times), Im not going to rate your restaurant very highly, no matter how good your food is. Bottom Line: Its pretty good food, but just be prepared to wait a while.

The service was easily the worst part. We came after the lunch rush, so Im not sure what our waiter was doing. After we ordered, I had to remind the waiter twice that I asked for diet coke, which came 10 minutes later (after he cleared another table, talked with multiple groups of other employees, and stood at the bar talking to the bar tender). During that time, a table was seated next to us and then got up and left because this waiter never came over for their orders. Our entrees came out, at which point were reminded the waiter again that we ordered an appetizer - he brought it out 5 minutes later saying "I dont know what happened." The only positives were good food and the appetizer was comped due to crappy service. I would go back a second time, but the service has to be second to none or unfortunately it will be my last visit.

It was crowded so I thought it must be good. I sat at the bar, and I was hurried to order. If you are a 1st time visiter, it takes some time to understand the menu and how you can customize your burger. Nevertheless - after a second prompting - I settled for a cheeseburger, a small fry and an iced tea. The burger took a little while to come, but not too bad. They have a couple TVs to watch. When the burger arrived, it was good size but I found it to be greasy. The refill for the iced tea took forever to come. I just stopped eating and waited because I needed something to clear my palate from the grease. Oh well - plenty of people liked it - good for them. Ill stick with Clarkes when I want a burger. The counter is priced at about $8+/burger, and I got out of there paying $16 for a burger, small fry and iced tea.

On first attempt, my burger came well done instead of medium, but when I had cut my first bite of the burger (it was too big for me to eat it with my hands), the waitress immediately saw this and asked me if I wanted it re-made. I confirmed that and it was amazing how quick I got an apology from the kitchen (might have been the owner?) and a new - now perfectly medium - burger. Had a strawberry lemonade to drink, which tasted great, as did the burger. Now, as errors happen almost anywhere, I dont hold the initially overcooked burger against them, especially given how quickly it got noticed (I didnt need to complain) and how quickly it was replaced. Would go there again any time, especially during off-peak hours. Summary: Great food, very good service.

I really wish I could like this place. The burgers are great, and the fries are alright, but the service always sucks. The last time I went here was about thirty minutes before closing. The greeter got me my first drink, and after a lengthy wait, the kitchen staff brought me my food on his way out the door. I didnt even meet my waiter until after I had finished my lukewarm burger and stale fries. I managed to eat the entire meal with an empty glass! Im not going back, and if you decide to visit, please make sure to do so at least an hour before they close. When you have the privilege of eating it fresh, the food is pretty good (if overpriced.)
